wow very detailed, i like it,
Glad you like it!
It's amazing how well the tree looks after just the initial shaping.
Using your Making a Boxwood Bonsai video, I pruned, wired and potted my very first bonsai, a boxwood, this weekend. Thank you for posting this excellent video. It was easy to follow and gave me the confidence to try this. Quick question: After removing the wire in 1 - 4 months, can the boxwood continue on without the wire? Or is rewiring a lifetime activity at certain stages? It will be indoors during the cold Minnesota winters, and outdoors in the summers. Thanks again for sharing your expertise in the video. Take care.
So nice! If you like, feel free to post a photo on our website's forum! And wiring - after removing the wire usually you will need to apply wire again to further shape your tree. Perhaps wait a few weeks or months though, so your tree can recover well.
It’s convenient that this video just came out as I just purchased myself a boxwood
Thank you very much for inspiring me about bonsai science. keep up the good work 👌
So nice of you
Bro, always like your work
Appreciate that
Le bonsai esta muy fondos
Amazing work. Can initial pruning and repotting be done in early spring as it would have all growing season to recover? As I have just purchased 2 Boxwood from a local nursery. Thank you sir. You do amazing work.
If the tree is healthy and the repotting&pruning is mild - yes. If you plan a big repotting or lots of pruning, you'll make faster progress not doing it at the same time :)

Aussie Dave here, beautiful job also a nice explanation of your technique 🤗
Thanks and welcome
Great content! I am a beginner and I just purchased a Boxwood to start my first bonsai. I am shocked by the components and texture of the bonsai soil. Where are the nutrients and water retention (as the soil appears to be rocks)?
Thanks Mark! And regarding substrates, perhaps read this: www.bonsaiempire.com/basics/bonsai-care/bonsai-soil
Thank you, gives me some insight on how to start on a couple of boxwoods I got on sale this fall
Nice, go for it! :-)
Great video! Which variety of boxus is it exactly? I would like to create my own bonsai similarly.
Thank you!
Good. Thank you for sharing!
what's the size of the wire you are using?
A variety actually, ranging from 1mm to 5mm.
Holy crap, I’m doing this!
What species of boxwood is this?
It looks like a Sweet Myrtle ( Myrtus communis) not a boxwood.
Love the video. Please tell me where to buy and what type of wire you are using. Thanks !
Its standard bonsai wire, available in any (online) bonsai store!
Man if I had such a big place...
hi, I'm just starting on my bonsai what is the optimal age the boxwood should be and if it is not woody yet should I wait a few years and then start??
Well, if you want the trunk to develop you need to let it grow a lot (possibly wiring a bit to shape the trunk, but no pruning)
and I love the result it is awesome thank you for the help
lessons on wiring and branching techniques, please
Wow....❤️

Wow, the tree looks amazing at the end of the video! How do you select a tree that has good potential? I went to a local nursery and all the boxwood seem to grow straight up, instead of having a more rounded appearance, which doesn't feel right to me (but I am a complete novice).
Thats the tricky part! It helps to lift up trees and view them from all sides, but ultimately its a bit of a gamble too!
Would this be better doing in fall or spring?
Both is fine, ideally repotting in early spring and pruning later in the season.
@@bonsaiempire thank you.
Do you sell bonsai tools?
Nope, sorry!
It would be well to show what will be your front.
Per the norm, great job Oscar!!
Thank you for sharing,,wow
Thks For Sharing.
Welcome Men of Culture !!!
If you are in the UK I would not bother with Box because of the presence of the accidently introduced Box tree moth that is prevalent in England at least.
Awesome...👏👏👏
Everything that you did to the tree was talked about except cutting the roots. Good video though.
I might try boxwood again if I lose my sense of smell
I like this smell of boxwood but I used to have them where I lived as a kid so I guess it's a little nostalgic.
@@codemiesterbeats to me, it smells like cat pee
Great.. look so natural
Thank you! Cheers!
I hope you revisit this tree
We will! It is coming along nicely.
Good, very detailed 👍👍👍

Verry Good brothers thank you for sharing Vidio very imfressive
Thanks for visiting
So was this a regular boxwood that you can get at a garden and you turned it into a bonsai?
Correct
I don't think I would do that much pruning and also trim that many roots the same season, but it looks beautiful and I hope it survives to next year.
Great technique video regardless, thanks 👍🏼
It was a lot for one styling, but performed at the right time of the year and providing really good aftercare, this tree will be fine. We'll post updates in a year!
@@bonsaiempire it's in good hands 🙂👍🏼
@Bonsai Empire Any update?
