This is the clearest tutorial on this I've seen. I was able to replace mine on my 2008 Civic pretty easily just now, and I'm not mechanical at all. Saved me a bunch of money! It seems a lot of people have this problem. Kind of a shame Honda won't recognize it and do a recall or something.
susie130 did you have any issue of not being able to hear your music or the port not connecting to the aux properly? Trying to see if this will fix my problem
Ale9jandra I feel like the cover you pull back messes up the port because when you let go the cover is trying to close therefor pushing the aux cable up and bending the insides or somthing after awhile just snap of the cover when you replace it or it will happen again
Thanks for this awesome tutorial, my aux input was crapping out on me for the last year or so and it’s so nice to have it fully functional again. *ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO DO THIS* I strongly recommend removing the cover flap so that the aux input is exposed. Based on my experience, a BIG part of what makes it go bad is that there’s constant pressure applied to your aux cable by the flap.
You're literally a life saver! Thanks for this simple and easy tutorial on how to swap it out. You're saving all of us so much money. I thought it was the aux cables giving me trouble. Looks like I need to purchase the new auxiliary piece and swap it out myself.
Thank you so much for a straight forward video on this repair! You didn't waste time giving your opinion about what automakers do wrong. Just simple steps to replace the item. The dealership would probably charge $150 for this 5 minute fix. It worked like a charm!!! Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was convinced I would either have to pay a lot of money to get my entire system replaced or just have to deal with the radio all the time! This solution was way easier than I expected!
thank you so much! i really thought i was supposed to take off my entire dash to replace some cables, but this fixed it. my old aux port was broken, and wouldn't show up as "aux" unless i wiggled my cable in a very specific angle. it sucked. this video completely helped
I bought a cheaper off brand name for about $20, wanting to save some cash over buying genuine Honda parts and it worked like a charm! This video is very helpful and this tutorial works for those wondering! Thanks for the upload! 🙏🏻
Thank you for the easy instructions! My aux port finally died in my '11 Civic. I ordered the part and an aux-to-bluetooth adapter off Amazon; it arrived the next day. I picked up a trim remover kit from Lowe's and once I got home, I swapped out the aux port within five minutes. Now I have my music and podcasts back! Thanks again!
My aux on my 11 civic lx finally went out. This is by far the most helpful and straight forward video on yt. Saved my self hundreds and countless hours of boring radio. Back in action. Thank you
This was so easy to follow! My aux input stopped working and i had no idea what to do and can’t afford a mechanic. I’m 18 and in college moved away from my dad, and with literally no knowledge of cars i was able to fix this! Now it works again, thank you so much!
My 2009 LX Aux finally died this summer 2022 It started with fading 'aux' letters on the actual dash/player screen, eventually not turning on at all, only Radio and CD work. You made my old car fun again for my baby niece with her kiddie tunes. Thanks friend! PS. To any fellow klutz's out there like myself trying this. I ended up shattering the plastic housing during removal whilst Diycarmodz made it look effortless. My cover hinges broke off as well while pulling. If anyone else had this problem, don't worry, as long as you can still access the actual computer chip piece you're all set. It should still work. People in the comments mentioned the cover might actually be contributing to the problem by applying sideways pressure on things plugged in. So in the end i was going to leave if off anyway. If the car and I are still alive in another 13 years I'll let you know if that was the culprit!
U actually use a spoon? Thats awesome i need mine change too i have a 2008 but idk hopefully it works i will follow this steps.. it’ll definitely save alot of money all i need is a pliers and aux parts
I have a question, before fixing the aux port were you able to click on the aux button or no? Because I try to hit the aux bottom and nothing comes up so I’m wondering if I could use this video to fix that
Thank you so much for this video, still useful after years! A mechanic told me I had to replace my whole audio system, ordered the part and fixed it myself for $12! Works great now! 😊
I'm the kind of person who deals with car issues by dumping them on my husband or paying somebody too much money to do it for me. I can't even change a brake light. But I replaced my AUX port! By myself! Successfully! Thank you so much for this video.
Thanks a lot for the great video! Helped me restore AUX functionality to the car and its now Bluetooth compliant because of the Bluetooth to AUX adapter I bought separately, great upgrade to my 2008 Civic!
I know this video is old, but thank you so much! I have to drive 40mins to work and it really bummed me out that my aux cord wouldn’t connect to my cable anymore. This literally did the trick and it was so fast and simple. Thank you so much!!!
It worked!!!! Before you actually do it you should try disassembling it and then reassembling it with the new part just so you can know what it'll be like. There is a groove for the chip to fit in, so don't try to force it and like I did lol.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I have a Honda Civic 2008 Coupe,I used the same part #: 39112-SNA-A01. Ordered the part on Amazon for $13, I received it the next day and followed your instructions! YOU ARE AMAZING! It took me 5 minutes.
Worked 100% marvelously. It took you 2 and a half minutes to explain it and do it in the video, so I figured it would take me 10. I think it took 7 or 8 minutes realistically. You made it look so easy, but in reality, it was pretty simple. I ended up paying about $30 for the part from the link you gave, but this saved probably an additional $100 in labor. Thanks for posting.
Just broke on my 2010 Civic. This is one of the most straight forward and helpful videos I've ever come across. Thank you for making the effort to film this vid and compile all the info. This stranger appreciates you!
Agree with Erik F this video is perfect!!Successfully replaced aux port in a 2008 civic and all for about $25 total including a pack of tools. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the video! The only thing was when I popped it out, the entire aux port came out not just the cover like in your video. So I might as well unplugged the old port and plugged in the new port and voila, the aux works again but with half the work that you did of removing the old and new parts and putting them together when you can just take out the old part as a whole and plug in the new part in its whole as well.
Thanks so much for the video. Honda dealer wanted to charge me $100.00 to just look at the problem. Thanks to you I am only out $20.00. I now have a very happy husband :-)
Thanks for the info, fyi to others I had to use a fine flat file to take a tiny bit off each side of the green board, the replacement I got was maybe 1/64" to 1/32" too wide to fit the slot. After figuring this out and filing a tiny bit off and trying again (took like 5 rounds of this) it slid right in! Make sure you file evenly off each side, not sure if it matters, but that's what I did and now I FINALLY have a working aux port again, woohoo! My old one worked but I had to rubber band to the charger in the socket above so as to keep tension on the plug in the port, what a pain, and that's been like that since probably about the time this video was made, doh! Oh and of course the dealership wanted $250 just to diagnose, huge $$$$ saved! Thanks again for the video!! (2008 Si Sedan)
Such a helpful video. I was expecting to have to remove the dash to put in the entire new piece that I ordered off of Amazon but I did exactly what you showed (except I didn't have the cover on mine anymore since it pissed me off/got ripped off a while back) and it works perfect now. I was having a problem where the aux would only activate if I wiggled or held the cord in a certain way. Works perfect now, even less static too. Thanks man
I have yet apply the fix myself, but judging from all these comments, I am pretty optimistic that this will work on my 2009 Honda Civic LX. I can't wait for the part to arrive ASAP. I just bought the car today, and I really wanna show it off, look, radio, and all.
Replacing the input didn’t help solve my problem of the speakers cutting in and out only on aux. Any idea what else it could be? It’s not the cord and it’s not the speakers themselves. The cord works fine on another car and the speakers sound great on all radio modes.
Life saver! My aux has not worked in 6 years and I never bothered to fix it. I cannot believe how easy it was. I'm a weak woman and I was able to pry it off
Thank you so much for the easy instructions. I thought I would have to take my car in to get the aux fixed. My friend recommended to youtube search first and I'm so glad I clicked on your video! Thanks a whole bunch! :D
Thank you so much for this video! I bought the exact part in the description from the link you posted and replaced the part myself in 10 minutes! This helped a lot , I now have a working auxiliary port! 😁💯👍🏼
Thank you so much for this man , this is the clearest and best tutorial video on how to fix this, I spent like 15 bucks on the replacement aux port , I struggled for like a minute or 2 putting in the replacement part but eventually got it in, finally I don’t have to deal with the radio !
For anyone having this issue , you can order the part on amazon as well, I got mine within 2 days of ordering it. It wasn’t an original piece but worked like a charm
Thank you Thank you Thank you. This helped a lot. The tip of my aux cord was broken inside and I couldn’t use it for over a year until today 😭 thanks for this.
HaunterOfKanto do what he's doing here, my aux port is doing the same thing. This usually happens when you leave the aux cord inserted while not in use, or insert and reinsert an aux cable a lot, or insert a dirty cable.
Thank so much man! One thing that happened to me that might help other people: the part that I bought worked but was slightly different in size. The actual port part was a little bigger and the 2 housing pieces were also a little bigger. Not a problem but I had to use the old door piece to get it to stay together because I didn't change the old inner housing.
Hey so I tried doing this and I broke the flap off and I can't take the cover off now smh🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ is there any other way to take the cover off without the flap
Wow. The idiots at the dealership said it would cost me a buttload of money for them just to look at it to see what was wrong with it. I am so glad I found this video.
Pound for pound a perfect RUclips how-to video. Clear, concise, predicted mistakes I would make. I wish this guy was my neighbor. All my shit would work.
It took me a good 20 minutes and the power of 6 infinity stones to pry off the cover from my 2010 civic. Did everyone else's really come off that easily?
He makes it look SO EASY in the video. Glad to know the 2010 civics must be MUCH harder. I have tried and tried to get mine off and even broke the henge on the part that pulls down but haven't been able to get it off yet.
@@swavebeatz Thanks, yeah that makes sense! I still haven't gotten the cover off yet :( The dealership said it is $110 to look at and more to fix it so... I guess I'll keep prying and trying.
Thanks for this video bro!! I just did mine, Taking off the cover and then putting the unit back in was a bit tricky. Nevertheless it was easy enough and I was done in about 5 minutes.
Thanks for the great video. Was simple and easy. I used a credit card, though it was a bit hard to get the old cap off. It actually broke, but I didn't want the lid on anyways. Thanks!!!
When I was trying to pop the front cover off as shown, the whole unit came out to where all I had to do is unplug the old from the back and plug in my new one and pop it back into place. Much easier than what is shown in the video. Took me less than a minute.
Yooooo it actually worked! Only one issue tho you gotta be the hulk to pull that it out but after a few tries and actually having to pull it out it finally worked
Mine had trouble coming off to start with. I had to use a screw driver to loosen both the left and right sides in order for it to come off. I also had trouble sliding the new port in all the way, but was able to use the pliers to help push it the rest of the way in.
Mine still functions, it’s just loose. I have to hold the aux cable to the right for it to work. Do I need a new washer, inside part, or whole fixture?
Rudy Tucker Did your AUX button work on the radio or was it only the port that didn’t work? Coz for me it’s the button and i’m not sure if i should get the radio out or only fix that port
Daniel M it was just the Aux port that was bad. All the buttons on the dash to change from radio aux and c/d work. I never had a problem with the control panel part just the aux port it self.
Video is perfect!! replacement part from amazon took 2 days, and the swap took 2 minutes. Aux working again flawlessly. cheers. (2010 civic)
Same ✌
I just got my part today but I’m at work so I couldn’t do it yet but I hope it works for me too!! (2010 civ)

ah this makes so much sense! thanks for this tip.
How do you take the cover flap off?
I 100% agree. If you can get an aux cord with the "L" shape it puts a little less pressure than a normal straight one as well
2000% agree!!

this is a high quality 'do-it-yourself' tutorial. can't believe there's a single thumb down.
amazing tutorial
The Honda Dealership put it thumbs down
Someone could post a DIY video for how to cure cancer with $10 worth of shit you would get at Rite Aid and someone would give it a thumbs down.

Very helpful!! I'm not usually a DIY person but I will be for this!!!
Thanks a lot dude. That gave me a clear idea how to fix mine.
I can’t thank you enough for this video. You saved me $$$ and I gained knowledge points. Pass the Aux Achievement Unlocked!
Thank you for this. I've been sitting on the part for months and was too worried about causing damage before seeing this tutorial.
Just tried this on my 2008 Civic... worked perfectly. Thanks!
thank you for this! it's going to same me a lot of money
Yooooo it actually worked! Only one issue tho you gotta be the hulk to pull that it out but after a few tries and actually having to pull it out it finally worked
THANK YOU! Was seriously so sad that I couldn’t hear my music!
Mine had trouble coming off to start with. I had to use a screw driver to loosen both the left and right sides in order for it to come off. I also had trouble sliding the new port in all the way, but was able to use the pliers to help push it the rest of the way in.
Lifesaver! Thought I had to take off the panels but I didn’t :)
Mine still functions, it’s just loose. I have to hold the aux cable to the right for it to work. Do I need a new washer, inside part, or whole fixture?
Me too. I stretch it out to the right then I try n get it to hook between the bottom dash. Always comes out tho when I shift or hit a bump.
This fixes it and the part is on sale on Amazon for about 14 bucks. Mine was only working if i held it and it was super easy to do :3
Can you do the same thing with the POWER OUTLET??? im wondering cause i want to change the 12v Output for a dual USB socket...
So grateful for this helpful and short tutorial! Yay! Thank you!
These instructions were perfect for fixing the aux jack in my girlfriend's car! Thanks so much!
Brett Leatherman what year was it?
CL3MSON 2011
Thank you so much! This was the perfect video. I was able to follow along and change it all by myself. Works great!
Thanks man for this video you saved me from spending a grip at the shop
Rudy Tucker Did your AUX button work on the radio or was it only the port that didn’t work? Coz for me it’s the button and i’m not sure if i should get the radio out or only fix that port
Daniel M it was just the Aux port that was bad. All the buttons on the dash to change from radio aux and c/d work. I never had a problem with the control panel part just the aux port it self.
Did this on my Honda civic 2012 thank you !!! I missed my music lol
Almost like Honda designed this to fail on purpose.
I doubt that they designed the aux port, they probably had it made for them
mine broke cuz i kept getting outta my car without disconnecting my cable. so it was my fault not hondas
