VBVB, or “Very Brief Venture Brothers” is a daily series of shorts about individual episodes of the Venture Brothers, a show that has never received nearly the amount of affection it deserves.
Originally planned to be daily uploads between the months of April to June, I got slightly ahead of schedule and decided to compile the entire series into a single video.

orpheus really is the best character in the show. every line he delivers is always gold. I always thinks about when orpheus tells action man "2 years. 17 days. From a stroke." then a couple seasons later he dies from a stroke lmao

The scene when Action Man gets the stroke and Orpheus just says “a stroke” is amazing, it’s perfect fanservice but in such a subtle way you only know that’s what it is if you remember that scene

Just as the show did so fucking good, your video has once again given me the feeling that I’m really not alone out there. That there’s other people that get it, and even if I might never meet one in person, I know I’m not a nut case for enjoying this kind of stuff, in-depth analysis of pop culture through the lens of an animated show and all that.

This is one of my favorite adult animated shows ever, but you're right it's really hard to recommend compared to say Archer because the beginning is a bit rough and you have to watch the show from the beginning to get into the major continuity that they build up. However, I find that Brock Samson being a badass and the Monarch being such a funny villain usually helps people get into it. Also, applying real-world logic to superheroes can be very funny and they usually nail it like the fact the Monarch is constantly broke due to spending all his money on his supervillainy.
Also Dr. Orpheus is the best, he loves Taco Bell
Id say the exact same about Archer, though. Season one Archer is ROUGH and it takes a long time for the show to gain speed until it gets good
I'm rewatching the show right now and the monotone recap is the perfect thing to fall asleep. Go team Venture!

31:53 This is not only a reference to the networking system of science, but also to much of comics in general. In particular, much of the Fantastic Four's characters all went to the same college, coincidentally, and this also coincidentally led to the characters being who they are in modern comics.
just correcting one thing, Baron Underbheit was allied with the GCI he only left them after he was exiled from Underland
That's what I assumed as well prior to rewatching the series for this video, but I've never been able to find anything official that confirmed that he was; It's just one of those assumptions people make since he showed up at the Tag Sale, but considering he doesn't really interact with guild leadership that often I think that having him in the small niche of non-associated villains makes a bit more sense.
Plus, you'd assume that a guy with his own country would be a Level 10 and would have some sort of mutiny insurance or at the very least get fathered in to a Dental plan that covers jaw damage.
@@viedogaems well technically he had a Micronation but I get your point. I think he had a thing like the Monarch about wanting to arch Rusty.
The episode where he and the Monarch both attack Rusty do have lines regarding the Guild indicating he was a part of it as one of Rusty's official arches.

It has made me interested enough to watch the show even if I do know what happens it sounds really good.
I love this show. After a couple of seasons, I looked up the creators. I found out that Doc grew up in my home town! Though it was a tiny town at that time, I never met him. He was a couple of years before me in school. He was kind enough to answer a letter.
I can't wait for the movie but at the same time I will be so sad that it's over. The world building is a weave work on so many levels. Doc and Jackson challenge themselves and each other. And the viewers enjoy the spoils.
I think in some aspects the show could use a woman's touch, but that's my only real criticism.
I rented a studio right next to Eric Hammer’s studio. I would sleep there a few times a week and hear them working on the show, doing voice work , editing voices , hashing out ideas etc. The building had an open studio day, and they were handing out free DVDs of their pilot; little did I know that it would go on for so long. I knew they had made it when I started seeing ads for the show in bathrooms and billboards. Eric gave me some pointers once on painting; I was very careful talking with him because he had very strong feelings about painting, and he could back it up.
@@Anvilcjl I wrote him once and he offered to give me pointers on painting (I was doing a pretty similar style, oil portraits of women). life got in the way so I never took him up on it, but I'll never forget the offer either.

Dr. Mrs. The Monarch is one of the best characters. She's so funny, I love her love story with The Monarch. Her development is great, but I really liked her with The Monarch lol. Even though the story of Monarch and 21 is another fantastic story, I'd have liked more of Monarch and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch together

I just finished watching all 7 seasons of venture bros on DVD, and watching this RUclips video slowly after every couple episodes (to avoid spoilers.) This is a great series and recommend watching the episodes in order from beginning to end. I remember catching this show every now and again when it aired, and it didn’t have the same affect as watching the series in chronological order. Now I’m a big fan and will be watching the movie real soon :)

The Ventire Bros is very near and dear to my heart its my favorite show of all time and was hugely influencial to me growing up and im so glad to see it getting the love it deserves. Venture Bros is really truely something special so much heart wnd care was clearly put into it and i am very greatful that i got to experience it. The President in “Guess Who’s Coming to State Dinner” is actually based on Lyndon Johnson (who was President back when the original cartoons that Venture Bros is based on first aired), not Clinton/Bush. So the reference actually is much older.

Therefore, I was pretty close to the situation. Like across the street, dude. That black-and-white building, in the commercials and and end credits, is the Turner building at 10th and 14th. The two floors that cartoon network was housed in initially, actually did have those blinds. And my opinion of what is movable and what isn’t definitely skewed by that. Thanks, Great Video.

The only moment I can think of that got some pop-culture buzz in meme form was the Brock "Take it from me" scene.
Being a baby boomer this show to me has a cold war element James bond type of villains johnny quest adventure spy vs spy humor mad scientist antics. to me was really well made really enjoy watching it.

Your review / explaination to the birth and growth of VB show is very detailed . It's obvious your a fan, but I too have watched it since the first frame. On the begining , the piolet,was to me a true attention grabber. I remember thinking this is going to be a kick ass cartoon. I saw so much potential there. Eventually it grew beyond a cartoon into an epic adult ,action, soap opera that just grew and grew. I've barely felt stolen of my viewing time. So I think maybe your wrong or right or maybe too hard on it essence. Back to the piolet in my mind it keep to all the special genetics and was a hee of a get go leading into life of the show that it's end is over the over the top piolet. I enjoyed watching your review thx

With the ongoing collapse of HBO Max’s share of WB licenses and the cancelations of many different projects do you see the Venture Bros movie to still be possible or has it likely been scrapped? Somewhat related question, do you even think its possible to give the Venture Bros a satisfying conclusion within 2-3 hours with the sheer amount of plot lines and the high bar set by the series? It seems like a near-impossible feat of writing.
It seems impossible, but if there's any group of people who can pull it off, they're already on it.

I just stumbled upon this video and I'm excited to watch. The Venture Bros. has been my favorite TV Show ever since Season 2 (I've been watching since the pilot aired, but only became a fanboy once Season 2 dropped). And I don't mean favorite animated show, I mean favorite TV Show of all time. It's incredibly smart, witty, deep, funny, etc. It has it all: comedy, drama, coming of age, midlife existentialism, mystery, romance, superheroes, bureaucracy, etc. etc. I'm still in mourning over its cancellation.

Imo season one is a foundation season. It's rough but it's fun to see how different it was in style and plot while season two and three fits as a full story imo and idk if I was burnt out but I couldn't care about four and give unless the monarch was included but six and seven was so refreshing with how it formed around the new environment
It was sad we didn't get a movie or season 8 to clean the loose ends
the closest thing to a meme the venture bros has that has stuck with me is the mummy scene in season 1. "You have to defile a mummy completely or they come back to life"

I was thinking about this recently, and I think I would have liked to see Doc Venture accept Killinger's offer back in Season 3, if even just for a short while. Having Doc as a "bad guy" for a season would have given us a lot of interesting dynamic shifts, such as Brock being forced to find some new purpose (which he does in Season 4 anyway), The Monarch having to deal with being a "good guy" to continue arching (which he does in Season 6 anyway), and we would have gotten a much more thorough look at some of the Guild's inner workings (which we see Dr. Mrs. Councilwoman The Monarch navigating in Seasons 6 and 7).
I can even imagine Doc's defection having a ripple effect on the O.S.I. as they start dealing with antagonist relationships in order to stay close to the ORB while the Guild starts accepting more and more protagonists in order to get the OSI secrets they were hoping Rusty would give them. The finale of Season 3 would then see the OSI officially shifting to an antagonist organization (not a stretch considering some of the morally questionable actions they've taken in the past) while the Guild begins offering backup to protagonists (still not a stretch considering their commitment to things like workplace safety and social equity). And then we get some humor regarding the fact that nobody's job has really changed.

14:29 My DVD copy has the boys wearing Orange county helmets instead of the Busy Bee mind control caps. If memory serves, they were wearing the helmets when they were instructed to beat up the dummy in the "Patty Hearst" scene. It never made sense to me until I watched the episode on a streaming service where they were wearing the caps instead. I wonder why they went with the helmets.
