King Kobra was a very solid band ! I had purchased the first album and I truly believed this band was going to be big ! Carmine remains to this very day one of best drummers of in rock and roll ! Excellent feedback !
LOVE King Kobra "Ready to Strike Album". Love it. Saw them in concert in 1985 in Hays Ks. Opened for Autograph.... Just Great. Yes. Can't believe it. Saw Carmine Appice mow down them Drums.....ordered Strike CD. Took 8 weeks. But. I got it. Thank God...
Hate to see how time fucks up all of us slowly. Carmine looks tired and lacking air. But then again if he died tomorrow it should be celebrated. He lived the life of 20 men and his contributions to music (not to mention the ones of his brother as well) will always be legendary.
King Kobra were great. It’s a shame they didn’t make it to the big time. ‘Ready to Strike’ in my opinion is one of the best glam/hair metal albums of all time.
I remember first seeing "Hunger" on Night Flight on the USA network and being blown away by how great that song was! (I would find out years later it was a KICK AXE song that they covered). I went out and bought the record. The lead off track is solid too. Ready To Strike! They had all of the potential they just didn't have the right team behind them pushing the band more in the states.
Sad that Capital didn’t promote KingKobra better. They had such great hooks AND when you think of the work Sweda and Co did with Bullet Boys and with Marq’s voice… Also you guys flashed a pick of Dave Henzerling and NOT Lonnie Vencent BTW… SMH
Also, curious about the actual events Carmen references Bulletboys formation, not consistent with Sweda’s story IMO. Oh well, everybody has their perspective I guess. Not discounting Carmen’s efforts or devotion to the band and what it could have been.
To me, they appeared, physically, to be the exact opposite of the Vanilla Fudge. Where the Fudge were the three dark haired, olive skinned blokes, and one fair haired blonde named Timmy---King Kobra were all blonde, and only one dark haired, olive skinned bloke--Carmine!
That was the right thing to do for the bullet boys to give Carmine a gold record. truthfully, a legend like that did not belong in the hair metal scene. He probably knows it deep down as well. He had a distinguished career with some reputable names, to stoop himself down to what is generally a joke of a genre was sort of a career low point for him... The rest of the hair farmers went and found a faceless younger blonde to play drums and had a brief day in the sun 🌞.
I dunno, seems like he was fine with the music KK made which after all is all that matters. He admits they had to spend time and money to keep up with the fashion, but beyond that the music was as good or better than the genre norm. And Mark was definitely better than the norm. The "hair metal" thing is overblown because a quite diverse set of melodic hard rock bands are judged for using lots of hairspray and the merit and tone of their music is forgotten. It's like calling Disco "bell bottom" dance music or calling Punk "leather jacket" rock. I'll never understand how society managed to totally overlook the actual music of a genre and dwell so much on the image.
@@ryanjacobson2508 - you are right on. So many sonically great things came out of the 80s. To label it via the fashion is silly. I hate labels. Southern Rock is another i hate. Yeah...rock n Roll was born in the South. Memphis. Its like labeling it....Rock..Rock. don't get me wrong. Old record people will tell you that every geographical region has a certain sound, and its true. But its all music. I love the way in Europe festivals people dont care what "genre" the act is as long its its live and real.

I was such a huge fan of the first two albums.
I saw King Kobra, WASP and Ted Nugent in Austin at The City Coliseum back in 86. Ready to Strike, Last Command and Little Miss Dangerous tours.
This is the tour Blackie stole Johnny Rod.

Ready to Strike was one of the best records ever.

I saw them open up for Kiss and they blew me away. Big Fan of Ready to Strike album. Johnny Rod was nuts!

I always thought King Kobra kicked ass.One of those bands to blast going down the highway at high speed.

he seems like an old bitter man
He seems like a guy with a lot of true, interesting stories to tell. You seem like a clueless witch hunter.
@@alexhicks5889 yep he’s forgotten more than most will ever do
Folks used to say “ if you haven’t got something nice to say “ 🤐
Do you blame him.
