I just finished the book last week not much of a love story actually a lot more of the culture and politics of Baku fascinating read though I read the translated English version n in some parts some things do get lost in translation a bit not a relaxing easy read....read it with full interest and attention to get the most out of it!
Do you really think that country in witch since 2003 rulles one person (not even a party) chosen in election which is widly know didn't fulfill international standarts, moreover a person who got chosen by his father to be a president deserves to be promoted as in 2:30 ? "Free press", are you kidding me?? Going farther with your logic Bashar Al Assad and Syria is also a great self govern, democratic country. BTW Syria is actualy more democratic than azerbeijan but you don't seem to care about facts...
dumb! read alot about caucasian history. At that times Azerbaijan was one of the first countries that granted suffrage to women in 1918. What are you talking about?
it meant much at those times, and the book is actually about events happened at that times in history not today. And the phrase "free press" itself is quite cloudy and open to be debated since I'm pretty sure of the fact that there's no "free press" anywhere in the world, there're certain dark-confidental organisations that have the mass media under the influence of their interest. Even in contries normally considered "free, democratic", such as USA, or western european contries we can't talk about any "free press" which conveys the unvarnished truth.
GEORGIA IS MOST DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY IN THAT REGION, THE REST AR KREMLINS PAPPETS , BAKU UNDER TURKEY INFLUENCE TO DAY AND THATS WY IS ONE PRESIDENT FOREVER, IT'S SAD BUT IT'S GOOD COUNTRY . I'M GEORGIAN AND WE REMEMBER BIG HELP FROM AZERBAIJAN IN BAD DAYS

This documentary is about 1917, not about 2017, you idiot. When the Republic was formed in 1918 it had free press.
