The HMG emplacement Strat is INSANELY useful on this mission. It hits hard enough to take down the bots when they funnel into kill zones. If you set up two HMGs on the platforms on either side of the gates, you can create overlapping fields of fire that melt all but the heaviest bots. Hulks and Tanks are the only things that can give pause, and the hulks can be hit on their red eyeslit fairly easily. The Quasar cannon and orbital laser make this mission so much easier. And of course, the trusty 500MG Bomb can level the playing field when the drops become too numerous.

I would actually recommend against the laser if you are trying to keep your doors up as long as possible. If a bot gets right up to the wall while the laser is out, the laser can and will immediately destroy the door
Careful with orbital lasers on this one. As per usual, our weapons do not care if they hit friend or foe, and I _might_ have destroyed one of our gates with it.
I keep telling the cadets to NOT orbital strike the gates -.-. Those damn berserkers practically rub their greasy chainsaws together seeing a panicked cadet with an orbital strike stratagem.
I love this mission... the kill box and strat spam is the best xD FYI... The smaller bots can still call drops and bring them right on top of you, so they will drop in the back but can get to a point where it's right on your head. Everyone needs the EMS sentry and Orbital EMS strike at some point. Auto Cannon Sentry. 500 KG. Laser. Auto cannon.. anything that just goes BVOOMMM! I see on average maybe 10 hulks and 4-5 tanks at a time lol....
It's literally BRILLIANT from the devs. "Our players aren't really using heavy armor, large shield generators, or really any other turrets....let's make a game mode that prioritizes all of those!"
yup, thats how working against a certain meta works; not nerfing said meta items to death but instead elevating other items to create their own meta…because once devs nerf the meta to death players need to find another meta/strong alternative and thats what gets most players to lose interest *cough* riot games *cough*

I found it amazing you guys were able to do the hold despite giving up the first wall up so early. We find that heavy armor with fortified perk, vitality booster, ems and mortar sentry works well in this map.
When super earth gets attacked I think we will get more of that . The textures and farm equipment are already in the game so will be added soon I imagine . I hope we get that sooner than later though, it would be epic .
Pro tip for this mission, grab a walking barrage and when it gets rough throw it so it fires through the doors, obviously don’t fire it when the door is still functional though. Cluster bomb is also a life saver same with the 500 kg bomb.

we did 4 of these last night, got our stride after the first 2 losses. one of which was when the dropships started dropping tanks INSIDE the base and it broke the generator when we shot it down by mistake and it crashed into the ground. must haves : at least 1 mortar and 1 quasar per diver. only 1 EMP mortar, anymore and you guys are slowed as well. get Gas Strikes, damn things are very effective. orbital burst strike. oh, and try to call down as many quasars as you can, so you can fire and swap while its on cooldown. hella fun mission
Please share this idea I think everyone will agree. I think the studio should allow real companies to run ads on the ships TVs. The companies would have to create ads as if they were in the Helldivers universe. This would allow Arrowhead to generate more money for the studio. We would also get a ton of hilarious commercials and everyone wins. Could you image a Tide commercial where a soldier is using detergent to clean blood or oil off their armor? Or grabbing a Pizza Hut pizza after killing bugs all day? I think it’s a great idea what do y’all think?

back from the front. spreading the word in the new defense mission, spamming Shield Relays on the gate keeps it alive. 2 of us kept the very front gate up until the 8th rocket (on level 7)
For the flank defense on the landing pad. Drop a static and regular motar back a bit and then call down 2-3 quasar cannons so you can shoot down the multiple drop pods that will land each time. (Shoot, swap, shoot, swap, shoot, swap.) You will stall the right flank landings and chew up those that manage to get to the ground.
Wow, I'm glad we waited to have 4 of us to try this! Also quick PSA side note I feel like the orbital precision strike is underrated. As you start with it at level 1 I think people write it off. I'd still pick the railcannon strike for bugs just because its easier to hit fast targets, but for bots it can 1 shot tanks & hulks, has a much faster cooldown than the railcannon and a bigger AOE. Especially useful on this mode where you can get the large targets to sit still at the gates and just drop it right on them
I think they should have waited a bit before the bot counter attack. Let the victory breathe and feel like a calm before the storm. Like make it feel like the bots retreated to build up this new giant force. Now it just feels like the bots were holding back for no reason.
Found you through the first video from Jackfraqs of Helldivers 2. Jack has gone a bit too mainstream for my liking nowadays. Glad you are sticking around with Helldivers, spilling oil and killing bugs.
A good strategy might be to keep the door open until the bots are in spitting range, to preserve the structural integrity. once the wave is repelled, open the door again continue preserving the integrity.
I feel this is what the extermination missions should have been (not necessarily in concept but in structure). Instead of an open structure where the enemy comes from all sides, have more of a fort like structure (or a conjunction point where enemies come from) to better facilitate organization and strategy (else it devolves into pure insanity being flanked from all sides), like instead of being timer based (rockets launch), just have a kill count.
The defense mission is unreal! Top tip when you lose the first 2 gates split up 2 top firing from the last gate which you leave open to stop it getting damaged and two defending from the broken gate game changer for bots as they focus fire on the divers on the second gate not the last

Most optimal strategems here is two quasar and two railgun then 4 mortars. Doublr quasar on both players would ramp up the amount of dropship you can shootdown especially near the end of the run where you could see more than 5 dropship coming at the same time
this is like the old defense mission evryone with 2 motars each all with autocannon turrets 2 with anti person minefield 2 with quasar or anti tank rockets and watch the massacre.
So they took something out of the game pissing some people off, then brought it back sooner than anyone expected and better then it already was. Good stuff, they are on one hell of roll.
Would be cool if we get convoy escort and outside the wire missions for this. Imagine trying to help a caravan inside the fob qith 4 of your buddies and you'd have to fight you way through until you get to the base.

Somehow dropships that can drop bots anywhere never drop them behind the walls of the base...this mission is cool but if you're well armed with EMS mortars, the right eagle call ins and quasar cannons to take down dropships its a snooze.
I just thought of something, lemme know what yall think. I think upgrade materials shouldn't drop on death, but rather be tied to extraction. When I've been dying all game, I don't care too much about extracting with my 5 mats, but if they were allowed to build up over time without being lost, I'd complete the mission, have a moment of joy, then realize I've got 30 crafting resources at stake if I don't extract. It'd make extraction even more important.
I played this mission today and it was awesome. Mortar turrets on the whole team made it waay easier though. It only difficulty 8 however, not 9 like this.
This is a great new mission that would be SUPER fun against the bugs, but the civilian extraction missions on level 9 are still almost impossible nightmare! Joel fix the drop rate of the bots for this mission!

FYI... The smaller bots can still call drops and bring them right on top of you, so they will drop in the back but can get to a point where it's right on your head.

Drop a second one in mid gate then keep fire and switch during overheating.
Use both mortars. One stuns them, one kills then. Offset the whole match. Of two people do this, you’ll have like 5-6 out at one time.

Using mortars and a Quasar Cannon for the drop ships makes this much more casual when playing solo on Helldive.
