- I made a robot from scratch! Well, from a lighter. A single lighter. This was a really fun challenge and I loved coming up with solutions within such narrow parameters. This could be used for tabletop games or just to make a fun friend. Let me know what you think and consider supporting me if you like what I do!

haha I could see that!
Next challenge: turn a robot into a lighter. Amazing build, really loving this one!
🤣 Thanks! That challenge sounds harder than this one!
An amazing result from such a small item that people just chuck into landfill every day.
Thanks for sharing, a truly inspirational build.
I have just been taking loads of lighters apart for bits to add to my builds.
Thanks! It's amazing what a little bit of "trash" can be made into at small scales.
I'll definitely be taking apart more lighters as I encounter them 👍
Really enjoyable to see this cool little guy come together!
Thanks!😁👍
Awesome! A Canadian robot. Well done!
Haha thanks. Not sure he's Canadian but the colors work well together 👍
That's very cute. I really like it!!
Thank you! 視聴してくれてありがとう!
Your work inspires others .
While reading the comments below, you now have many people taking apart lighters to make a robot .
That is awesome.
When I have time , I will try this myself.
Great work, SOOOO KOOOOOLLLLL .
Thank you! Inspiration is the best 👍 we can all spread it around and everyone only gets better at their craft!
Just awesome 👏
Wow I’m trying that in my shed tomorrow! Thanks great idea 😊😊😊😊
Awesome! Have fun with it 😁👍
Amazing build from trash. I will have to try this.
Thank you! I grabbed another empty lighter I saw in the recycling bin at work shortly after this build 😂
Fantastic. You got a brilliant eye for parts and shapes. very nice.
Thank you! It's fun finding out what the project will look like along the way. I'm not sure I can make a plan 😂
Yes! Scrap builds are great, and - as you did - saving the crap, dust and offcuts is a great source of filler, shims and bracing, without using more 'good' plastic.
Cheers! It was a fun challenge to use as much of the lighter as I could 👍
Achievement unlocked. Fantastic junk bashing! 🤖
Thank you! There's another junk robot coming very soon! (hopefully this weekend)
crazy cool the level of imagination that went into this is aweome
Thanks Neil! It's always fun to stretch your imagination!
now that is a cool idea, doing a build based off of one item. cool bot BP!!! great design and look, plus great painting
Thanks Qujin! He came out exactly as I didn't plan 😂 there's not usually a plan
Thats a neat little challenge, you had me glued the entire time lol
😂😂 I see what you did there!
how clever!
Thank you! I love this little guy
Wow! Brilliant!
Thanks!
I could tell this was your first time dismantling a lighter of this kind.
Having taken thousands of lighters apart, a couple of times I was telling the screen, "NO!..there's a ..wait..THAT part is a.. NO! AH! He found the...There it is." LOL
Nice result BTW. VERY 50's sci-fi look to him. Thumbs Up.
I bet there are a ton of lighter parts that would look great on your cars for cables, exhaustrs, lasers etc. They are a great source of all kinds of amazing little tiny bits of tin, brass, plastic and rubber.
There has to be a first time. I'll definitely keep an eye out for more, though I don't use lighters regularly or more than a couple times a year 😂
@@BPCustomCreations Yep, That's the hard part. I'd never buy one just to break it with out using it first and not too many occasions where I need one. So I just chase my wife around the house when she lights her scented candles in the hopes I get one of hers when it finally runs out and befroe she tosses it in a rubbiush bin.
Awesome build mate 👍 Paintjob looks great .
Thanks Danny! It's a good feeling when you choose the right colors 👍
I had no idea, nor had I ever given any thought, to what was inside one of those lighters! Quite amazing. And I thought working on a 1/64 car was micro surgery! Brilliant work, Ben. Perfect kind of project for someone with your imagination. It reminded me of an old Bic lighter commercial jingle, so I'm calling him Flick! That was a totally enjoyable 18 minutes. Thanks! 🍁🔥👍
That's the best name! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! It seems like the ones I make into the wee hours of the morning turn out the best 😂😂
This is very impressive!
Thank you!
Absolutely amazing, super creative!
Thank you!
Looks super cool!
Cheers! This was a fun one 😁
I’m absolutely loving your most recent content. It’s a real treat to see you working with tight constraints 😍😍
It's been easier to create with constraints for me than the "make anything" approach. Too many options without some kind of parameters 😂
I love it. Legit amazing.
Thank you!
I really like the outcome. Working within a set of limitations, whether color or material or technique produces neat design choices.
Thank you! I completely agree about limitations. It's basically the only way I can finish projects 😂😂
It came out great! Awesome work
Thank you! It was a fun challenge
So cool, I can't believe you made that all happen with one lighter brother!! I probably missed a few opportunities to utilize the "cut it in half" way of having two... Good tip!👍👊
There were so many parts than I expected to find! The double trick only works if you need two of something at half the length 🤔 😂
Thanks for sharing
Sure thing! I'm glad you liked it 👍
WOWZA!!!! That's amazing how much you utilized from the lighter. That turned out soooooo cool! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you! I finally made a robot 😁
Dude, this came out great! Also I really love the idea of making something using only one kind of dissected item. Might be a cool challenge to try myself!
Thanks! It would be cool to see what you can make with a lighter or other very narrow resource pool! It always helps me focus when I have fewer options.
Amazing.
This looks cool. Great job
Thank you!
Awesome! I love this project, not enough robot creators out there. I watch a mixture of different types of builds but scifi/cyberpunk is my jam. Looks great!
Thank you! You'll love my current project when it comes out 😁👍
Good timing to find the channel!
I like it !
Incredible build . Well done 👍
Thank you!
talent and super creative with match material can be conjured into miniature figures || great 👍😊
Thanks! Building something from trash is so fun and rewarding!
@@BPCustomCreations ok friend same 😊
Very clever!
Thanks 😁👍
Oooooooh, this is NICE! I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow, thanks for the inspiration and great content :)
That's great to hear Andre! I hope you have a good time making a little bot!
Very cool! Great job
Thank you!
Wow..... this is very creative and a very brilliant idea😍😍
amazing my friend 🙌🙋
Thank you 😎👍
@@BPCustomCreations you're welcome my friend 🙌🙋
Awesome build!
Wow! Thank you so much 😁👍
Love it!
Thank you!
Awesome work 👍. Your always is inspiring, keep it coming!
Thank you! I'm glad I can pass along inspiration I get from other builders too!
Def inspired me and made me want to buy a lighter just so that I can make a cool Lil guy like yours. Nicely done 👌🏼
There are so many parts inside! 👍
@@BPCustomCreations I was shook watching you take it all apart. If u showed me this the beginning I'd find it hard to believe u lol
Soooo cool! The amount of engineering that went into that lighter is insane lol. Love these types of videos. Great job as always 😎👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!! It's crazy how many bits are packed into such a tiny thing you'd never think about.
Superbe, rien de tel que la création pour sublimer nos sens.
Thank you! 😁
Really cool
thanks!
This is great!
Thank you! 😎👍
Super cool.
Thank you!
Amazing thanks for sharing 😲😍🔥🔥🔥👍👊😎
No problem! I love challenging myself and sharing the results. 😁👍
You Sir...picked the RIGHT lighter. lol There are a number of larger lighters so WHO KNOWS what you can do with the next one?
I wish we had a little contest/challenge that involved "MAke _THIS or "something" out of THIS/Something and/or /specific thing".
I love to see how many different intepretations different people have of an object and what tehy can do with it.
Start one! Someone has to organize it and once you get the ball rolling, see where it goes 👍
Very cool, man!
Thank you!
Super cool, great vid Great build!!!!!
Thank you so much 👍 I always worry about paint colors but I think I chose the right ones this time!
@@BPCustomCreations Great color choices!
Wow, you have an astonishing talent for seeing something out of nothing. This is an amazing build.
Thank you so much 😊
I'm a tad bit addicted. Seriously love this 👌🏼🧡 great job fam
Thanks! There's worse things to be addicted to 😂
@@BPCustomCreations you're welcome. And yeah xD definitely is. Just love the craftiness and using plastic and making the most out of something that's gonna go in the bin. Idk after watching Studson you're my 2nd favourite I'd say 😁😁
This is the cutest trash bash vid ive seen 🥰
Thank you! He has a new home now but it was a fun character to make 😁👍
Oh, Ben... Such a jeweler's grade job...
I got a headache just watching it.
Oh. No. I'm just hungover.
I love Flick. He is trying to look so manacing. Which is so cute, considering his size :)
You should make him an enemy (I would suggest dirty green one) and leave them posed in forever fight.
Absolutely delightful video. Thanks!!! (Just don't sing anymore... The "pieeeeces" part made me grab some aspirin.)
Thanks! I like the idea of making him a foe to stand off against. That`ll make the pose easier to decide as well. I don`t remember singing anything so I`ll have to go back and rewatch it haha. I was recorded the voiceover at 2am so some of it may have gotten a bit loopy.
this is so cool
Thanks! It's probably about time I made another robot too 🤔
Awesome!
Thanks!
Great idea ! Great built. When i see such, i think i‘m wasting my brain 😅
Thanks! Haha everyone uses their brain for something 😁👍
At first I’m thinking oh no it’s gonna be boring. And I start watching this presentation and it’s outstanding! I am hooked and I’ve subscribed to this channel! Great video!
Thank you so much!
This is the kind of feedback I would love to get more of too.
Would you mind telling me why you thought it would be boring so I can improve for future videos? I'm all ears! 👂
@@BPCustomCreations The majority of videos with title like yours are gaslight and I thought it was more of a save the planet fanboy video. We all need to recycle for the goddess Gaia and the sake of our mother/daddy planet. It was a RUclips recommendation and I really wasn’t going to watch it. I was wrong and I’m glad I saw it. I just saw your spaceship video and you’re a very talented artist.
@@rafah9696 thank you for the compliments and the feedback 😁
You'd love my vending machine robot too!
Awesome! And that cheat you did halfway through. We'll allow it:-) That was really not a cheat, the chunks all came from the lighter.
Thanks! 😂
The chunks were fine, it was the excessive use of baking soda to create something out of nothing. I could make a whole build with only baking soda/super glue with enough time 😁
@@BPCustomCreations but you said from the beginning you were gonna use baking soda, we'll allow that as well :-)
This is my comment to appease the great algorithm
Nice work Ben! Very creative and an excellent execution.
Thank you!!
Had no idea of the amount of parts in a lighter. Your results surprised me, it actually looks amazing. As for the pose of the left arm, have him crossing it to his upper right as though he is doing a battle salute with his sword raised out. That could be a decent pose for the little fella!
Thank you! I was so surprised by all the parts too. He's a fun little robot. I'll have to make another 🤔🤔
This is great! You should challenge @BillMakingStuff to a lighter build off.
😂 I think Bill only barely knows I exist.
Dude that's nice! I was starting to miss you jaja I've seen all kinds of things made with a lighter but yours is definitely on top of my list!! The level of creativity, detail and how you managed to use all of it even the plastic dust just blows my mind it turned out super nice!!
😂 Thanks Rodrigo! I didn't go anywhere, things just take a while with kids and work and sometimes sleeping lol.
This came out better than I expected and I think I lucked out with the color choices!
Use a regular small paint brush or makeup brush with the weathering powder. Works so much better man
Yeah, I do that with my crushed pastels. These tamiya "powders" are more dense (oily?) than a standard powder. I just got them kind of recently so I'll experiment.
So amazing watching you building this robot! It looks so good. Really great work. Didn't know that you could do that. Really like your videos.
Thanks Emil! I`m glad you enjoyed it! I am constantly inspired by seeing other builders make things I didn`t know were possible either.
Whenever I start something simple it gets complicated real fast!!
And thats a damn nice bot! You didn't even move when you shocked yourself xD I would curse like a trucker!!
Thanks! I never know where I'm going to end up when I start so that's all part of the fun 👍
The shock is almost nothing and I was doing it intentionally so it wasn't a surprise 😂
Ever stick a 9V battery to your tongue? Gotta check if it's still got juice somehow 😛🔋
@@BPCustomCreations I made a small tesla coil when I was still living with my parents. Mom rang the door bell which was damn loud, while I was testing it, I caught on a wire, landed on my lap WHILE IT WAS STILL RUNNING. Now you :p
@@SciFiCrafts You win 😂😂
@@BPCustomCreations Not my crotch, but I know what you mean :p if you ever wanna do a "challenge" where we make stuff, let me know! Working on a Yakult mech right now.

Thank you!
Such an amazing creation .... I love the idea of turning a piece of random crap, into something awesome...I'm giving this a go 🙂plus just found your channel and it's incredible and inspiring...keep up the great work and content

@@BPCustomCreations I've kinda watched a few now since this video, and your work is ace 👍
Amazing figures you made bro, glad I subscribed, and stopped by 👍😎👊
Thank you! There's always more to come too 😎👍
This is awsome my son actually found you by mistake and i heard the video he was watching first was the apocalyptic scratch built bus video so we watched all ypur videos together with the fiance he loves modeling videos now and he is 6. I now save all my lighters that die and soda cans plastics from packaging that are unique in shape or flat for making parts and broken toys from the kids and ect and i built a super cool robot model toy for my son that is about a foot tall. He is 6 and said dad I didn't know you could make new toys using broken toys and garbage he said this is fun let me go get more toys to take apart i saud no don't go brealing tpys just to use to build another robot bud. It's called recycling. Im not a huge recycling person or save the earth freak but I am glad you inspired me to show my son that with some imagination brokem toys and trash you can make anything you want. He went online and siscovered ninja turtles looking for what he wanted his robot to look like so he wanted a ninja turtle tramsformers and alien looking thing for his robot and it turned out super cool and i used nuts and bolts and brass tubing to make the arms and legs and torso and head move so he can use it as a action figure toy. I painted it to look old rusty and weathered I didn't use tamiya powders cuse its toxic if kids get it in their mouth so I used pastels and sand paper to make safe powders and sprayed flat clear coat to seal it all in. It like a junk post apocalyptic alien robot that had to use what ever he could find to make repairs to his body parts through out years as they broke.
I'm glad I can provide some inspiration to you and your son. 😊
Enjoy making things together!
Awesome 🤘🍻🤘
Thank you! 😁👍
A Thorbot. Nice. When is the kickstarter?
Thanks! I'll have to get a bunch more lighters 🤣🤣
Excellent. I have a lighter that doesn't work. But I need to empty it first.
Be very careful when you do this! I did the same thing with a full lighter and there was a giant hiss of gas + fuel in my face. Had there been any spark around it would've gotten ugly. Make sure you dissemble it pointing away from your face, and preferably outside.
@@gameyybuilds thanks... that was my plan. Might add a bit of lubricant to top. Seems to have seized.
Good looking out Gameyy! Galth, I highly recommend using spent lighters or taking extreme care to be safe when messing around with fuel and igniters!
osommmmmmmm!!!!
Thanks!
Bro….just WOW! That is amazing, 😂!!! Question…what does the baking soda do with the super glue???
Thanks Charles! The baking soda adds a huge amount of surface area for the glue to coat which helps it to cure instantly. At least that's my understanding. There's nothing going on chemically with the baking soda and you can use other fine powders in the same way! Baking soda is dirt cheap and files and sands nicely 👍
@@BPCustomCreations I was wondering because I have seen it done many times but with no explanation, appreciate the answer and great video, enjoyed it immensely!!!
Robo-warrior
Right on 👍 cute but fierce? Haha
What is your rotary tool called? (What model) I’m curious cuz the adjustable width of the beak seems really useful for a lot off things!
It's a cheap one (Black and Decker RTX) but the thing you want to get is the adjustble chuck. It's something you can buy separately and it's a must for me. I think this one is from Proxxon but dremel probably sells them too
How do you safely disassemble a lighter?
Just make sure it's completely empty. There shouldn't be an issue
@@BPCustomCreations Cool thank you!
really cool build. way to small and fiddly for me to attempt..
Thanks! You never know until you give it a go 👍
Is it heavy? No is Lighter
Lighter than what? That's the real question.
