Matador is the first of the optional bosses that I’ll be covering in this playthrough, which will include all of the former DLC bosses and others that I find interesting to some extent, mostly from the third area of the game and later. Unlike the main story bosses, these may actually be unlocked a bit earlier than when I attempt them, but I will be doing my best to defeat them as soon as realistically possible. While none of these bosses will be completed on the primary save file for EXP purposes, as an added restriction I will be subtracting any non-farmable (or difficult-to-farm) consumable items that I use during these battles from the inventory of my main save file. Items that I will be restricting include Beads, Bead Chains, Soma Drops, Chakra Pots, Somas, Balm of Lifes, Amrita Showers, Purge and Dispel Charms, and elemental Gems (until they become purchasable).
I know someone who got instakilled by Matador before they could even act due to Crippling Blow. Matador went for a basic attack on the MC, got a crit, and the instakill from Crippling Blow. To say they were confused was an understatement.
Not to say that stuff like that can’t be annoying, but there’s always going to be moments like that in this series and it is, to an extent, what you signed up for. At least your progress isn’t reset to a terminal anymore. Also, having Physical resistance on the Nahobino helps from here through the first half of Shinagawa.
@@Bucketgetter to be fair with how fights are mostly just scripted shits nowadays moments like that does make me appreciate how much RNG element can make the game much more fun while still challenging and not bullshit.
Guess it could be interesting seeing the other fiends in this challenge run considering I stop trying to find them after the Matador fight left a bad first impression for me since I spent a while on my single playthrough getting insta killed from the innate skill.
funny how matador's passive is so scary here but isn't really useful on the player's side ...until you're on godborn, where a yabusame shot matador/abaddon is pretty much a necessity for grinding macca for those virtual trainer fights and superbosses
The vast majority of unique passives in this game were designed for player use, so there aren’t many that are relevant in boss battles aside from bosses unique to Vengeance.
@Bucketgetter it's kinda funny how the gimmick with lucifer's balls was retroactively called an innate skill and is the only innate to have a completely negative effect
Matador's innate skill is very funny, but thankfully it doesnt happen much in the boss itself. It is funny how he's one of the few fiends that sort of got a buff but future ones like Harlot and Trumpeter recieved a nerf (I guess cause their resistances were too good).

Finally! Someone who doesn’t skip the animations.. Thanks! 😊
Nozuchi being used in this fight is a canon event
Matador's innate skill makes this fight very "fun" and "entertaining"
what, you don't like being one shot by an unlucky basic attack crit on the nahobino with little to none counterplay whatsoever?

Tbf, Phys resist basically solves that problem, and Nozuchi conveniently has Phys resist and is not weak to Force

It would be happening very often if I weren’t guarding on Magatsuhi, and this was one of the few attempts I did not suffer a critical.
I don't get it. At 9:03 Turdak uses Rasetsu Feast and after that it's still his turn. How so?
rasetsu feast is a magatsuhi move, and using them dont take up actions
Ayooo
