seeing someone disliking this video makes me sad. this legend spent his personal time explaining things that some people (including myself) struggle to get one's head around and still, there are some individuals who would prefer to give a dislike rather than just leave. he was straight to the point and did what the video title says. i mean..., what the heck??
Thank you for this video. The observation about the tilting problem, how to fix it, and how to fold it were useful. Edit: While installing mine I realized you mount it differently from what's in my manual. If you mount it horizontally, you should have enough space to mount the diffuser and tilt it.
Just spent the last 3 hours pouring over monopods, attachments, and mounts trying to find something that would work. Sure wish I found your video about 2.5 hours ago. Thanks bud!
Great that u recorded and shared this! what a tricky fold and tuck trick for those soft boxes. Appreciate your tips. Your video looks great, sound quality is good. and the lighting (for one LED light) was showing nicely.
Hey I just figured out how to attach the lights so that they tilt in any position with the softboxes attached without the umbrella brackets. Just lift the entire panel off the stand and mount them back on at a 90 degree angle. The illustration on how this is accomplished is in the instruction manual. Notice that there are 2 sets of holes in the panel bracket. The second set is for attaching the panel bracket at a 90 degree angle to the upright stand. When done properly the entire panel adjusts in any angle. It works great.
Yes, newer (Neweer) models have a second hole in the bracket to mount at 90 degrees, as per this video ruclips.net/video/GFb4myydHYk/видео.html The original version (in this video) did not have the 2nd hole
I guess that could work since i have the P600 model that comes with a very light diffuser but they don't make anything else for my panels.. Thanks a lot for sharing the umbrella trick too !
All the flaps go over the unit, then just use the velco the best you can. Doesn't have to be perfect. Just try and make it so light doesn't leak from the sides.
@@hamstergraphics Thanks, especially for the umbrella attachment info. I have the same lighting panels. They just came in a couple days ago. Still learning to set them up properly.
While the idea of the umbrella adapter is great, it’s worth noting that while all the promotional shots of the light have it standing vertically at the top of the light stand, it can be mounted perpendicularly to the light stand, too, without any adapter. (This sort of mounting is actually shown in section 2 of the guide that came with the light.) Clearly, you need light stand with broad enough base to have it sticking out at 90 degrees (esp once you add the soft box), but it worked great for me.
You're talking about a different version of the 660, which has a hole in the side of the mount. Mine (bought about a year ago) don't have the hole so can't be mounted in the way you suggest. You must have the "2-directional interface design".
On the new version of these lights they have drilled an additional set of holes in the light base so it can be mounted at 90 degrees on the light stand without the need to buy the umbrella mount. I am going to try to try to drill these holes in my older 660's and see if it works. Thanks for the video!
Of course you can tilt the light even with the sot box attached, just change the way way you are fixing the light to the tripod, instead of vertical place it "horizontal" then you can tilt it, greetings from Mexico.
Just a note. The light brackets now have an additional hole drilled in them, so you can mount on the stand horizontally. No need for that extra angle bracket. These lights are great. I have 10 of them now! (For Home Studio and Office Studio)
I’ve just bought the 660 rgb version and didn’t know about the tilt problem so thanks for this info. You mention in your description that the new versions don’t have this problem. So the rgb one have this problem?
@@ibizaamigos Not sure to be honest, but if you look at yours on this link, the 6th image shows the hole for horizontal or vertical mounting, so it should be fine amzn.to/3SMjMgS
With the current black models, the bracket that attaches to the stand has side holes so you can mount the light frame at 90 degrees and get full motion. I have a blue model as well that doesn't have this feature and neewer sent me some replacement brackets that do - so I'm assuming all newer (no pun intended) models will have this 90 degree bracket
@@hamstergraphics Hello, this is actually the same link as above. There are a few options and I purchased the one on the top of the link you provided. I just received it today and they tip where the light would attach is a flash shoe and I cannot figure out how to mount my light to the adapter. I see in the video the top of your adapter is different. It's not a flash shoe mount. Would you clarify which adapter does work with this light? Thank you!
The umbrella holder/adapter may no longer be available...since the link takes to a whole page of options on Amazon. Can you clarify/recommend one that you would use now? Thank you!
@@hamstergraphics you can't squeeze them in, there's a frame around the Velcro, the whole light is not supposed to go inside the soft box, it should just be strapped on top of it, if that makes sense. That way there are no tilting issues either.
You don't need it. Just mount the panel at 90 degrees to the stand using the second set of pre drilled holes. Done properly the panel can rotate180 degrees. With the softboxes attached. They can face the floor all the up to the ceiling. It works great.
@@hamstergraphics I got a 2 light kit with tripod and softbox delivered from amazon today and it had the bad softbox :[ I wonder if i should just rip a hole in the bottom of it lol
Sure, you would still be somewhat limited with the amount you could angle before the umbrella hit the stand. Still, mute point these days as they fixed the issue.
You don’t actually show us how to attach the soft box as it’s all facing you. Terrible video
I truly apologize for ruining your day.
@@hamstergraphics my day's not ruined pal, don't worry about that xoxo

Noticed the same thing. The horizontal hole mount completely has enough space to tilt. No extra parts thankfully
Ive been trying for ages to fold down my softbox. This finally solved it!🎉

Thanks for showing how to fold this, which is overlooked on so many of the videos on how to use this.
perfect thank you for the demmo on how to break it down I haven't ever done in in the year I had it so had no idea lol thanks
Nice one - I was struggling to get the softbox folded and back in the bag - thanks for the clear instructions

good video man, helpful
Man, you are great! The most helpfull video since you showed the way it can be folded. No one else did.
Thanks for sharing this, it certainly solved my problem. You'd think Neewer would include them in the set.
They have apparently fixed by adding an extra hole in newer (Neweer) models
The Fold!! Thank you...
Glad it helped!
ehhhh gotta love the zoom h4ns . just finally threw away mine but it lasted like 12 years lol.
Yeah I rarely use it these days
So like... how do you attach the softbox TO the light? I guess that's a simpler question than you were trying to answer.
Just make sure all the soft box flaps are on the back of the LED box, then velco closed the best you can. Main thing is not to have any light spill.
Thank you so much!
This was sooo helpful!! Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Perfect solution for the tilt! Thanks.

Hi great video but I cannot find the umbrella adapter you said mantis or many Did upon mean mactrem?

You can already put it at a 90 degree directly onto the stand

What about the light quality???
Pretty good.
The overall studio where you film looks a bit dull. A bit of colour in the background would be nice. Sound and image are just fine.
Well, I've got to say mine simply will not fold the way demonstrated. I cannot tuck the corners in as shown, despite dozens of attempts.
thank you!!
informative and useful video EXCEPT you didnt actually show how you strapped it on to the light.
Stickapot Velcro straps, pretty straight forward as to how its attached to the light.
My lights came with barn doors so I presume I have to remove them!
If you are using the soft box, yes you have to remove the barn doors. Don't loose the thumb screws!
@@hamstergraphics Thank you I figured that would be what I had to do!
The newer 660 light have a double mounting mout so you won't run into this problem. :)
