MEMBERS:
🦖 J Mascis - lead vocals, guitar
🦖 Lou Barlow - bass, backing & lead vocals
🦖 Murph - drums
BIO: (courtesy of Stephen Thomas Erlewine at allmusic.com & bandsintown)
Released early in 1993, Where You Been benefited greatly from the commercial breakthrough of alternative rock, and many of the articles surrounding the album's release hailed Mascis as an alternative godfather. It became the first Dinosaur album to chart, peaking at number 50, and it generated the modern rock hit "Start Choppin."
Dinosaur Jr. is now widely recognized as one of the most significant American rock bands of all time; the sound they pioneered in the late-80s having permeated through the past 20 years. Preceding Nirvana by several years, they were instrumental in bringing the crashing sounds of lead guitar back to indie rock. It wasn't just their signature metallic haze that made an impression on listeners; their effects-laden guitars were wrapped around some of the best songwriting of the decade. Видеоклипы
This is by far the most I've ever heard J talk onstage, and the most comfortable I've seen him
Kim seems genuinely happy. Warms my heart!
Lou Barlow definitely marches to his own drum. He's by far the head bangin'est hippie to ever grace the stage. What a guy!!!!
I was at the 12/2-12/4 shows. They were magical. I actually cried a few times on the first two nights, hearing the record performed in song order. What Else is New, Get Me, Hide, and Goin Home in particular.
Love these guys!
Love hearing Kim Deal on Tarpit and performing with this great band. Maybe she could do more with them, her voice really fits their song well. thanks Dinosaur Jr for featuring her. and great vid!
Thanks!🤘
j looked like he was thinking the same thing as soon as she started singing the song.
It could totally be on Last Splash
@@Caribou1983 they did do more together
I didn't know how much I needed to see Dino Jr. cover Pixies until now!
I was at that show. that night was something else seeing kim play with dino at the front
Couldn't believe the luck having Kim play during our show!!! Epic! 🤘🤘
Murph is on fire!!
Dudes a total animal. I'm actually fixated on him this whole video. No economy, no shortcuts....
He's the absolute mvp lately! On such a small set too!
The love I have for all 3 of these guys has no bounds. So good to their fans and such amazing sounds. All things considered, my favorite extant band, and definitely the best of the last 30-40 years. Love you, dinosaur!
🤘🤘
A real treat for my eyes and ears, the sheer power is never lost! MOOOOOORE 🪨🎯
🤘🗿🤘
TARPIT is such a perfect song for KIM. WHAT a TREAT !!!!!!!!!!
I wonder what Lou thought when he started to learn the 90s dino tunes...
Man, it's so cool to see them play this whole album live. It's great that 2 or 3 songs get some love on their normal set lists, but there are so many good songs on this record that I wasn't sure they'd ever play again. Seeing Lou really embrace all these songs is great too. It seems much healing has occurred between these dudes.
I'm not sure if they've already done it but I'd love to see them do the same thing for Green Mind. I heard some fans shouting for Blowing It and Water which would have absolutely made the evening even more special than it already was.
@@sesipro I don't think they did a Green Mind album set but they did Bug & luckily I caught one of those shows myself! Would love to see the deeper GM cuts played live!
Edit- they'd have to do Blowin' It > I Live For That Look!
Love seeing J so happy and the band on fire! 💜🔥 🤟🎸
Superb! You very lucky people.
I've seen all of them many times, under all their different guises, but never together! Thanks for posting
You're welcome, thanks for the watch and cool comment! It was just sheer luck we all picked the date Kim was a guest! Couldn't have been more thrilled! 🤩
Just love the What Else Is New they are doing during this album run... thanks for the vid!
You bet, thanks for watching! Yeah that shooom effect towards the end of the song is a real nice touch 🔥
@@sesipro flanger.
Thanks for the info! 👍

@@ioncewasmikeynope, that’s a flanger
They should deserve more recognition; I bought recently the vinyl from this album. A long wait since my youth. I don’t know why I took so long.
Let’s hope they do a Hand it Over anniversary!
My God! The drummer is insanely good!!! Very Cool Show...
Murph is one of the best on those drums !
What a gem, thanks so much for the upload!
Anytime! Thanks for watching! 🤘 🤘
I just need to put this out there... Kim is so incredibly beautiful in all imaginable ways !!
Settle down there bub... :)
Take about 20% off there Squirrely Rich!
KIm is always just perfect!
She's the last splash 💦
Awesome! Thx for the upload
My pleasure, thanks for watching! 🤘🔥🤘
I love how he subtly told the idiots hollering that they were annoying 😂
How can you top playing Gigantic w/ Kim Deal? Proceeds to play one of the finest versions of Forget the Swan 😅 They looked so relaxed and happy that for a moment I thought they could play a Sebadoh song with Kim, maybe The Freed Pig and the circle would have been complete ⭕️ but nahh maybe that’s too much to ask for. Thanks for sharing this epic concert!❤
Yeah I haven't seen J look as relaxed and talkative as he was that night. I guess Kim just brings out the best in people! Thanks for your support! 🤘💣🦌
Maybe play some Fugazi
That opening riff is so badass
🎸🔥🤟
GIGANTIC!!!!
Thank you very much for posting this!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤘
@@sesipro I loved it!
one of the best Dino sets I’ve had the pleasure to see…. the real Deal!x
Thanks for the 🫶
Brilliant. Great job on this and thanks for sharing. Wish I was there.
Heyyy thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! 🦖🔥
Trying (in vain) to keep that pit alive during Kim's performance was one of the greatest honors of my life. Seeing her play a Pixies song on Lou's Rick was a net positive to the world.
I'm sure J, Kim & the boys appreciated your energy! Thanks for your enthusiasm Hoodie McDucksworth!!! 👍
wow and f'ing wow for the guest appearances. so good all of it!
Great sound and vision, thanks for sharing 👌🏻👍🏻✊🏼
Thank you thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! 🤘 🤘
I Saw them in 90,s the best music in my live 😍
Kim Deal and Dinosaur Jr. the best.
Just like heaven 😀
Much love for these uploads to everyone doing them! I went to the 12/3 show but it was so much fun I only got a bit of footage. This was a great idea to do a week+ worth of shows.
Very cool concept to play a week at the same venue with different guests and setlists, Brooklyn definitely got spoiled 👍
I made to the 6th ; from Canada.
Saw Dino with some Drive by Truckers…..
Amazing show....thank you!!
Happy Dino New Year and thanks for watching! 🤘🎸🔥
So good
God tarpit is a jam!!!!
Great! Legends of the 90s
💯
Damn j was letting loose this night 🤣 I've never heard him talk that much, he was even cracking jokes who is this guy
Kim and Dino need to start a band
Band name could be "Jurassic Sparks" 😎
Dealasaur Sr.!
thank you for sharing..😎🎸🔥
My pleasure, thanks for watching! 🤘🤘
Wow¡..it's been 17 years..Thx You tube!..❤❤..NEVER GONE AWAY!!!🎉🎉🎉
Ending where it all began, Forget The Swan. Cracking version too.
Haven't seen J this energetic on stage...when Kim comes out, the whole show just explodes in the best way possible
Amazing!
I made it to the December 6 show.
Glad I travelled all the way from Canada ( only an 8 hour drive).
🤘🍁🤘
Tkx sesipro.. Tkx Dino Jr.. Bringing us back
Heyyy my pleasure and thanks for the comments and views! 👍
Oh wow, J's playing the Rogue guitar sitar on The Wagon! I used to look at those things in Musician's Friend catalog back in the early 00's when I was in high school. Was big into The Beatles & Zeppelin and was intrigued by the potentially Eastern sounds that thing might create. That was well before I ever heard of Dinosaur, let alone them becoming one of my favorite bands of all time.
I wish they'd finally gotten J to play "Freed Pig".
Wow! What a great show!
The best! 🤘🔥🤘
Dam thanks so much for sharing this dinosaur hr the hold steady and the breeders are lucky my favourite bands ever Thanks so much
I'm a huge Pixies and The Breeders fan so I felt ultra lucky picking the night that Kim was the secret guest, unfortunately the same luck didn't continue on my Powerball and Megamillions tickets I bought the day after 🙃
Thanks for watching! 🤘
That sounds so FN good
Craig used to be a lot more unhinged in the LFTRPLR days. That band was a ton of fun to go see
J. Mascis is a freaking genius!
I might’ve got a little excited with one divine hammer
kim es la mejor!!!
These guys smoke on Start Choppin. They have been killin it live lately!
5.9 on the Richter Scale 👊😎💯💯💯💯💯
🫡🤙
Murph is such an underrated drummer
Thank you for the steady hand, 1million times better than the professional release of this show, strobe camera productions suck balls. This is special
Cool! Very nice of you to say that! I try my best 😎
Thanks for watching! 🤘🤘
@@sesipro I seen JR six times how did you not melt your microphone??
Heheh I guess I was just out of the meltdown radius. But tbh I didn't wear any ear plugs and I thought it was totally fine. Just some short term ringing that night only, but I was g2g the next morning without any after effects. 🤘
I really hope they come to NZ
Kim's heckles...there's a band name!
🤘😄👏👏

Give it up for Murph, who not only channeled Murph but also Jim Macpherson and Dave Lovering.
More guitar amps please!
'Where you been' originally has such a lovely drudgy time feel to most of the songs, Murph is really rushing the feel, don't dig it.
Overall tempo of the songs was probably increased to energize & hype the audience.
Also the show was pushed back an hour so with the opening band, they didn't hit the stage until just after 10pm so that may have played a role too.
Thats why J fired him the first time.
Lots of bands, including Dino, speed up their songs live. Whether intentionally or just due to the excitement of playing live, it happens frequently. I can see what you mean with the feel with some slightly slower stuff like What Else Is New, but Murph kills on On The Way, etc.
Let's also keep in mind that most of these songs haven't been played live in 2 or 3 decades, and that Murph played on all the original tracks for this album.
@@ioncewasmikey Yes, I've been to a gig before. I'm just saying what made that album so good was the vibe of the dirge, that has been lost in this performance.
Miauu miauu miauuu..just like heqven 😹

8:20-8:45 Lou Barlow uses the craziest technique. Never seen that before.
Kim and J are the Godfather and Godmother of grunge.
24 12 inch speakers LOL
🤘😎🤘🎸🎸🥁
Not sure who let the janitors on stage for "wagon" but WOW was that embarrassing. The rest of the show is great.
No song better than tarpit. J digs it
