      Right? you could build a GMMK pro for about the same price and theres lots of gasket mounted kits for around 100$. 180$ for a tray mount 60% with 3 pin hotswap is robbery.

    Nah, the mini keyboard trend is so wierd. I use numpad alot, also have the F-Keys as binds for stuff in games. Would miss them so badly.

      There are layouts that would cater to your needs that are still smaller than %100 keyboards. Like the layout that has numpad but not home row.

    I like 65% and TKL keyboards but for me 60% is just too cut down for me to use effectively. In addition I _never_ use a keyboard which needs software to use so for me this isnt really a keyboard I would use. I seem to be in a minority though as there are so many of these sorts of keyboards at the moment.

    • @tuxshake
      @tuxshake 2 года назад +1

      "I never use a keyboard which needs software" : A wise comment :) I won’t trade my ducky for this keyboard.

    • @silvershines
      @silvershines 2 года назад +1

      @@tuxshake It's crazy to me how Ducky and Varmilo fell behind in innovation and market disruption compared to the newer Keyboard brands (Akko and Keychron). They used to lead the market in pricing, build quality and features when keyboards PCBs were still for most part hand-soldered and there weren't any SMD PCBs. Imo Ducky and Varmilo is now more comparable to traditional gaming brands price-performance wise (ASUS, Razor, Corsair, etc). Good prebuilt package but for its price, not that special.
      Personally I think the Keychron V2 and upcoming V4 has completely disrupted the market. If your board isn't

    • @zaxmaxlax
      @zaxmaxlax 2 года назад +2

      I've been using a cheap 30 bucks 60% keyboard (ck61) for more than 2 years now. I bought it because it was the only model at the time with arrow keys without the need of key press combinations to use that didn't cost a fortune. Sometimes I wish to make a custom keyboard, but droping more than 200 on a peripheral doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

    • @silvershines
      @silvershines 2 года назад +1

      @@zaxmaxlax Depends on your set-up; there's some value in improving the feel of the object that you're going to be interacting/touching most of the time. I agree with you that beyond a certain price point (for me it's also $200), it hits diminishing returns and it simply isn't worth it. Imo if you're willing to mod (ie. lube, solder-in hotswap sockets or switches) onto that board, you can get the same feeling of a premium board.... But effort.
      Overall the entire space has been getting crunched from the top and below. Budget boards ($600 in the early 2010s, >$300 in the 2017s. But now? $100 gives the same feature-set, and more than ever before. Take for example, a Keychron V1 is just less than $100 MSRP pre-built and has all the functionality one can ever need. I find it frankly absurd how insanely competitive this market actually is; but then you have most brands never adjusting their MSRP or putting their own spin to things (eg. analog switches, different key-cap profiles etc) -- yet they're demanding more $$$ over the years. Like mate, your product is likely from the same factory, there's little difference.

  • @JeffWaynee
    @JeffWaynee 2 года назад +3

    Corsair really nails it with PSU's, cases and AIO's, but their keyboards leave a lot to be desired. Along with the fact that custom boards have never been easier, and they will look, sound and feel MUCH better than any pre-built.

    Hot swapable! that is a win! might be worth swapping the keycaps for Steelseries Prism ones. I got the Corsari K60 MX low profile speed keyboard for about $180NZD. Its great, fast, responsive with gaming, typing takes a while to get used to & even then not the most ideal feel to it. Can't really replace the keycaps as they are also low profile like the MX speed switches. But worth looking into if you are just gaming!

  • @jokroast6912

    Just by taking once glance at the keyboard and even the box. The answer is no. I see an outdated plastic %60 keyboard design with lowest bidder key caps, gamer fart RGB, and proprietary windows-only bloatware most likely required to access the keyboards configuration. 0/10 by any one of those metrics alone. With all of those sins stacks I'd give a -5/10 rating. Absolutely disgusting.

  • @pokepokepoke64
    @pokepokepoke64 2 года назад

    Let’s critique this keyboard.
    8000hz polling is basically useless on cherry mx switches. I think that the wooting 60he is a way better board for the price.
    The keycaps are terrible, they look bad, sound bad and from my experience just get super oily. The stabalizers are still terrible sounding. Cherry mx switches are scratchy. 3 pin north facing hot swap is terrible because that means you need to use non cherry keycaps and will have to clip the legs of almost every switch you would put in here. It sounds pingy. Corsair icue is bloat that barely works and I’d rather use via.
    It’s still a tray mount keyboard so it’s not interesting like a gasket mount or gummy o ring or anything else you can get for this price. The bakeneko’s are $130, any keychron keyboard is cheaper, the Akko stuff is awesome. This is a $50 gk61x for $180
    On a side note Akko and keychron have ergo mechanical keyboards for under $200 and in customs these are called Alice or arisu layouts. And 65% keyboards have delete and arrow keys.
    Overpriced crap

    There are better KBs out there for a better price. Royal Kludge, Keychron, Ducky, Anne Pro, etc. to name a few. The best part, you don't have to deal with the crap iCue software. Lastly, a few of them allow swapping of switches (customization) which beats the pants out of anything Corsair can come up.

    Those features you talk about in the video like ̶f̶a̶s̶t̶e̶r̶ and adjustable actuation point are just marketing stuff to fool people. Also it's not that the actuation is faster, they just have less travel. The only really interesting features that might actually be innovative are progressive switches that allow for a "joystick-like" kinda movement and the ability to press multiple times without having to reset the switch, so past the actuation point.
    Other than that, the keyboard is terrible and using the mx switches in 2022 is a fault, but not because they lack features, but because they are poorly made. There's plenty of alternatives and even cheap gateron switches are better than cherry's.
    Caps are also a major no in this keyboard, as shinethru caps are very low quality, compared to solid double shot or dyesub caps.
    The design is also meh, but that's because it's meant to attract gamers so I'll pass on that.

      I have like many other reasons for why this keyboard is E-waste windows only bloatware garbage and none of those reasons include %60. If %60 layouts arn't enough for you that is fine. Just consider that there are some people that consider %65+ too many keys. %50 %40 and even %30 keyboard users also exist.
