Hands down their best album. The Last Baron is an absolute masterpiece.
Definitely not hands down lol, it’s an amazing album but leviathan and blood mountain are pretty much perfect albums. Leviathan was even more critically acclaimed when it came out than CTS was and blood mountain received pretty much the same amount of critical acclaim as CTS. I love CTS but mastodon has too many insanely good album to say 1 of them is the hands down best, you can honestly choose any of the 3 I listed and it would be a perfectly reasonable answer.
No way guy. Id say it's a toss up between this one, Blood Mountain, and Leviathan.

They have too many great albums there is no single one that’s hands down better than their others

@@puppetmaster8551 Universally by whom? _Leviathan,_ maybe yes. _Blood Mountain,_ not that much from what I've read/heard people say. I'm on the team that says BM is an overrated album (although I quite like all Mastodon albums anyway). And I'm also on the team that says CTS is hands down the best album they've ever released, and probably one of the best albums ever released, by any artist in any genre. The best thing about them, as you mention correctly, is that they have too many great albums. Even an album I'd call overrated is pretty great on its own.
Oblivion is just such a beautiful and painful track and really sells the album as a glorious tribute to Brann's late sister, Skye. Hands down their best album.
Next check out Blood Mountain, that's an amazing album, and just keep going back, Leviathan, Remission, Call of the Mastodon.

Saw them live with Gojira and Lorna Shore on April 21st and it was such a cool show. They are one of those bands that sound even better live. Also the screen in the background had some crazy graphics that made the show even better.
I’m going in August can’t wait. I’ve seen Mastodon and Gojira separately, but too see them both in the same night?! Come on 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@rubaidaallen2764 you should have a blast man, mastodon is in top form and the setlist at least for the first leg of the tour was absolutely killer. Mastodon and gojira back to back is about as good as it can get especially because they’re both in top form putting in amazing shows

Oblivion has always been one of my favorite tracks from them, especially with the music video, makes it have an eerie vibe.
Mastodon Fuckin rules, best discography in metal since 02. Nice reaction man, highly recommend checking out leviathan next, absolute masterpiece of a record.

It’s a masterpiece album by saying it’s by far their best is absurd, when they have multiple other masterpiece records. Leviathan received even more critical acclaim than CTS and BM about the same amount as CTS, even remission was extremely critically acclaimed. Love CTS and it’s definitely a masterpiece record but BM and leviathan especially are way way too good of albums to say CTS is BY FAR their best. Saying leviathan is their best record or blood mountain is their best is a totally reasonable statement, all 3 of those records are pretty much perfect. They don’t have 1 single record that is by far better than some of their other records.

Also I think leviathan absolutely needs to be in the convo for best album, that album is amazing and pretty much received universal acclaim across the board

Brann dailor is just hands down a got damn beast at the drums ! One of the best ! Guy sing the same time , insane!!!

D-lighted to 'ave a deserved roar of the Mastodon on here like this! Like most albums unloading an Odyssey of music at ya like this via the album's progressive tones, deep layers and riches come undone and loose upon more listens. Very good album. I really like what they did in the aftermath of this album. Nxt 2 albums, "The Hunter" and "Once more round the SUn" intentionally took on shorter songs, but were stuffed to the hairy gills of revved up melodies and brilliant signatures that became just as celebrated as Skye itself. Last album, "Hushed and Grim" was a class double album with awesome gnarly riffs, yet more tangents to travel on, and that quirky Southern twanged psychedelic groove and cosmos that they do so well.
The only time I tripped acid my buddy and I stared at one piece of motion artwork for the duration of the album.
Haha. The first time I listened to this album on LSD, me and a friend were in my basement staring at one of the surround sound speakers. During the track Crack the Skye, I was losing my mind to Brann's drumming and then "I can see the pain, it's written all over your face, I can see the pain, you can make it all go away" brought me to tears.
You should check out their record Leviathan, also a masterpiece and was actually received slightly better critically than even CTS at its release. It’s also the album that really blew them up. Blood mountain is a masterpiece record too but it’s a little more out there than leviathan or CTS so I definitely recommend those before blood mountain.
Lol right before czar you were ready to be disappointed after oblivion, but I smiled knowing the song was next. Imo czar best song on album with oblivion and last baron tied for second. And crack the skye third.
Both singers are amazing. Fantastic band and album. You should react to their latest.

3 vocalist, Troy the bassist has sung in the most songs throughout their history, Brent the lead guitarist the 2nd most and Brann the drummer who started singing on CTS and has sung more than brent the last few albums. Their most recent record hushed and grim was mainly Brann and Troy on vocals, Brent only sang on 2 songs. But like I said it was only Troy and Brent on their first 3 albums and then Brann did a little vocals on CTS and then started singing a lot of leads from the hunter onwards.

Czar is pronounced just zar btw, last baron is the best track on the album. Just like all prog songs get better with each listen
it's pronounced more like tsar in slavic languages, ts like in "beats", and an (rolling i think you call it) r like in spanish
@dzemperator yeah well it is an Eastern European word but in English don't pronounce the C I learnt in history it was said like Zar king and queen
