But not anymore tho. They are not the most famous group, but they are well known in the K-Pop Community. Many have atleast heard of them. Compared to like 2019 and earlier, they are huge
@@DCInSomnia Well, still not big enough. When they get equal to BP, they will not be under-rated. The members of DC are just as talented as the members of BP. And these ladies are very humble, nice people (even with Gahyeon's temper, she is still nice). Nice people like the ladies in this group fully deserve to be just as HUGE, successful and world-renowned as BP is.

So from my perspective, the group will always be considered under-rated because they will always deserve more positivity, fame, fortune and good treatment than they have had. They totally deserve to be world-renowned but since that just will not happen (the world of humans being like it is), they will eternally be under-rated.
I knew when i saw the stream of MCountdown that it would get the girls some new attention, thank you so much for checking them out, they deserve the love. Also, they technically debuted before 2017.... but they only got their first win last year

Almost all Dreamcatcher title tracks are part of continuing story arcs so you will get more out of them if you watch in the order they were released. Debut song is Chase Me, followed by Good Night, Fly High, You and I, What, Piri, and Breaking Out. Those seven songs make up the Nightmare story arc. Scream, Boca, and Odd Eye form the Dystopia trilogy. Maison, Vision, and Bon Voyage are the Apocalypse trilogy. Deja Vu and BEcause are standalone title tracks although they contain themes that are very familiar to InSomnia (fan name). Those are just the title tracks. There is much much more.
Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
"Bon Voyage" is the 3rd and final part of the Apocalypse trilogy, which is about the destruction of the environment by humanity. The members have mentioned that it is about giving nature a break. Any encounter between human beings always has separation attached to it as well, just as death is a part of life. SuA also said that the fluffy floating thing that Dami summons from her painting is a cell, representing nature. It has been named "Celly" and is adorable, right?
My dark mind believes that they are saying "Have a good trip" to humanity, since we are well on our way of wiping ourselves out. It's like a breakup between humanity and the earth. Once humanity is gone, nature gets the break it needs and the circle will begin again. For me, the key to understanding the lyrics is that they are singing as human beings, not as a single person. And they are singing to nature, confessing their love and the realization that we are not good for nature and that it probably resents us. It could also be the other way round (them singing as mother nature to humanity).
SuA jumping out after the dove seem to represent their desire for peace.
The story of the MV seems to be that the rest of humanity has sheltered away under force fields after the apocalypse. This gives nature time to heal.
Musically I can already say this is one of their best songs for me. The chorus slaps hard, and the variations between heavy and slow are just beautiful. It has emotion and impact at the same time. Putting JiU's sweet voice together with an acoustic guitar is simply genius.
Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?
Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy,. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.
First time I'm hearing BONVOYAGE specifically but I've been listening to them for over a month amd i can say Insomnias are among one of the best fandoms.
THEY'RE so welcoming and the members themselves are...no words needed. All 7 are so humble and sweet.

I am fan of both Dreamcatcher and Ateez. I found Dreamcatcher first and was drawn in by their music and lore, but seeing that they shared production and composer teams with Ateez decided to explore them. So it makes perfect sense to me that you watched and MCountdown Paris for Ateez and discovered Dreamcatcher!

Greetings Chloe, welcome to the dreamworld. As you may have already noticed, we InSomnia are an enthusiastic bunch, always happy to welcome new reactors and more then willing to -drag- help them into the Dreamcatcher rabbit hole.
Glad you already noticed their incredible vocals, visuals and powerful choreography.
When you start do delve deeper into Dreamcatcher (and I deliberately say 'when', not 'if') you will surely also notice their versatility. While all their title-tracks incorporate the rock sound that has become their signature sound, their b-sides are just as good (because Talent!) but cover many different genres from beautiful ballads, reggae, jazz, soul and EDM, to straight up metal. And yes, they absolutely shine with a live band.
Another reason why their fanbase is as dedicated as is it, are the members personalities. In an industry that can rely heavily on popularity trends and image, Dreamcatcher have always been unapologetically their authentic selves with the support of their company. And their authentic selves are hilarious. Absolute professionals on stage, absolute agents of chaos off stage, which has made them much loved guests at variety shows.
In short: Dreamcatcher, you come for the music, you stay for the members.

Each Dreamcatcher release is part of a collection. The first part of every collection is always a full album, and the following parts are Mini-albums.
You have the Nightmares collection (this lasted from Jan 2017- Late 2019)
The first album of this collection was their debut 'Nightmare' (the title track of this album is 'Chase Me')
The final Korean album of this collection was 'The End of Nightmare' (The title track being 'PIRI')
However the actual finishing album of this collection was the Japanese album 'The Beginning of The End' (The main track being 'Breaking Out')
Then you have the Dystopia collection, which is a trilogy, which is focus on issues like cyber bullying.
Dystopia goes in this order:
1) Dystopia: The Tree Of Language (The main track being 'Scream')
This is a full album.
2) Dystopia: Lose Yourself (The main track being BOCA)
3) Dystopia: Road to Utopia (the main track is 'Odd Eye')
During the first two albums of Dystopia one of the members (Handong) couldn't be included as she was stuck in China due to COVID, after going on a variety show.
Then the most recent collection is the 'Apocalypse' collection which ended in May this year, this trilogy focuses on issues like Climate Change.
Apocalypse goes in this order:
1) Apocalypse: Save Us (the main track being 'MAISON')
This is a full album
2) Apocalypse: Follow Us (the main track being 'VISION'
3) Apocalypse: From Us (the title track being 'BON VOYAGE'
I saw how shocked you were at the 'To Be Continued' part of Scream, so I thought I'd explain in the simplest way possible, because I could write an entire essay on Dreamcatcher.
The Nightmare Lore is very confusing and there's a lot more parts to it than the Dystopia Lore and Apocalypse Lore, so I didn't want to go into detail about it.
If you want to know the Nightmare lore it's probably best to watch a video that fully explains what goes on, because the nightmare lore is built off quite a few Mini-albums, so there's many parts to the story.
But there are a couple releases that aren't part of any collection. These are special releases.
There is a couple releases that were made through collaborations, and example is 'Deja Vu' however there are also others, that is just one of the most iconic ones (in my opinion).
'Summer Holiday' was an album released in 2021, this was a Summer Special (the title track of this album was 'BEcause')
And the single 'REASON' was especially made for their 6 year anniversary, which was released in January this year, the time of their debut.
Also a random bit of extra context is that each member represents a different phobia in the Nightmare collection, for example JiU represents the fear of being chased.

As a bass player I think you’d *really* appreciate the arrangements on their Japanese tracks! They lean more towards metal and have correspondingly increased attention to instruments, which I personally adore.

Welcome to the Dream community, pun intended. They are an absolute phenomenon and this is coming from someone who follows many Kpop groups. Their community is also very wholesome and very coordinated. Lots to gain for being a fan 💯
Dreamcatcher is the group that got me fully into K-pop. They hold a very special place in my heart. When I had first started trying to listen to K-pop, I of course started with the most popular groups because that was what was recommended to me. I listened to some BTS & Black Pink, but little of what they made actually clicked with me. I liked some songs, but if I only like 1 or 2 songs on an album, then it's not for me. I continued looking. And then I found Dreamcatcher. They ticked all the right things in my head for me to like them. So I dove into them. I found everything I could. I watched things that had no subtitles, so that I could understand them more. (I have a lot of free time. I could afford to spend 6 or more hours just wandering around RUclips.)
In the many things I watched, I came across a mash-up of Dreamcatcher & Stray Kids. I loved both the sounds that had been mashed together & went looking into SKZ as well. I liked what I heard & again dove into them. And in the discovering of SKZ I found Ateez as well. Again, down a rabbit hole I dove. I have wandered out from these groups & found more to add to my ever expanding love of K-pop. (Mamamoo, Kard, and P1Harmony to name the other three that make up my top 6 groups) But I always come back to these three as the core. I think it's because of the messages, the values, and the people who make up these wonderful groups that keep me solidly behind them. There are many who are more well known, and many who are just as unique. But I cannot say that those others keep me drawn to them as long.
So. In conclusion? Listen to Dreamcatcher. You will never regret it. They have so much to say, and the message is loud & clear to those willing to listen.
For us Somnia really glad and happy to see people started to get to know these girls eventho they do like or not. Just knowing that Dreamcatcher existed is enough for us. Thank you :) Hope you enjoy the songs and FYI these girls are crackheads and adorable in real life XD.

I'd suggest either checking their debut to see their nice evolution both in sound & production or checking the other songs that are part of the two trilogies you watched in this video. Bon Voyage is part of the Apocalypse trilogy (Maison > Vision > Bon Voyage), BOCA & Scream are part of the Dystopia trilogy (Scream > BOCA > Odd Eye, hence the 'To be continued' at the end of Scream haha)

Dreamcatcher is well known now but what isn't well known is how many 4th gen idols look up to them and see them as not only a musical & performance influence but also as just really kind and approachable unnies. During their performance at MCD ZB1's Hanbin was dancing along with them! 🥰

It always makes me happy when I see someone discovering Dreamcatcher for the first time. They really deserve so much recognition! You are really in for a treat if you haven't listened to their whole discography already! They have so many good songs, and they release songs in a lot of different genres too that's different from their main tracks.

Yes. More people need to appreciate Dreamcatcher. Literally, the song Maison which was the comeback before last was the first win where they won an award; literally 4 almost 5 years after debut

InsomiAtiny here - unsurprising that you like their music, since they share the production team! (I might also have a theory that Dystopia and Fever take place in thr same universe...) And just like Ateez, their MVs do tell a story, so its usually recommended that you watch in order (and theres so many little details that even after years, I'm still finding things I've missed) unless youre just in it for the music.
If you think Jiu has you wound around her finger, just wait. (There's more than a few of us who are ot7 bias, which is great because you love every photocard... but you also get wrecked 7 different ways) They also have a *very* robust idol friends list (mostly other girl groups) which means there's not really fanwars and those that do try and start something are usually shut down very quickly. It also means that you too will probably wind up liking many other groups. (People have discovered Kard from when DC and Kard did a MuBank interview together and unsurprisingly, they're friends with Jiwoo and Somin - Kard is a coed group btw) Friendcatcher is very much a thing.
Recs: well it depends. Title tracks always have an element of rock in them, so go with titles for the rock sound. B-sides are spin the genre wheel and see what it lands on. Several B-sides are also available as special clips on DC's channel along with covers the girls have done. (And they don't change the pronouns.) For variety, finish off Dystopia with Odd Eye, and might as well hit the other two in Apocalypse - Maison and Vision. Deja Vu is usually a good one if you liked Bonvoyage, too. (Deja Vu is a standalone story so no worries about missing something) But trust me. If you want to get into the Nightmare series. *Watch in order.* (And Chase Me/Good Night have the additional game of "spot the horror movie references")
Oh yeah and just like Ateez, you gotta watch their relay dances 7 different times so you can catch whats going on. Cause the girls are absolutely bonkers with them.

yesss i love watching people get into dreamcatcher bc they always have parts in songs that leave you speechless !! for part 2 i recommend diving into their earlier songs like "chase me," "good night," and "you & i." some insomnias don't like "what" but personally that song got me to stan dreamcatcher so idk what they're talking about another one to watch as well
This is great. They are great young ladies and are very talented.
Their Dystopia Trilogy is Scream, Boca, and Odd Eye.
The Apocalypse Trilogy is Maison, Vision and Bonvoyage.
So, if you do 3 songs a Video, your next should be Odd Eye, Maison and Vision to complete both trilogies.
After that, you're already hooked, so you might as well try some of their B-sides. For you, I'd recommend And There Was No One Left (Special Clip), Red Sun (Special Clip) and Propose (Comeback Showcase).

Dreamcatcher is the only group that I have a hard time finding a bias right away and still is today as they are all 7 bias material. They are also the only group that I like all of their songs including all b-sides. In fact my top 3 favorites are from their b-sides. Their vocals are insane and they are also the only group I know that members often switch their vocal lines & sing in turn by another member. Only a very strong vocal group can do that. And in Reason, they even switch rap line! You should do more than just part 2 but a series.... I would suggest you start with all their title tracks following the order since debut to keep yourself updated. Then go through each album on their b-sides with "special clips," a term mostly means their MV version of their b-sides. Then you should check out their actual live vocal, it's even better than their recording!

For a part two, here’s the three I would recommend to you: Demian (a b-side from their latest album with an amazing special clip choreographed by the main dancer, Sua), Reason (their third fan song to Insomnia, which would have been the other song you heard them do at MCountdown), and Deja Vu.
After that, you might want to start following the storylines.

Starting at the beginning with DC is always the best way to go with a deep dive, if you feel the need to do one.
The good thing about these videos is they were Dystopia and Apocalypse videos, which don't really have a story arc, though they are trilogies so there are shared themes between the videos. But watching the Nightmare series out of order will make your brain hurt, so it worked out lol
As for 'To Be Continued', you already watched the second part; 'Scream' came right before 'Boca'. Now you just need to see 'Odd Eye' to complete the Dystopia Trilogy.
I always suggest starting from the debut of every group because then you get to see their progression (and maybe freak out a little bit about how they looked like CUTE BABIES from the beginning and have grown into GORGEOUS women over time).

During BoCa and Scream, they were missing Handong, who was in China at the time. She comes back for Odd Eye which is the third in the trilogy for Scream > BoCa > Odd Eye.

- Bon Voyage is the last part of their most recent Apocalypse series, so checking out Maison and Vision would finish that up for you. Maison is still my favorite title track from them to date personally.
- Scream and Boca are the first two parts of their Dystopia series, and Odd Eye would complete it. Odd Eye was my favorite title track from them before Maison really grew on me.
