  • Had 2 of my 8 coil-packs fail on my way home from work the other day. My 02 Sequoia has 205,000mi with the original coil-packs. I suspect they failed because the Radiator has a hairline crack, spraying fluid everywhere. The fluid either got into the connectors or the #1 and #2 pistons got too hot and cooked the packs. When I swapped #2 and #4, the #2 error went away but when I swapped #1 and #3, the problem followed the #1 coil pack to cylinder 3. I opted to change all of them ($110) on amazon, why not?
Sorry about the wind noise. I don't have a wind screen and I don't usually record outside. I did my best to equalize it out, but it's there. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and if you need to do your coil-packs, you find this helpful.

Im pretty sure that's the valves. Check your oil(low oil can make noisy valves). I did have my timing belt replaced shortly after that (Jan of this year, 207,000mi). It's been quieter since. I'm not saying that's your noise(I'm a shade tree mechanic at best) but those can lead to noisy valves.
I'm debating doing my power steering rack. It was leaking badly. Then it stopped...now I'm waiting for it to just explode.

It's only been about 15Kmi~ and a little over a year but no issues at all. Pretty happy with this truck at 212Kmi.

@@FixitFrank I keep burning coils up, ive been replacing 1 at a time and was looking into aftermarket coils. I have a 2000 with 399,937 lol and daily it. So close to 400k

how is the rad? That was my root cause. when it would get hot the rad would basically spray everywhere and would let the front cylinders get too hot. I suspect the antifreeze getting on the coils packs didn't help.
You give me lots of hope. I just had the steering rack replaced as well as the bushings/ball joints. The timing belt was done back in Jan and the trans only has 60-80Kmi on it. I also replaced all the brake calipers and rotors(lines too). I'm hoping to keep it going as long as I can so you now have given me a goal!

I replaced the rad cap due to leaking pressure but I havent replaced the rad. Ive also replaced the ps rack, rear wheel seals and bearings, front wheel bearings, upper/lower ball joints and that's about it. I suggest keeping up on all fluids, trans and the diffs/transfer case fluid. The timing belt and water pump have been replaced but its time again. You would never know it has 400k on it from driving or looking at it

What is that head unit you have in there?

Its a fun one! Eonon android 8 head unit. Full android with a 4g wifi dongle. However I plan on upgrading it to a "joying" 10" single din ISO option. Check out Joying radios. They are cool. I put one in a week ago for a buddy in his chevy truck and its DSP sounds great through his JL amp and speaker setup.

hi... how to fooling dlp lamp to led lamp...tnx

can't be done reasonably. It requires replacing the ballast with a driver, making a proper reflector and finding an LED with the right CRI. I went down this path some years ago and it was no where near cost effective with how cheap Lamps and projectors are.
