Changed ignition coil and didn't know which cylinder was 3, took a guess and was right now that I see this video, but problem continued lol so guess wasn't ignition coil great video
There's another way for cyclinder placement is from the driver's side. The exsample is this when facing the engine from the front the leftside would be on your fight and visa versa ......
i have a ford duratec v6. i had a misfire in cylinder 2. the mechanic put the new coil in my cylinder 4, which would be cylinder 2 if it were a GM motor.
what about a 2017 Hyundai with 4 cylinders. The rows are going horizontal instead of vertical so I'm not sure if you count left to right or right to left?
Wow, Ford really be likethat? Lol. I was just about to change my spark after the code said a misfiring in cylinder 7, so I figured I should probably know where that is 😂 I used to think I bought this hooptie for a good deal. Now after hearing all the horror stories on how hard it is to work on this thing I think I know why it was so cheap
Number 1 is not always in front....i repete not always in front..if you time a 4 cyl. Geo tracker , like number 1is up front it will not start but if you time it as number4 is then it will start...
You sir had your distributor 180* out. It's very easy to do that and the tracker is an engine that if 180 out you can basically pretend the cylinder numbering is backwards and it works. I'm one of the few people in the world that has actually rebuilt a tracker 1.6 engine. The farthest forward cylinder is number 1. The bores were so small we had to get my friends daughter to wash the cylinder walls.
@@macsgarage LoL..... I believe you that you have done one ....lol..just one.. If you will look here on RUclips there is a guy who will explain it to you..... LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THEY KNOW until they run into these engines, I've seen 3 And thats all I have to say...
They don't. You can call a dog's tail be a leg, but it doesn't make it one. Likewise, Ford can be name their cylinders Do-Ray-Me or 1,2,3, but that doesn't mean they fire in that order. 💡 Just keeping it simple.
The International/Navistar (6.9, 7.3, 6.0, 6.4) built engines installed in ford pickups are not numbered by ford and are different. The 6.7 is ford and is numbered like the video.
My friend!! How 'come you say that Ford screws every buddy up ? You forget that Ford is "Pioneer" of auto industry. The others are followers. So Ford has been imitated all the time. Ford is not going to change a good way of logical thinking and become a follower instead of keeping leading!!
Ford is the only American V8 that is numbered that way(pretty sure anyway). So In a Numbers game against GM, Chrysler, AMC, Ect someone that works on a variety will be thrown off by Ford. As for Ford being a pioneer of the auto industry. I would argue the largest single impact Ford has had on the auto industry has been assembly process itself more so than engineering or vehicle design. That's not to say Ford hasn't been innovative in engineering or design however all the companies were as well.
@donnellray119 you can always Google the numbering for your application as there are always exceptions. There are also a few countries around the world that drive on the other side of the road. So it's all subjective in a way. The information in the video is correct however there are likely exceptions.
"On a MULTI-CYLINDER engine". Ummmm... why the hell you feel the need to specify this? You ever worked with an engine that had a SINGLE CYLINDER??? Literally every engine is a MULTI-cylinder engine.
Wow now that's just wanting to comment some shit. Totally irrelevant. It didn't affect anybodys view of the video or confuse them. What a dick to point that out wtf 😂

Awesome video. I was looking for the best/easiest way to explain this to my Son and this is perfect. Thank you.
Props to showing to your son
Finally a video that is clear, straight to the point, and easy to understand.
need to know on dodge 6 cylinder
Very helpful, thank you very much, clearly explained.
Well done with explanations why. As an engineer of small engines, air cooled, I appreciate your references. 👍
Great Video. Thank you.
Very well explained, great tutorial 👍
I have been retired for a number of years, but if I remember correctly Japan numbers there cylinders ( inline engines) rear ( flywheel ) to front.
This was really helpful thanks man
Very helpful, thank you so much.

What the firing sequence?
Please, what is the order of the pistons for a Ran 2014 1500 ecodiesel
Thank u
So on a Ford eco-boost, 3.5 L 2011 12 and three are on passenger side with three being closest to the firewall?
Yes
Apreciated.
what about a 2017 Hyundai with 4 cylinders. The rows are going horizontal instead of vertical so I'm not sure if you count left to right or right to left?
You’d count from the harmonic balancer (front) to the transmission (back)
Thanks
Ha! I saw what you did at 2:08. Perhaps the top 2 "cylinders" on the right looked just a BIT too much like the pope's hat, perhaps??? lol

Where is the cylinder 2 for 2015 toyota avalon please
So where is bank 1 and bank 2 when both cylinders 1 and 2 are on the same side???

About tundra v6.?
How can the ford fire them in order, I’ll never buy a ford.

Way too much Yaba Yaba bro. Just make the drawings and point out cylinder #1
No , Ford put cylinder no. 1 on the drivers side
If you drive on the wrong side.
