    Pebber Brown (Buckethead's first guitar teacher) actually drove Big B to a lesson or two with Paul, as well. Anyone familiar with Pebber Brown will tell you that Pebber is a VERY thorough teacher (learned from Pat Martino, Russ Tuttle, Allan Holdsworth, Dick Grove, etc.), and Pebber will tell you that Buckethead was extremely DISCIPLINED and definitely came to class prepared. His chops are absolutely PHENOMENAL. It's great to see Paul and Jason share some of their experiences with Big B.!

    Buckethead is the best thing that could have happened to music. I think it's a real shame that I didn't discover him sooner, and it's also a shame that his music isn't popular enough, it would help many more people to consume his music. He replaced every other musician for me, he is my hero and i love him so much, one of my biggest dream is to go to a buckethead concert, and i would love to shake his hand, to hug him and saying thank you a lot.

    Buckethead is one of these dudes that might possibly be appreciated more when he’s gone…like a Henry Darger or HP Lovecraft type pop culture personality. The general public, at large, has just never been “ready” for what he does…even dating back 30 years. I have to admit that I reside in that category, myself. I’m a guitarist so I’ve always appreciated his undeniable ability and when I DO listen to his stuff, it’s incredibly thoughtful and artfully executed. But he’s just so prolific and so antiestablishment…some artists need to be absent for the culture to finally step back and fully examine their work. Beyond that, they need an influential champion who says “dude, look at this insane accomplishment that *nobody* seems to know about”. Buckethead has always resided in that category, in my mind…like a living HP Lovecraft whose work has yet to be uncovered by western civilization.

    • @NatterNet

      I think it's more that people just don't ask him about it, as if he'd be insulted by someone asking him about another guitar player, but the cool guys like Paul clearly don't mind...I mean, if someone were to ask Yngwie about Buckethead then who know's how Yngwie would be haha

      NatterNet
      They’ve been around for well over 3 decades and what have they done in 30 years? Put decent albums then Load came and it started to go down and then today they have Rob Trujillo(which on his own, literally blows them all out of the water doing dolphin flips in the process) which is kinda cool and a bummer because dude could probably kill it in a death/prog setting
      Hell i even think he’d fucking make some amazing latin fusion metal with flamenco chops here and there
      James Hetfield is a solid downpicker and he still has some new solid riffs and shit but at this point they’re just beating a dead horse altogether
      I feel like if they’d get rid of Lars and Kirk, replace them with dudes who aren’t going to musically deteriorate and develop some kind of musical amnesia
      Kirk has always been a one trick pony show with his pentatonic wanking and the only time Lars was doing “ok” was back in his long hair days when he was constantly coked up and shit and even then he wasn’t really on par with other popular metal bands from back then

    • @NatterNet
      @NatterNet  5 лет назад +1

      @@The_Kevinist Man I feel like all that you just wrote could've been written by me. Totally agree. Rob is a star, James is James-can't really knock the guy, Lars-easy target and then Kirk, I used to be a huge Kirk fan but to watch him play now is hard, I know everyone says it but its just 'wah wah wah' thats all I hear. Even when he plays all the old classics 'wah wah wah'.

    • @The_Kevinist
      @The_Kevinist 5 лет назад +1

      NatterNet
      Yeah, i mean i used to fucking watch the S&M DVD all the time when i was a kid, used to love seeing Kirk shred and shit
      Many years later, see some video of him struggling to play some basic rhythmic patterns and thinking “what the fuck?”
      If you look at dudes like Al di Meola, John McLaughlin, Andy McKee, Steve Vai, Vinnie Moore, etc... they’ve been playing as long if not more/less than Kirk Wahmet, yet you look when they were younger and today.. you can clearly see the progression
      Whereas with Kirk.. it’s quite the opposite, he went from his peak spiraling downwards and the only thing going for him is doing a bunch of wild crazy sounds with a fucking wah pedal
      Look at Lars too.. it’s as if they never really took it seriously

    • @NatterNet
      @NatterNet  5 лет назад +1

      @@The_Kevinist Yeah, man. I guess money talks. They got tons of it, always sell arenas so don't feel the need to progress in any way. I watched a video the other day of Kirk playing 'When Doves Cry' by Prince, it was brutal!!
