You should check gnrs website. There are a bunch of cool stories and just general tales of his time with GnR, told by brain and others. Like the hand puppet talking and how Axl was totally into conversing with the puppet. And the story about the chicken coop/dog poop in a 50k a week studio...
The event he's referring to was at Damien Highschool a couple years before I was a freshman there. Coach Carroll (as we knew him then) is Buckethead's dad. I chatted with him one day while waiting for my ride home at the bus stop. He mentioned his son Brian played for Guns and Roses. He was a cool guy. Small world.
If Buckethead called me and left a 15 minute guitar solo on my answering machine I'd record that shit, put the physical copy in a shadowbox, and give it to a museum.
Buckethead is in a league of his own as a pure musical guitar player. His solo stuff has more depth and tone and touch than anything Satch or Vai has put out. Hes such a great instinctive player that doesnt overplay or masturbate musically like many and most great players do. His instrumental stuff could go on forever without limits. But like true greats, he knows the secret of restraint.
I was working security at the Showbox in Seattle maybe in 2017. I had microdosed because Buckethead was playing, but it was already turning out a little macro when I went into the green room to check that all the basics were there for the artist-and there was Buckethead, with his mask off, running through scales. I felt like I'd walked in on him in the bathroom! But he saw my bob Dobbs patch and pointed to it and smiled. Totally has the vibe of a gandalf type benevolent wizard. And looks a little like carrot top, only if life had been kinder to him lol. I couldn't talk very well on the radio that night but what a shiw
I've seen Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Megadeath, Sabaton, Iced Earth, Malmsteen and more. Alice Cooper was the best concert. That is simply the funnest show I ever went to.
Saw him during a Primus show in DC years ago. Les randomly says Buckethead, Buckethead. Proceeds to rip for 15 minutes or so. Disappears into the ether. Great show, thank you boys.
Bucket head makes frank Zappa look and sound normal bucket head is a freaking of nature his technique his accuracy is flawless there is nothing he can't play he goes from chicken picken bluegrass and country to the heaviest metal riff you ever heard blinding fast shredder with the 8 finger tapping to slow emotional souful haunting sounds and does all that in one song and make things that don't normally sound good sound good and does it so fluidly make it look easy Buckethead not my favorite but still think he is the underrated guitar player ever never heard anyone sound like bucket or close to emulating his sound and style just amazing guy, i think people get turned off because there grown man with a bucket on his head white mask with yellow rain jacket and pants on and only talks with a weird ugly puppet so no one takes him serious until you hear play and you see what all the hypes about him you can't forget about doing the robot dance while playing does he have stage fright or something like that get up makes him feel more at ease maybe
I'm a Buckethead fan, I have about 30 albums that he plays on. I've gone to at least 20 of his shows. Most of em' were amazing, but FZ dwarfs Buckethead as a composer. He worked from a much larger knowledge base and was musically much more imaginative. Buckethead is a great player but he's nowhere near as sonically unique as Allan Holdsworth, Terje Rypdal, David Torn or David Fiuczynski.
was first exposed to Buckethead through Praxis. friend had a single CD of the group. It was unlike anything i had heard up to then and can only describe it as experimental funkhop metal.
All I know is I was ready to quit guitar, Then Buckethead showed up and everything has been great again. I fear that If I don't, Lord Phobos would find it unacceptable if I were to skip the Buckethead lessons. Tom Scholz of Boston might start to believe that I need to be tiny in Japan if I were to skip the Buckethead lessons. I know David Copperfield will never stop until I'm his Shalomie. He knows what I'm up to.
It's crazy how much buckethead is slept on. He kind of has his own genre and it's like other people can't reach him on the same level. Very cool of Serge and co. to trust the artistic process.

If Buckethead called me and left a 15 minute guitar solo on my answering machine I'd record that shit, put the physical copy in a shadowbox, and give it to a museum.
One of my favourite albums.
such an incredibly unengaging reading voice for such an awesome singer hehe
Buckethead is in a league of his own as a pure musical guitar player.
His solo stuff has more depth and tone and touch than anything Satch or Vai has put out.
Hes such a great instinctive player that doesnt overplay or masturbate musically like many and most great players do.
His instrumental stuff could go on forever without limits. But like true greats, he knows the secret of restraint.
Ahh, i love to hear that Serj and Buckethead are/were friends! Woo!
Is Serj Tankian normally this well spoken or is he reading something he had wrote? Either way he articulates himself well.
It definitely sounded odd, almost AI-like, but Serj is pretty well spoken from what I’ve heard in other interviews with him.
Once in a lifetime gig for the school kids.
I am a huge Serj and S.O.A.D. fan, but never mentioning Fair To Midland and what happened to them just never gets mentioned.
Just saw Buckethead 2 days ago, it was incredible
Cool story,, thank you
Wait there's a Saul Williams and Buckethead collab? I gotta hear this
I've seen Buckethead twice live here in Colorado with my 2 sons. We are all guitarists and very much enjoy his mastery.
Does anyone know where the chicken amusement park is? I need to see this.
was first exposed to Buckethead through Praxis. friend had a single CD of the group. It was unlike anything i had heard up to then and can only describe it as experimental funkhop metal.
Hey I work at a chicken plant foster Farms by the way and I love great guitar player's he is the greatest
He knows what I'm up to.
for this video you deserved our sub... :).... \o/
Great thank you!
Is that Butthouse on bass at the high school gig?
It's crazy how much Serj looks like Frank Zappa, and speaking of Zappa, he'd have loved Buckethead.
It's crazy how much buckethead is slept on. He kind of has his own genre and it's like other people can't reach him on the same level. Very cool of Serge and co. to trust the artistic process.
///+..+\\\ Awesomeness, Thanks for the share NatterNet🤘🏽🐓🤖
I want to see what an amusement park for chickens would look like
Hemingway talked too. It also wasn’t in this video.
