That pistol that locks on to 3 enemies and the fires off shots in rapid succession was done in the original Titanfall, _way_ before *TURBO OVERKILL.* Although, considering my encyclopedic knowledge of FPS's is mainly rooted in "Console Peasant FPS/TPS" - and I only know about PC games through RUclips (channels like this), and rare occasions when I'd get to use someone's PC - I can't say for sure that Titanfall had the *"ORIGINAL"* Smart Pistol, as it's known in that game. I'm just waiting for X|S / PS5 ports of TURBO OVERKILL, SELACO, and a bunch of the other incredible "Boomer Shooter Revival" games that've been hitting PC lately.
I played it on POSTAL difficulty and I did not have the same issues you had, especially ammo. There's Krotchy Vending machines that fills your ammo as well as the ammo box consumable that gives you ammo. The only issue I had that equaled yours was Laser enemies since they had smaller hitboxes and dealt so much damage your armor would fall apart instantly. Also, there is an auto-jump, so holding crouch and jump zooms you around with no effort.
3:41 “Praise the Lord and pass the grenades!” is a reference to a 40’s song called “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition” which was based on a story of a Navy Chaplain during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
the second I learned you could strafe jump in this game was when I started really getting into it. You can do so much insane shit with it, combine the grapple hook and the slide and it becomes one of my favorite movement systems of all time.

Calling Postal 4 "the third entry in the series" is both amazing (ignoring P3) and technically wrong (because Paradise Lost IS Postal 3 even if it is just a DLC).
The lock-on for the pistol is likely a reference to the Titanfall series' Smart Pistol, not Turbo Overkill, mainly due to the techy bits and constant references to the pistol being smart
The criticism about Suburbia just being a bunch of copy-pasted houses sounds about right. Suburban houses in the U.S. can get so very samey you can end up with entire neighbourhoods with only a handful of floor plans. And that's by design.
God damn that'd actually be dope. Borderlands 3 is an incredibly fun game with an incredibly meh story for me, taking that away and going for all out unabashed shitpost like Postal would actually be pretty awesome

Its all in his mind?
It really is a Psychonauts FPS.
the second I learned you could strafe jump in this game was when I started really getting into it. You can do so much insane shit with it, combine the grapple hook and the slide and it becomes one of my favorite movement systems of all time.
We need someone to make a gman video where it's just him saying things out of context at this point
Out of the day of completely renovating our little garden house, your video was literally everything I needed
Looks...Amazing??!! definitely giving this a shot.
I mean the game was in development for 2 or so years. Kinda explains the outdated jokes. I still liked them, made me chuckle
Thanks to Gmanlives. I can say proudly that I played games that are actually fun and enjoyable. And at the end of the day makes my day a whole lot better. Instead of playing games that on only streaming on twitch, tiktok or what ever the trend is.
And the fact that he's a metal gear solid fan is just the cherry on top.
Thank you for recommending actual good games.
I like how the holy grenades blow up like angels from evangalion
The Penetrator, an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.....
Sounds like the same weapon from Saints Row 4...
the sirenhead being a 5G antenna Is pretty clever.
Holy shit this was a pleasant surprise love your videos man you’re the best person on the site
expecting a consistant postal game is like expecting goumet food in a 7th grade cooking class. this one was one you
Basically 2020: The Game.
The criticism about Suburbia just being a bunch of copy-pasted houses sounds about right. Suburban houses in the U.S. can get so very samey you can end up with entire neighbourhoods with only a handful of floor plans. And that's by design.
Fun fact : you can parry with the shovel 🙂
"south Park shooter that came out a few years ago"
My dude, that game is close to 20 years old. I know, I feel it too.
This makes me feel like Postal would work really well in the Borderlands 3 engine
God damn that'd actually be dope. Borderlands 3 is an incredibly fun game with an incredibly meh story for me, taking that away and going for all out unabashed shitpost like Postal would actually be pretty awesome
Uh regular Unreal Engine? lol That's completely possible if they wanted to, it's the way Borderlands implemented the artstyle which makes it look unique
@@steve7745 I hated the villains so much in borderlands 3, their dialogue gave me a headache after awhile it really felt like they’d never shut up. Definitely a big downgrade from the borderlands 2 villain. Despit that though I did enjoy the game overall borderlands is always hella fun. That new spinoff wonderlands was great as well
11:05
It's the BFG
Who would've thought one of the best Doom Eternal clones would be a Postal game?
"Clones"
6:28 the south park that was released a few years ago was not a FPS it was an RPG
Those fly NPC honeys couldn't get any more dummy thicc
I will say, the Gatling is FANTASTIC for boss fights, especially the non robot phase of the final fight
We need more games like this!
12:44 it actually can, Ive done it a few times
If it’s things in his head, they would be callbacks. I don’t think 2019 is that far back to reference
I love the time bubble, feels like a homage to quantum break
Honestly I just love how Gman’s comment section always seems to be able to respect each other’s opinions and tastes. I really like that people here can actually disagree on what they think is good civilly without judging each other for their preferences. It’s always nice to see mature attitudes towards gaming discussion and analysis these days.
"that South Park First person shooter that came out a Few years ago". Few years= Quarter of a centaury
Semantics.
Seemed like you had more to complain about. Also E3 2021 was the most recent E3. Look it up. Otherwise Postal is just as much about the catharsis as it is the humour. Otherwise it wouldn't be so macabre in its gore. If the first problem you have is that the level design has variety (or as you put is both trying to be an arena and boomer shooter) than I don't know what to say. Either way I'll probably play this in five years depending on if circumstances are better.
the fact the references are outdated is just icing on top of the cake
Gman, you are the best and I genuinely love everything you share with us, but Tourette’s Guy must live on in your videos forever! He never gets old.
But in all seriousness, do what you want brother. It is all love.
DIY psychonaut work: the game.
first time seeing this game, looks sick
This game will basically be a relic of a time where things were at there craziest.
Good show, Gman. Unfortunately youtube decided they were going to butcher it with their awful adverts this go around.
21:06 a few what issues?
hey man ur killing unarmed civilians without the game forcing you. doesn’t that go against your high horse morals gman?
I played it recently and they actually fixed some of the problems. The meathook now stuns enemies. That sound effect from the penetrator is gone. It can also hit multiple enemies now.
Thanks for the info anything? What about ammo?
