It may be a bit dated, but that powertrain is practically bulletproof. I had the 2.4 in a 2010 Lancer and it never gave me any problems. After ten years gave it to my sister and her son is running the wheels off of it. I always changed the CVT fluid at 30K and the engine oil at 4K.

@@joeb2588 It seems to be a good one. We've had two 2010 Lancers in our extended family - both higher mileage now (not sure exact), but they've both been cared for well and are both still reliable. Plus a friend owns a 2009 Outlander with the same powertrain and as far as I know they've never had trouble with theirs either.

I purchased a 2022 Outlander sport SE last April with 4 miles on it. Now that it has almost 12,000 miles it seems to be quicker getting up to speed since it is broke in. No issues whatsoever with the vehicle. Bought it for the price, reliability and it certainly has been tested over the past 10 plus years it has been around. Great vehicle for the money.

Me and my wife have actually used rentals about 10 times this year, we have rented rav4s, Nissan kicks, jeep Cherokee, Ford escape, Chevy equinox and a couple others. We recently got to rent one of these outlander sports with under 1000 miles on it. We drove it from Las Vegas to Anaheim and back and it was actually our favorite (maybe minus a Camry TRD) it was practical for a family of 3, it drove smooth and quietly, had enough tech for us (personally hate too much) and it got decent gas mileage. I think these are slept on

@John Ward Mitsubishi has quietly made a slow but stable comeback since 2014 in the NA market. They're expanding their dealer network and just moved into their new NA headquarters in Franklin TN. Mitsu isn't going anywhere. This is a good thing. Have you seen what Toyota is asking for a RAV4? There's need to be more competition out there, especially more Japanese MFG. Mitsubishi sells millions of cars worldwide, as well as nuclear reactors and Stealth fighters. It's a point of pride that Japan's oldest car manufacturer still have a presence in the US market. The Tri-Diamond isn't going anywhere. Hell they're bringing in the Triton pickup and resurrecting Raillart. Rumors are the real Eclipse is coming back as a rebadged Nissan Z too.

Great review, as always! These are great cars despite being kinda long in the tooth. I had a 2015 (bought new) that I only recently traded, and it was one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. Never any major problems outside of routine maintenance. Not quite as happy with the Mazda I got in its place, and the service at the Mazda dealership isn't as good, either. I'll probably switch back to Mitsu (either another Outlander Sport or an Eclipse Cross) as soon as I can!

Final word: The Outlander is a superior car. Fact. What is the biggest problem is people hate trying to say...Mitsubishi! It's a mouthful.

@MrLefty27 What made you decide to go with the GT instead, of the other trim levels like the LE? Was it the engine? As for the tire pressure reading, do you mean that it does not beep like the new cars when the air pressure level needed has been met, or that you have to read the tire pressure reading the old fashioned way with a tire pressure gauge.

The 2 of the codes were fcked up. it was a mess. i am so happy with this one. The only feature that's acting funny is the windshield wipers control. Sometimes it's delayed and I have to mess with it.
