💣💥 HOW TO SCRATCH USING DJ CONTROLLERS - FREE LESSON #1 - DJ ANGELO shows how flare techniques were developed as a way to create more sounds with less movements (or "clicks" of the fader). Watch the video to learn One Click Flare Orbit, quick and easy
[Comment below: What's the one scratch technique you'd love to learn?]
Watched many tutorials on scratching but this one is very simplified.Struggled for long on platter and fader movement but yo've answered all my my yrs q's in just 9:38.God bless you.Thumbs down are the haters.
Great, glad you liked it!
Thanks!
Whenever any of DJ Angelo's vids come across my home screen suggestions, I always watch it. Even if it is one I have seen before, just like this one. Always good to watch and (re)learn basics from one of the better scratch tutors on RUclips.
He's awesome :)
He is the greatest
DJ Angelo is the 🐐 of these tutorials.
👌
This was the best tutorial on sketching. I learned how to think while doing it
Glad you liked it!
THANK YOU THIS VIDEO HAS HELPED ME SO MUCH
After practicing it for hours a day and getting a feeling for the deck as a rhythmic instrument nd what not I can finally get this one click flair at the last speed shown in the video though the beat im using is just 73bpm.
What helped me a lot is practicing the one click flair slow and getting a feeling for the crossfader rhythm with the beat. If you can get a feeling for the rhythm by hearing that clicking sound when ur hitting the left (or right) side of the crossfader on beat with whatever beat you're using you'll get a way better understanding of it and then you can go faster.
Edit: also practicing super basic baby scratches to gain a fundamental understanding of rhythm in your platter hand helped a bunch
Glad it's helped! How has the practising gone Joshua?
@@digitaldjtips its pretty slow right now but I'm building an understanding of the relationship between crossfader and platter. I noticed a lot of the time my hands get easily mixed up and result in sloppy cuts, so I'm trying to get a more accurate feel for the rhythm and pulse of the platter and crossfader
This is a very well put together video
Thanks a lot!
one of my most fave DJ teacher. DJ Angelo and DJ TLM :)
🙌

Thanks!
Sick enough! Thanks for teaching! :D
No problem!
I have watched a lot of videos in the past and could not clearly understand the fundamentals. This teacher is awesome. Well explained! I'm impressed. KUDOS
Thanks Benjamin - we appreciate the support.
This was explained perfectly.
The training is only using one hand? If you're using the other CDJ? Don't you have to be able to "the same" do with both hands?
You can simply reverse it, though even pro scratch DJs are often much stronger on one hand and use instant doubles etc to make sure they're often scratching on their stronger side
Thats what I'm fucking talking about, you explained it simple and right to the point. Love it . Keep it up master!
Glad you enjoyed it DJ Gerardo.
This is awesome! Well explained. Will definitely be watching this channel more closely
Cheers 👍
*I'm Still Learning from Dj Angelo.. He is a Great Teacher...*

Dj Angelo~ I recognise his voice instantly
Yep :)
I tell y'all, this shit is hard! Seemed easy to me once while visiting NYC and saw some kids were having mini block party and I asked whether I could give it a shot but got embarrassed bad 😅 and my respect for the MCs gone up higher as well as for those kids who were scratching that day! I'd rather stick to my guitars and drums :D
If you can drum, you can scratch! :)
@@digitaldjtips if you play wah wah you can scratch!
Great tut
Glad you liked it!
Great tutorial thank you
No problem!
How months does it take a learner to know and be able to work in a lighter club or bars.
There is no set time limit, it could some people weeks and other months/years
Beast mode at the end - quality

Question: How Do You Get That Type Of Sample So You Can Scratch?? Because Scratching Like That Normally Is Real Complicated For Me As A Beginner.
Hey lamont, you can grab free scratch samples on us here: djtips.co/scratch-social
Excellent video 👍!
Does anyone know if this kind of video is put together with OBS or an editor like Premiere? I also can never figure out how ppl get such nice overhead vids. Im converting my scissor type mic thing into a DSLR holder but whole thing gets very cumbersome. Ud think apple came up w easier tripod solutions
Final Cut Pro, but any video editor will do :)
well done,thank you
It was great video ... Wonder why more videos are not been uploaded ?
Yo great man from uganda they are not going to take mi dimes just like that, wen I have a simple helpful teacher. Uganda stand up
Where can one get that sample from?
I know is late but you can download it here in freesound (you have to sign in first):
freesound.org/people/feveran/sounds/59002/
Can someone please tell me the ideal fader settings for this?thx
As sharp as possible so the volume of the opposite deck cuts in at full volume with the smallest movement of the fader
Can someone please tell me what is the term when scratching after releasing deck a or b then move to the other deck. Whichever deck you move to. Stats from your cue point
If I'm understanding what you're asking correctly it's called "Beat juggling"
Having a really hard time with coordination. My crossfader hand wants to mimic my platter hand 😖😖 so frustrating
Are you trying to do both at once, or have you tried practising just the crossfader hand and nailing that down, then the platter hand, getting that right - then combining them?
whichever hand you write with should be the one you're using on the crossfader
Same here. I was born left-handed but my Caribbean grandma (RIP) forced me to use my right hand, so I'm uncoordinated AF. Seems like I am trying too hard. I guess.......I know I need to practice more.
Great insighful video! Much thanks :-)
You're welcome
Excellent tutorial
Glad you enjoyed it DJ, what else could we do to help?

Terminal Mix 8
Should I look at my laptop when scratching with dj controller?
To start with it can help but as you progress you won't need to as much (or at all!)
@@digitaldjtipsTurntable can be marked and it is spinnng but controllers don't. How could I do drop scratch without seeing the marker on laptop or vinyl? Can practice solve these problems?
Yes! Plus there's no real need to be focused on not looking at your laptop that's what it's there for, as long as you're not completely lost in it and ignoring your crowd
@@digitaldjtips thanks for your reply
Dope tutorial ....wat kind of controller is that or wat brand ??....there so many now
