    Great review and yes, Caymus is a very iconic wine. They’re special selection is one of the best Napa Valley cabs I’ve ever had older vintages more so than the newer ones.🥂

    I love this wine. One of my favorites.

    Cabernet Sauvignons that are "all kinds of jam" & present a little bit of this and a little bit of that are a dime a dozen on the market but at least those wines sell for $10. How can Caymus justify selling this wine for $90?

      @charliep9286 Год назад +1

      Agreed!! I can get a Caymus like cab, sometimes even better for $20 bucks!

      Caymus is recipe winemaking! Horrendous 🤢🤢

      The bottle he had was probably $400+ since vintage.

    Had a 2014 caymus in January 2023, and the excess fruit was tamed a lot. Much better.

    So I have a few bottles of Caymus. If I keep them stored properly, they will be considered vintage?

    • @bill9989
      @bill9989 5 месяцев назад +2

      What? Vintage refers to the year of harvest.
      It doesn't mean old or "retro" like an LP turntable.

    Caymus is so overrated. Plenty of wines around that price that are better imo. It’s still a good wine and all, I’ll always drink it, but just saying.

      Can you recommend some wines that are as good at a better price point?

      @@kimberlyy911heitz cellars is one name that comes to mind that i enjoy. Look for smaller producers. If you can get into a devoted wine shop just ask someone knowledgeable working there and they should be able to point out some great napa cabs you cant necessarily find everywhere

    Tried my first bottle of the 2020 Caymus and although I concur with many of this particular reviewer’s observations on the nose and initial taste impressions-I really didn’t enjoy the overall experience. Perhaps my taste in cabs has little in common with “cherry Jolly Ranchers” but I’d be hard-pressed to justify recommending this cab-particularly at its current price point. I’ve had many wonderful cabs that were far more enjoyable at half the Caymus price.

      I think Duckhorn cab is much more of an interesting wine than Caymus for sure and its about $10ish cheaper

    A definitely overrated cab.... Quite a few sommeliers don't really care for it, and I agree....

    It is a bit pricey for what you get, there are some better wines for less money.

    Everything said about this wine in this review is a flat out lie. Caymus is straight up mass-produced swill with the mouthfeel of maple syrup.

    • @WineLover77578
      @WineLover77578 Месяц назад

      Interesting you say Maple Syrup. My taste profile was "overwhelming Cherry NyQuil". We are probably tasting the same syrupy added sugar (it´s not residual, I think it´s added to match the super sweet taste profile of their customer).

  • @sfbassplayer207

    I call BS. The 2020 had an overwhelming nose of mint chewing gum and taste like you just walked away from a bonfire. It was one of the worst wines of 2020
