I was there, it was crazy, had it’s great, good, bad n ugly. For me the greatest was being 150ft from stage for korn n when they came on, did blind, holy hell!!! It was INSANE n I thought I was going to die happy by being crushed n suffocating lol The good was great music from all other bands, rage, metalitica, kid, Sevendust, RHCP, plenty of others. The bad, it was hot, it’s 1999, 95 plus degrees n 16oz water bottles $4, 15 or 20lb bags of ice $15, items overpriced. The ugly, how it got out of hand, 70 plus % of the crowd is young men 17-25, it’s hard rock, they got pissed n did some wrong things, fires, abusing n hurting women. The immaturity really showed, even if pissed off, the small percent mad it look bad.
One positive thing I’ll add, I went with my ex, my first love, when leaving we couldn’t find her car. We decided to sleep in parking lot, not smart but thankful people put all these red blinking lights all over us :) we woke up flashing from every 6inches on our bodies. If not for those people doing that, at night someone could’ve definitely ran us over. So to whoever did that, THANKYOU!!!!

Its not much of rock that I like but there is some songs and maybe only 3 or 4 groups. I don't know if Evanescence was there, but I was wondering how did DMX make it and had the crowd wild doing Rap.
It wasn't a small percent that made it look bad, the majority were joining in. there were reporters on the ground witnessing the unruly crowds. Look up the documentary on it called Train Wreck. Quite a fitting name if you ask me, legendary show or not.
@@MrThatpersonthatguyWeird that there are gigantic metal festivals going on with almost identical demographics to this one where none of the madness that happened here goes on. It's almost like the demographics have nothing to do with why what happened happened.
Definitively, one of the craziest festival ever organized.

Well, it's as simple as putting "Woodstock 99" into the RUclips search bar. I did that and wasn't disappointed. I've so far only managed to watch the entire Bush set list, and a couple of limp bizkits songs (Nookie, Break Stuff) because I was curious about one of the guys working there, off to the side stage, telling Fred Durst that he ruined Woodstock, and that their band was overrated, right before they played Nookie, Fred seemed completely unfazed, which was kind of a hilarious 'fuck you' to the guy that told him that. It's something you could miss entirely if you blink, however. I am pretty sure the guy was dissing him based on their Break Stuff song being such crowd mayhem. Especially since, it is rumoured that Fred was reprimanded for encouraging the crowd to "take all their negative energy and let it the fuck out" I highly doubt he meant to fuel more negative energy, still... it's kind of difficult to take focus on the positive, when playing a song like Nookie. Plus, during Break stuff, his pausing towards the end of the song, to tell the crowd "when this song kicks in, I want you to fucking kick in" it's actually rather epic in my opinion, he brought a lot of energy to the crowd and those two songs were some of the most high energy moments of Woodstock 99. Epic. Tragic sexual abuse moments, that were too easily taking place due to the overcrowding causing no one to notice or the ones who did notice.... still were helpless as far as helping. :( Rip Woodstock.

I remember seeing a good one on British TV about it years ago.
The two bits that stick in my mind are, the Limp Bizket set and some old hippy woman (who appeared to possibly have been one of the organisers) trying to hand out black garbage bags to people to clean up the site and basically getting told to fuck off. She was also being interviewed post event in the documentary.

I know this is an old comment but, I was there, it was fucking hot for three days. Really small pizzas were $10 bucks and you couldn't bring in food or water. Did see a crazy amount of bands though.

Was so happy I got to see Rage Against the Machine, even though it kicked ass, they came out and played their set....and left the stage, didn't seem like much interaction with the crowd.
What an incredible festival! Saw so many incredible performances, yet regret not being able to see more!

Beth Walker I was there also, it was hot, overpriced n not clean as you say. The crowd was 70% young guys already pist off when LB came on n the music set it off. I don’t blame LB, it was on both sides, Woodstock trying to make money, not being smart supplying goods knowing its July, hot as fuck, how is 16oz bottle of water $4!? Yet us young men still did go overboard, I didn’t get crazy, had fun but didn’t start tearing shit down or hurting ladies. It was the few percent n it got the attention.

94 was much better. 99 definitely had a lot of anger and you could feel it intensifying as the first night raged on. I will say I still suffer from ptsd since that show in 99. Women just stopped reporting rapes and gang rapes because they literally feared for their lives. The band's styles and people didn't mix well either.
