I love how Gasly is still wearing an Alpha Tauri helmet, even though he's at alpine
I stopped having any engine issues after getting about half of the reliability upgrades. Do keep in mind that i run 25% races so you will still see more wear than I did, but the upgrades still helped.
i has 5 seasons now with 25% and never ha done failure am i just lucky ?
@@tsvkrumbein9951 you probably don’t have mechanical failures turned on. You have to be in experienced mode or whatever it’s called for the option to even appear. At least that’s how it had to be to turn mine on.
@@huh8896 That could be it. When I had no reliability upgrades I felt like I had and engine failure every second or third race. So if he had no issues at all with that option turned on, I feel like you would need either insane luck or godly engine management during the races, or both.
@@tsvkrumbein9951 Very unlikely but it is a possibility. I reckon Andrew's theory is likely, and you had mechanical failure turned off.

Haven’t done a durability improvement with my Honda power unit yet, halfway through season 2 and haven’t had but one dnf so far. You might wanna consider switching after this season? 🤷🏻♂️
I'd say focus more on performance. Perhaps for every 2-3 performance upgrades, do 1 durability upgrade. While it sucks having a failure, it does provide some spice to the series! For me, I find it a little uninteresting when there's a car that has 100% reliability and there's never a fault.
I think it was going to be at least 6th or better. Sucks how everything becomes almost like a VSC for the AI as soon as the player finishes/retires from the race.
Dura is good to go for but don't fully focus on it do mostly dura but now and then some areo power chassis

Ben do you have standard high for failures because I think low high is a good middle ground. I did a two player career and had 5 engine failures and 1 gearbox while using standard and high
Really must be said that it is a wonderful livery
Next season should be 100% races with the full season

If I were you I'd work on chassis and aero only then next season change to an actual competitive engine and go from there

Go full ham on reliability man, and sprinkle a few performance upgrades here and there to keep you from falling back. TBH you could have focused on durability towards the end of last season but yeah regulations and all so make it your number one priority.

bahahahaha - yes Ben - Codemasters do have a lot to work on that is more important than grid penalties for quali indiscretions.
Funniest thing is - they're never gonna work on any of it. At this point 2021 is effectively completely finished. If y'all are lucky, someone might fluke fixing their naff code around an issue cheap enough that it gets included - but this is the real world, that won't happen - they won't even waste the money looking at how expensive a given glitch will be. You've got a couple tracks coming and that's it.
The priority is already next years abortion of a release. Which is why you're still waiting for tracks, why you only just got Portimao.
We need to get you onto presenting a product of quality made by someone with a decent rep.

It is weird because even with ALL durability upgrades, you are bound to get AT LEAST one DNF like this per season. With new components even. It feels very scripted. This is where I lost a championship by virtue of mech failure with brand new components. On one of my strongest tracks. From P1...

I asked the question about not taking extra components on the last race video & then in the very next race you have a failure. Now taking new components will likely cost you grid positions & potentially points.
Fun fact: Codemasters are going so much by routine on these F1 games, they didn't even bother changing the track layout at turn 10 to the one they used this year.
Ben complains about Durability after investing in it, yes, but he only invested in build time, he didn't actually do much in the way of actually upgrading durability components! XD
I had a mechanical failure while running in P3 after half the AI didn’t pit under safety car, and was an almost certain finish in that position. It was a BRAND NEW component which id taken for that race (spa) and it would’ve been huge points for the team which was struggling so much. Was devastating.

In F1 2020 I'd always put the most points into durability! Seriously, every other team will have some engine penalties or DNFs at some point and then I can capitalize on that. Early parts of the season might be a bit difficult, but in the later season it massively pays off.
Durability is worth it on my end but it's also affected by the fact that two of the engine suppliers for season three had 100 durability. Pretty much your call but you should still invest heavily in durability this season.
I just had one of the best career mode races in a while in my own career and then watched this. so depressing.
Verstappen signed for alpine in my career, after I got ocon for the 2nd season... Ocon hasn't finished 4/5 races in my car and I've done the durability upto about 15 so I dunno 😂
i swear to god that claire just loves rubbing salt onto the wound. it always happens to me. i crash or something happens to the car and she is like “difficult day out there, can you tell us what happened?”. like bruh 😐 she loves watching us suffer

I have nearly finished season 2 of myteam, and I have had not 3, not 2, not 1, 0! mechanical faliures, and I have not been investing in durability, so I think its luck and you don't have good luck
Guys how can i fix this tyre overheating issue? I’m in 10th race of second season and my tyres are overheating even in lowest possible pressures. I mean car was undriveable at zandvoort.
I try not to post negative comments on RUclips, but hopefully this is more constructive than negative. After a long wait between episodes, it kind of stinks not to be able to see a full race. In the future, if you DNF so early, I think you should consider editing that race down more and then including the next race. I do understand that it does take time to do all the upgrades and practices before each race too though, so I get why you might not be able to do this.
Just want to point out you said fuel efficiency is a bad upgrade. No. I can completely underfuel the car to the most possible and still have enough fuel. It’s one of the first upgrades I do but, what do I know
Ben any chance you could have a one-off livery for your home grand-prix and not only that maybe make it Orange a throwback to the original myTeam livery that started all this off i think that would be an awesome touch. vV

I think these breakdowns are dumb... sucks tuning in to watch your career and then you blow an engine only get 20 minutes of you practicing an then 2 laps of the actual race.. if there's a way to turn down breakdowns you should
Up to you for durability... I mean I have the best in the field and after 3 races I've had 2 failures at the start of my season 2 but I will say that I'm was more competitive during the course of season 1
i maxed durability first and it doesn't change the rate of mechanical failures, it only changes how quickly your components take damage, do not recommend

Player failures aren't really that interesting, its not like something you can even drive around or a risk vs reward thing in the race. Its just pray to rng that you get to play a particular race. Not interesting and defiantly makes the videos worse.
Hey Ben; since your car is now white would it make sense to change your team colour? After all, your car has very little purple on it now.
Fuel efficiency is a great upgrade because a less fuel=less weight. Less weight=faster car. Sure weight redistribution is the best, but fuel efficiency is no slouch either.

I didn’t have any durability and didn’t finish the first 3 races of season 1, but I only had 2 more since I started upgrading it
This many retirements is unrealistic, the real life cars are much more reliable, they hardly ever break. Can you please change that poes hud to kph !

I went with Ferrari engine ton start with and they have the best durability at the start and my engine blew up in the first race lap 8 😭😭
