Somehow in this years F1 game I really like France and I include it in my every season. Especially final sector is fun to drive.

It's absolutely ridiculous how little the DRS being open hinders you in the corners, it should be completely undriveable, instead of handling like missing 3 clicks of rear downforce at most
I remember Alonso having DRS Failure for Ferrari at Bahrain a decade or so ago, that's what it should be like
You have to rely on the drive out factor of exiting the pits more. It is possible to make it to the line with the session ending in 2+ minutes. The fly out option isn’t always fair.
This circuit's lap is around 1:26 give or take. You'll need around 1:30 between leaving garage and reaching the end to start your new lap which is the one that counts.
You won't have time if it's only 1 minute left. Besides, the AI in F1 games decide that whenever you do a flying lap and then go back like 4 minutes go by.
You’d need like 1:40 cause of the getting out and the pit limiter makes you slow
When will Ben ever learn..That the time is irrelevant when you choose "Flying Lap".. it's always better to just driver out yourself...

I really like watching these vids and they’re quite entertaining, but the flaws of the game do annoy me quite a bit sometimes, specifically the AI, not only are they very bad at overtaking unless the player is involved but the AI also have really bad strategy especially when rain and switching conditions are involved. It’s just funny to see an AI pit to interns 1 lap before the rain ends or something.
Yeah I 100% agree. It’s the main issue with this series imo. Ben does what he can do make it realistic and then the AI just behave so stupidly with strategy and lose the race. They really need to fix it this year or for F1 2022 at the latest
I am reminded of encountering a glitch in F1 2020 at Brazil, when the Renaults kept pitting over and over because the crew wouldn't put new tires on their cars. I would have been amused if Ocon hadn't ripped off my front wing coming out of his second pit stop...
@@redneckgaijin yeah, in Ben’s two player career season 1 finale Leclerc did the same thing or something close to it, over 20 pit stops
This one wasn’t too bad though - Ben’s strategy was a big risk, another lap or two and the verstappen would have caught him, or he might’ve had a puncture. The thing about the track being effectively dry though when it looks wet is dumb

Fun fact: Ben scratches his nose right at the end after the outro, and says "aah, thats a good scratch"

He's a great player, far better than me, but the lap times the AI were doing at the end weren't much faster than what they do at my difficulty level.
Predictions for next season : Rosberg joins Mercedes replacing Bottas and Russel replaces the retiring Hamilton. Ben signs Ricciardo/Button.

You should always do an outlap when doing quali. The game gives you a lot of tire wear from just sending you out. iv seen 3-6% without you doing any driving. you can start lap at 1-2% if you do it manually. If you use the same set twice the game just gives you 6-12% wear which is insane

Ben- With qualifying, why do you not drive out as opposed to doing the fly out? You can go significantly quicker than the AI do, and still set yourself up.
Also saves tyres! Kinda took me by surprise too...
Not only that, but the AI absolutely destroys the tires during out and in laps. I made an experiment in Monaco with fully developed car. I did out lap looking after temperatures, flying lap and in lap, and the tire wear was 1%. I let the AI take care of things, and the wear was at 4%

It's odd that you mention the AI being OP at France, as that's the opposite of what I've found... Maybe i'm unusually good at France compared to other tracks on the calendar, and I need a difficulty bump there, but in a car that's usually in the back to mid-field in season 2 of my-team, France took me to the podium.
I think France is indeed not that hard of a circuit compared to AI.

I got my first win in France I stayed out on mediums for 22 laps until it rained I pitted then everyone else had to put so I won the race by 17 secs
