    To solve the looser fitting bulb issue with LED/HID bulbs, go to a local Ace or other hardware store with one of your bulbs and find a silicone washer in the fastener aisle. Put it between the bulb face and the light housing, it takes up that extra bit of space and gives you a tighter, wiggle free fit.

    That’s normal for the driver side headlight to be lower than the passenger side. It’s so when driving down a 1 lane road you don’t blind the driver coming towards you. It comes out of the factory that way.

    Thanks Jimmy, cool video. I also have an '03 Suburban, and a few years back I replaced the stock housing with a "projector" housing...appears to be simply a smaller 'lens' for the lamps, but actually does focus the beam better than the stock housings...I'm curious if these lamps will fit mine, because I think that would really look great...I would like to update the color temp of my beams...wondering if the high beam lamps are upgradable as well??? Thanks again...subscribed.

    I believe it has a ten pin flasher, which is nice, but expensive to buy.

    • @WthaHatchet
      @WthaHatchet Год назад

      Turn signal in rear requires resistor install in line before bulb socket for led to turn off. Will stay on permanently otherwise due to improper resistance from the lower wattage requirement for led creates less resistance and flasher doesn't function properly.

    Did you have to install a (I can’t remember what it’s called) load resistor or something for the headlights? No sensors are triggered by the lower draw?

    I have a 2001 Suburban and was told that I would need to upgrade the amperage coming from the socket (basically buy a socket with higher capacity) in order to convert to LED lights. Is that true? Also, if so, would I need to uprage the fuse amperage as well? Or, was I just misinformed? I've had my suburban 18 years and don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. Finally making upgrades after raising 3 kiddos.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 3 года назад

      For older cars like this the headlights are fine. It is the brake lights that can be an issue. It can cause the cruise control to not work. The cruise control needs to see some higher resistance to work so you can add a blast resistor or an extra small bulb.
      Also, led turn signals won't have enough resistance to activate old mechanical style flasher units. They would blink way too fast. You would want to swap in an electronic flasher module to fix it.

    Your eyes are physically turned to respond better to the yellow light of a halogen bulb vs the white light of LED bulbs.
    The actual lumens could be higher with an LED bulb. But the most important factor is how much you can see.
    The solution to this problem is to make an LED bulb that matches your eyes sensitivity. I like LED bulbs, they use a lot less energy and they last at least twice as long.

  • @1947froggy
    @1947froggy 3 года назад +2

    Good video, technically a lighting engineer would point out that the oem bulb and the fixture reflector are designed to "work together" to project light & minimize "blinding" of oncoming drivers. An aftermarket bulb negates all that engineering. Just sayin. Froggy

    • @dtnel
      @dtnel 3 года назад

      Unless they designed certain bulbs with that engineering in mind. Apparently the engineers missed the mark over last 8-10 yrs as factory vehicles blind people right off the lot plus the height.
      Once a lawyer catches on and starts making money off these companies jacking trucks up that blind people and some causing accidents then they'll be adjusted properly even and aftermarket and upfitter shops.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 3 года назад +1

      This is why you want to look for leds that are in the same location and shape as the factory filament. It should be that "grain of rice" size and shape. Hold it up to the stock bulb to compare.
