Good to see others out there doing this sort of refreshing upgrade. I have a 2006 Silverado Crew Cab 4 x 4. I'm doing exactly what you're doing. All chrome is going bye bye and I'm replacing it with blacked out versions. Smoked headlights, turn signals and fog lights. The silver and gold "LT" badges will be replaced with solid black. The silver "Chevrolet" badge will be replaced with a solid black one and the silver and gold "4 x 4" sticker will be replaced with a solid black version. I'm also going to powder coat the rims and get away from the chrome on those as well. The Tahoe looks amazing. I'm glad I ran across your video today. Steve D.

Great video. I am not a huge fan of the same color stop and blinker lights. I personally always like it when the blinkers are yellow and the brakes are red. That way if someone is stepping on and releasing the brake pedal you don't have have to guess if that is a blinker or not. Super small gripe on my part. If you like them (and you appear to) then it's friggen awesome!

I love how you updated this rig. I've always loved the Tahoe and suburban. And you have "modified" this exactly how I would have done. This is the definition of "tasteful mods". When it comes to upgrading a vehicle on a budget one of best was to do it is with factory parts. Once I saw the reveal the first thing I said was "leveling kit would really set this off" and bam! You mention it...so I hope you have done it
When ur done trimming the wheel wells try using Adams undercarriage spray to make them look better. Also everything came out great! Never had a Tahoe but I remember when I was 17 my uncle who used to live with us came home in a new Tahoe and he was so proud of it and well after watching this series I can see why. They are great vehicles and my uncle still has his and drives the same as new and I’m 26 now soooo yeah they are built to last. Also idk about the led bulb as a headlight I still think it will scatter but you should at least try a high quality brighter halogen bulb (:
Looks great! I think if you leveled it, removed side steps, all gray plastic and replaced with new black plastic such as rear bumper plastic and front lower valence it would be just right!
@@tonystarks9179 Nah dawg. In Colorado it's 27% but inspection is only for exhaust. You can leave the front windows untinted and do whatever you want with the back and still be legal. It's so bright here you can have 5% and not be hassled.

Except 1) Googone should not be used on painted surfaces. Alcohol is safe and usually works too. 2) Multi-letter disconnected badges like that almost always come with a clear sticky sheet over the letters, that's not just to protect it during shipment, its also for application. You are NOT supposed to eyeball the placement, but use that with a piece of blue tape above that sticky clear sheet to line everything up like a hinge, then remove the adhesive facing the paint, and press in place. If for some reason its lacking it, which I've never seen, you can place tape over the lettering so they all stay in position and do the same. The lettering adhesive will be stronger than the tape, so once pressed on you can easily remove the tape.

I I just got a 2005 Tahoe to use as a winter beater. But my curiosity got the best of me and started watching videos about it. It is videos like this that are giving me encouragement to make mine nicer. Thank-you. And your Tahoe is looking good
LsxMatt >>> I like what you're doing overall to your vehicle, it's starting to look quite good. I hope that your replacement lights do not start developing condensation, the front ones are especially prone to this. Also, be careful with tire rub: it's kinda like the saying about roaches, if you see (1) one roach, there's bound to be a (100) a hundred more; with rubbing what you've noticed will be the minimal amount until you're on some really rough roads, or your vehicle is really laden (weighed down), that's when you'll see the "real" total amount of rubbing. If I were in your place I'd just use the tires until time came to replace them, then I'd go back to the original specs (or at least something a smidge smaller). Great video, thank you for the share! ;-) PS ... when you were showing the rear fender well about the tire rubbing I noticed that your rear shock looked quite busted and rusted. Maybe you're do for a new pair of rear shocks, and if you're considering a front "level kit" maybe just forgo that for replacing the springs with the shocks; the springs may just be sagging because they're old. This way you get a better ride and look instead of a nice looking ride that doesn't ride right; now say that 10x quick! ;-)
Highly recommend upgrading the wiring harness for the low beams to the Standard products wiring harness upgrade with bigger gauge wiring because they are notorious for overheating and melting the sockets. Happens to rear turn signals too. Sylvania makes good running light led replacements also. I've changed those and the reverse lights in the rear and it made a huge difference.
I call my goldarr..mine is the pewter beige. I did black for accent color black wheels tail lights tint etc. ordering new tail light and headlight housings. Got all the lighting inside and out converted to led. Then I just have the lowering springs and catback exhaust with headers to get and I’m done.
If I could make a suggestion, you might consider picking up some black ColorBond or similar paint/dye to turn the gray plastic rocker and bumper trim black too... I think it would really tie everything together and make the trim look less worn.
My 08 truck is looking a bit tired. A good way to bring it back. Might have to do the same. Polished up the headlights the other day and it made a big difference. Might U-pol raptor line the bed and hail damaged bed caps to give it a cleaner look. Maybe even update the stock radio as you did with something a bit more modern this year.
The headlights and turns have butyl. So they're sealed. Also silicone is the worse thing to use if there is a opening. A good storm and you'll be opening then to drain them. Also leds in a reflector housings for headlights is the worse thing to do, go get some 9011 and 9012 halogen bulbs. 100x brighter then those amazon leds Or just retro fit some led projectors if you want leds.
The problem with aftermarket LED lights is that the brightness difference between the running lights and brake lights is not that much, so it's super hard to tell that someone is braking. Also, amber turn signals are much safer, as there's no ambiguity as to weather it's a turn signal or just a bake light.
I want to do exactly this to a suburban when I get one. I do not want to jack it up because I’m handicapped, it’s got to be low enough to the ground so I can get in and out and also have my power chair in the back. I also want to have all the windows tinted except for the windshield and have some kind of system in it, nothing too fancy, just some six by nines on the doors and in the rear and one built-in sub, no boxes because I’m gonna need the space in the back, also I would put another newer black books shield in the front, it looks good like that, that’s all I would do and get it detailed inside and out. I have the bumpers sprayed. It looks good man.
I have beam tech LEDs 6000k, 10000Lms in 3 vehicles, all fog lights 880s, highs 9006, lows 9005. In 3 different vehicles and love them. Never had to any problems with fitment. The only ones that seemed a little different at first was my brights on my Silverado. But turned out it was only because my fog lights made the dims so much more brighter. Had about 3 years now no issues. Looks to me like your Tahoe’s fog lights aren’t the original or are but actually for a older model like 99 or so that came with the round light housings on the valance which is prob why the 880s didn’t fit , or wouldn’t without drimel work. The original 880 fog light housings are almost oval. Like an out of square rectangle, with rounded corners. I have 3 vehicles with these original from factory. All running the 880 beamtechs and honestly there the brightest lights on my vehicles.
Transfer tape is the easiest way to get the logo aligned. You can find it at Joann fabrics and there is even a dollar store alternative to it as well but it’s not full see through at the dollar store but it works the same.
And if you take those bolts off the fog light housing you can remove them unit and then put bigger brighter led bulbs in that’s what I had to do. Big difference compared to the smaller ones that fit without removing the housing.
6ix set Because the entire bottom of this truck, including around the wheel wells would be a complete pile of rust if it had spent a decent amount of time in New York.
Looks nice man. Same color as my '05. Gave me some ideas. I ran into the same issue with tires, lol. My factory wheels had the clear coat peeling, needed new tires, same story. I grabbed a set of 2017 20" GMC takeoffs with good tires (so I thought) for a great price off Craigslist. First Michigan winter, I learned that the stock Good Year RS-A tires are horrible in the snow up here. Found a good deal on a set of Hankook Dynapro ATM a little oversize from stock. Night and day difference. We got 18 inches of snow overnight last winter, and I just drove to work like I was on dry pavement, lol. I get the same rubbing, but only at full lock with 285/60/20
Used to work in advance auto and gm trucks were the easiest bulbs to change out. All of them. It was a pain changing out all these other cars bulbs. Some are literally impossible. Those few changes make the truck look way better. Nice job bro. Did almost the same on my 04 Silverado reg cab and made a huge difference.
Looks good. I painted my tow hooks red. Really pops ! Repainted my grill emblem gold and several coats of clear. Painted all other bow tie emblems red. Installed Escalade rims.
I did most of what you did to my Z71 burban! I recommend painting the bottom plastic that's grayish along with the side steps etc black. It makes it look cleaner and sharper imo. Matches the window tint etc better. Love the truck!!
Sir, I am in love with your truck. It looks perfect, the wheels look so clean. the badges are perfect, lights are sweet. Honestly I personally don't like when people modify their cars cause most of the time they look hideous or super flashy, but yours is another level, everything looks like it's stock but new. I swear I even like it more than the new Tahoes haha, congrats man!
That’s actually a good idea to silicone the headlights. I have a 02 burban and I’m going to get new headlights. Didn’t think about using silicone but I am now

Came across your videos by coincidence on youtube. I have a 2004 Tahoe myself. Much smaller marked here for Tahoe. But I am not giving up. :-) I really like your style of mods, you got a new follower. :-)
Exact same color scheme as my 06 suburban. My lights are in pretty good shape, but I do like what you did with the head and tail lights. Maybe this Summer Ill think about switching them out.
Quick heads up. My 05 Suburban cruise control no worky with LED brake lights. Turns out to be 05 06 GM SUV's uses computer for cruise and it uses brake light circuit for control functions. either use std bulb or add resistor so computer registers it.
i never have issues with my led/ hid lights not fitting in the factory lights. ive used many brands and no issues. i have usually had to take the brackets off first, but thats not difficult. I use an 01 silverado so our lights are interchangeable.

Happens to rear turn signals too. Sylvania makes good running light led replacements also. I've changed those and the reverse lights in the rear and it made a huge difference.
Dude that editing transition 16:37 was done so perfect and in sync I damn near thought it was magic where he got that other bulb from mid air shit! 😂😂
Yeah wtf 😂
I love the little crowd applause sound after you attached the Chevrolet badge! Classic! Great job
Keep the eye brow just paint it ! It will stay looking good for a good while and it goes with the ones on the windows! Love the new look!🔥💯
I call my goldarr..mine is the pewter beige. I did black for accent color black wheels tail lights tint etc. ordering new tail light and headlight housings. Got all the lighting inside and out converted to led. Then I just have the lowering springs and catback exhaust with headers to get and I’m done.
Awesome videos, I just bought a 2001 Tahoe, and I have learned a lot about it from your videos. Keep it up!
If I could make a suggestion, you might consider picking up some black ColorBond or similar paint/dye to turn the gray plastic rocker and bumper trim black too... I think it would really tie everything together and make the trim look less worn.
Crank up the torsion keys to level it it looks badass
It'll be like driving a brick down the highway, but are you lifted? Yes.
The only thing garbage about this truck is the license plate lol
The headlights and turns have butyl. So they're sealed. Also silicone is the worse thing to use if there is a opening. A good storm and you'll be opening then to drain them. Also leds in a reflector housings for headlights is the worse thing to do, go get some 9011 and 9012 halogen bulbs. 100x brighter then those amazon leds Or just retro fit some led projectors if you want leds.
Cleaner without the wind visor on front. Great vid! The light upgrade made all the difference
The problem with aftermarket LED lights is that the brightness difference between the running lights and brake lights is not that much, so it's super hard to tell that someone is braking. Also, amber turn signals are much safer, as there's no ambiguity as to weather it's a turn signal or just a bake light.
Perfect man!!! Simplicity is key you did that man!
Lights are done, now is time to mulch your yard!
I get all butt hurt when people go ripping off emblems ect. You got taste though. It works. It looks good.
beulahboi why get butthurt ?
I like things kept original, usually. Just a preference. I wouldn't tell anyone what to do. I'd just shake my head and stop watching lol
Transfer tape is the easiest way to get the logo aligned. You can find it at Joann fabrics and there is even a dollar store alternative to it as well but it’s not full see through at the dollar store but it works the same.
man,at first i was on the fence about this video and then i saw the end result, that car almost looks as fancy as an escalade
And if you take those bolts off the fog light housing you can remove them unit and then put bigger brighter led bulbs in that’s what I had to do. Big difference compared to the smaller ones that fit without removing the housing.
The truck looks great but that Tahoe clearly did not spend much of its life in New York.
Being from Buffalo, I completely vouch for that.
Cleto also from Buffalo I can also vouch for that
@@prestondoring2640 why is that? It would have rust everywhere or something?
6ix set Because the entire bottom of this truck, including around the wheel wells would be a complete pile of rust if it had spent a decent amount of time in New York.
All the salt
Needs amber bulbs in the front turn signals. Profile wiper blades all around. And paint the rusty trailer receiver
Man this truck looks amazing great job man🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I get the same rubbing, but only at full lock with 285/60/20
This is nice! I like the factory look your going for! Good job!
You got nittos tires , your going to have no problems with them bad boys , one of the most best off roading tires to have
Looks good. I painted my tow hooks red. Really pops ! Repainted my grill emblem gold and several coats of clear. Painted all other bow tie emblems red. Installed Escalade rims.
"Urrrm....so hot!!" I must admit I laughed at that. Well done sir! You've brought Tahiti into the 21st Century!
“Truck”
That’s actually a good idea to silicone the headlights. I have a 02 burban and I’m going to get new headlights. Didn’t think about using silicone but I am now
@lsxMatt hit that hitch with some black paint to get ri of that surface rust... Really makes a difference. Also love the tahoe! You got yourself a new subscriber😎😎
You are going to daily it....what is the gas mileage on it?(mpg)
Its gets like 12 combined
@@lsxmatt we have simular likes.....so since you like doing mods, how about checking gearvendors overdrive out to help on gas mileage? We all like your vids! Doing the gear vendors will draw more attention!
I remember back in the day when ebay used to be a joke filled with cheap knock off products.. but now they have so many official sellers and real oem products ..Ebay has become ❤ Life!!
I was looking for an older sliverado and found you. Now I'm looking for an 06 tahoe. Will work better for my family and save me money upfront. Love the videos thank you
Looks good, better than it did. You made good choices on parts and sold the shit out of that speaker.
@LsxMatt looks great. I'm proud of you my son. I got an 03 runs like a champ just did an oil change on it electric fan, transmission fluid flush out plus filter, and new front rods
I'm your friend from saudi arabia from Middle East very good job i love you work on your tahoe i'll do some works on my avalanche 2013 😎👌🏼thanks go-ahead
I think the mods did you are very tasteful excellent! Since you switched from gold to black I think all the gray trim you have on the bumpers and door handles and side mirrors painted black would make everything really pop ! And look much more modern! And really bad assss!
If the leds dont work out I would highly recommend hakari in Amazon. They have very good build quality.
Jonathan Antonio have them on my 15 Accord worth every penny
Pro tip. When you put the rear Chevrolet logo on put masking tape over the lettering peel the back off and the tape holds the lettering in place press onto lift gate and pull tape off
If this was my vehicle, I would install a CB radio. Those things are fun.
Now just add behind the grill light bar did it on mine and looks sick 32” top grill row and 2 9” on the both looks nice and bright on dark roads
My turn signal looks like a fish tank
rip
Good job keeping your blinker fluid topped off👍
Came across your videos by coincidence on youtube. I have a 2004 Tahoe myself.
The way you are filming and explaining how to diy is great! :-) I have no skills about how to fix my car and modifying it. You have done great job with your Tahoe and your choice of mods. It looks fantastic and is not tacky. You are inspireing and I hope you continue with new videos of your Tahoe.
After watching just a couple of your videos, I have already started modifying and looking for parts for my car. It takes a bit longer time to find the parts I want here in Norway. Much smaller marked here for Tahoe. But I am not giving up. :-)
I really like your style of mods, you got a new follower. :-)
The badass soccer dad that ends up treatin the kids soccer game like fifa mobile Not hating just a thought that popped in my head 😂😂😂
Exact same color scheme as my 06 suburban. My lights are in pretty good shape, but I do like what you did with the head and tail lights. Maybe this Summer Ill think about switching them out.
Really nice job 👌. It makes it look like a new vehicle. Keep it up!
For my tail lights I just used led bulbs and the factory housing. It’s been working great. Did it about a year ago.
What brand bulbs did you use?
Order some high beam led bulbs I have 6500k on my 17 traverse. A must have for night travel
Quick heads up. My 05 Suburban cruise control no worky with LED brake lights. Turns out to be 05 06 GM SUV's uses computer for cruise and it uses brake light circuit for control functions. either use std bulb or add resistor so computer registers it.
I think it would be pretty cool to see you later on down the road do a cat eye swap on it!
i never have issues with my led/ hid lights not fitting in the factory lights. ive used many brands and no issues. i have usually had to take the brackets off first, but thats not difficult. I use an 01 silverado so our lights are interchangeable.
Drop the suspension and add some 22’ rims
no quema cuh
Looks great. What kind of wheels are those? I have a 2002 suburban z71 not crazy about the z71 wheels plus mine are scuffed up
Big difference. Lose the red sticker on the back window and it’s perfect
My 05 is white and I’ve done the front grille bow tie black and smoked fog light housings. I want bigger wheels and new badges as well. Mine is only an LT but blacked out on white is boss.
This is fucking sick. Looks awesome dude. Makes me want a tahoe.
I did the same on my 03 z71 suburban. New modern z71 badges, grill emblem, headlights, tailights, led bulb conversion, short antenna,22" black wheels and window visors. Looks 100x beter and much more up to date. My only gripe about yours is the emblems the ones you picked are terrible. The ones i got are the one they used on the 05+ models and fit in that same area and are the z71 4x4 emblem. other than that i did basically the same mods lol
