Seeing Wawa get into this, the look on her face when she learns new things...you can tell she does have the passion, and I can see her want to to burnout competitions or dirt/drag race. I can certainly see Ralphie take his Vette to the strip! God bless all and Merry Christmas!
Hitting the nitrous with no load will definitely bend connecting rods, the kids skills are improving dramatically can’t wait to see the day when Ralphie and Wah Wah build their own motor. Best wishes to the family and have a Merry Christmas and happy New Year let’s see ya hit that 150K mark next year.
Loved it! Squeezy actually sleenked in this time instead of out! Wawa is so grown up. She was diagnosing why the bolt wasn't turning the way she expected, figured it out and successfully removed the item. So proud of her! As always, thank you for sharing! Love you guys!
That oil pan removal is one of the better engine carnage scenes I've seen. If you followed the couple videos for the build, watched the burnout competition, leading up to this, what a saga! I know it's older but this needs some views. And when I saw that crooked piston, I was like, RIP one more original 4 bolt main block in the world, bummer. Then when the pan came off and it was only 2 bolt mains, I was like, whew! But that crank, just weld on it a bit, then recut it, probably be fine.
I am LOVING how involved the kids are with helping. They are learning, figuring stuff out through trial and error and you guys are keeping it fun and encouraging them as they go. It's so neat to see! I had to laugh when the wrenches kept getting dropped because it took me back to helping my dad and brothers in his garage and our vehicles were parked over a pit. You learned to try your best to hang on to the wrenches or you had to walk down the steps into the pit and retrieve them. LOL! Oh the memories
Thumbs up for Wawa ! In 35 years as a mechanic, I have torn down and assembled many, many sbc engines. I find her technique and assessment of the rockers & push rods to be spot on. Another great video !
Wow!!! When you showed the pic of the hole in the oil pan I thought it was from the mini mite. But dang you done did it! The kids are learning so much. Good job dad with explaining what might had happened.
Wow! This was such an interesting video. Never saw the inside of a broken engine before - and probably never will again. What other family would regard the post mortem of a broken engine as a xmas present?! Best wishes to all of you (animals included); looking forward to more of this insane fun next year (helping me keep my own sanity). (Special Hullo to Squeezie, occupying her own unique space.)
I saw me a kitty yesterday, a black and white one, just a kitten like yours. A couple had it a the truck stop I was at. Let me pet it. So sweet! Take care of the Baby!
A good project would be to build a push bar for the front of the tractor maybe with a 2x12 bolted to the steel bracket with tire tread on it. It’s just a suggestion
One take away I have from your videos is how positive you all are. You look at the good in every car and situation. It's rare to see that, looking past all the bad side to things. Your car stops running and still you praised that it made itself onto the trailer. I saw that same attitude in all your videos. I consider your videos as good an entertainment series as any TV series, no bad language and Christians to boot.
A family that works on car’s together you can’t get any better than that I’m sure Squeeze will join in eventually. You are so blessed Josh I just love you and your family thank you for sharing your life with us. God bless you all
Great entertainment everyone, love your channel. Turns out it wasn't a 4 bolt main engine so wasn't as great a loss. Merry Christmas to you all and Happy new year
Merry Christmas here's wishing you a safe and prosperous new year I love your channel and all the things you do to get all the old cars running and driving ,Josh you and wife are very lucky to have such great kids.
First, merry Christmas to the family. What happened is that the NOS caused cylinder temperature to rise, the extra heat caused the rings to expand to the point that the gap closed all the way, seizing the ring, and thus, the top of the piston. When you build the next engine, add about .015-.020 additional gap than you would for a naturally aspirated engine. For example, with a 4" bore, a naturally aspirated engine should have about .018 gap. Any time you're using NOS, sushi slicer, or supercharger, you'll want about .033 to give extra room for expansion
I was hoping there would be a Christmas upload from the Sleeperdude clan, and y'all didn't disappoint. Thank you very much! That poor Malibu engine been through some real stuff. Seems like putting it to rest is a good choice. Watching this break down was pretty spectacular seeing all the parts and chunks and stuff coming out of it. Looks like this was shot pre lift install, which seems like it added some to the struggle of getting it out. Y'all never disappoint with your content. It's also nice to see y'all so grateful and appreciative for the views and comments and participation in your channel. Hope all y'all have a great and blessed Christmas. May Santa bring you all the best presents!!!
Thanks for that. I like the way you and the family work together. There was no blame thrown around. You approached things with a scientific method, working thru problem solving, listening to everyone's opinion, empowering the children and educating them at the same time. Good job!
Merry Christmas Josh, Tosh, Wawa, Ralphie, and Squeezie! Your videos are some of the greatest on here, and my family always looks forward to seeing them. There's nothing quite like settling in and watching a new Sleeperdude!
I like how Wawa is getting more hands on. That would be awesome if her and Ralphie had their own restoration shop someday. Squeezy can join the circus with her thumbs, lol, my thumbs do the exact same thing. Love y'all, Merry Christmas! 🎄
I was more excited for you to open that engine than I was for my xmas socks! I agree you probably bent a piston rod enough and it kissed the crank counter weight...the end.
Thank you for the last 6 months of videos. They've helped me through a bad time in my life - I like to watch them when I can't sleep in the small hours of the night. I'm really looking forward to what the next year will bring. Happy Christmas to you all and my best wishes for the New Year.
Sorry about the carnage to the engine, it was sure fun while it lasted! Merry Christmas to the entire Sleeper Dude Family!! Looking forward to see what the new year brings!!!
One thing I did notice sleeper brotha is that a couple maybe 3 of the connecting rod endcaps are facing backwards if they are backwards they can bind and destroy bearings... The endcaps on the bottom flat end surface are made with a round edge and a sharp cornered edge... ALL of the sharp cornered edges must face to the front of the engine
Love seeing the carnage video. Shame that it happened, nice Sherlock Holmes impersonation trying to figure out what went first. Time to find another Malibu with a trashed interior, do a swap and kick it down the road.
That is the most gnarly looking crank journal I've ever seen. Also probably the most grenaded crankcase I've seen. This is what nitrous does to a wore out stock motor when you rev the guts out of it. Lots of fun...but the motor will blow up.
I've been amazed that everyone in the comments are so surprised it blew up. I was lookin for someone to say that ya don't hold that button for two minutes WFO on a tired high mileage motor...lol I had to say hey when I saw your comment. We still have people that really know about engines altho it should be comment sense...lol when I was a young man my engine builder would give me hell for hanging on the button too long in the 1/4 mile. And that was only 7 or 8 seconds...lol not 2 minutes
I’m currently dealing with my truck being stuck in the driveway. I am not able to go to work because of the blizzard outside. Fun times up here in Indiana.
Merry Christmas Sleeperdude Family and all followers , ok , motor broken but hey , you guys did had a good time while it lasted ;-) . Nice to see the whole family grow more and more into this and help to make great content , love you people..
19:15 and 19:30 - I don't think those inspection ports are supposed to be there on the oil pan... 👀 25:09 - Can we get some sweet and sour sauce to go along with those Piston McNuggets? 🫙 I love seeing the carnage from the teardowns "overzealous" engines. Brings an evil smile to my face. 😈 I'm a recent subscriber to your channel and you and your family make quality late-night entertainment. 😀
Good to see Wawa working on the cars learning her way, never know what the future holds. I see a top fule mechanic or driver .it's so nice to see a yong person learning with a wrench in there hand instead of a cell phone good kids
You know if you break a wrist pin like that, that was good one, and the fact it still ran. Them Wrist pins from experience can take beating, I've torn apart a few engines that blew up so bad that it broke head bolts and completely deleted pistons but the wrist pin always survived without a mark, That was a good one!
You are a very talented young man. You know your business. I was wondering if the nitrous had anything to do with the melt down if the engine? There must have been tremendous heat. Anyway I'll keep tuned in on this rebuild. A family project again. Happy Holidays to you and all of your family. Be safe, healthy and happy!
@Josh, I have to say my wife and I both really respect you and your wife for teaching your kids all about vehicles. I feel likè all kids, especially today feel entitled and can be spoiled brats, but its truly nice to see kids being raised with love and respect, who ARENT AT ALL ENTITLED OR IGNORANT. THANK YOU both for raising kids the way they should be, and they will all be better individuals for it. My wife will continue to tune in to both ur channels, due to the content, humor and grear family values. We would love to see your next burnout vehicle as maybe an old 2002 chevy s10 Ls. They have the V6 4.3L vortec engine and some are 2 wheel and some are 4 wheel but whatever you pick will be great. However im personally hoping for the 2002 chevy s10 v6 vortec 4.3L. Lol. Keep up the great content and we will surely, keep on watching. Merry christmas ftom our family to yours. Stay safe and warm.
I have a weird idea -- maybe the engine could be put back together leaving out the pistons, rods, and valves of the two cylinders that are destroyed, and it would run on six cylinders. I'm sure you have better things to spend time on, but someone might have some fun with it. I remember I had an 83 Cutlass that had a 90 degree V6 that was a based on a V8 with two cylinders deleted. Just a weird thought....
Just a thought on family safety. 🙂 Ralphy and the rest of the family go and take a safety class on driving as well as auto safety and mechanical safety. please be safe.. Merry Christmas
I like the “can we get this old car to run…until parts exit the oil pan” angle! Whole new direction for the content, feels like Christmas to me!! Well done!
Hey SLEEPERDUDE how are you doing buddy? I am sorry to hear that the engine blows up on you. You did put it through some hard times. I know you will come out with something better. You & your family have a Merry Christmas & enjoy your holiday buddy.
Squeezy saying "I'm Okay!" getting out of the car was priceless! WaWa getting the job done. That poor motor was toast! I grenaded my 230ci in my '64 C-10. It rattled and knocked bad. I was returning home from an errand and was looking in the rear view mirror and saw a spark and it died! I got it running and it smoked like a day at Woodstock! I got the motor out and smoked #'s 2 and 5 pistons, pure meltdown. That's when it got it's replacement 350 from a 79 van that had a ton of miles on it. Fun times. Your wife is priceless, she just laughs and has a good time. My wife would lose her mind if I did that work and it blew up! How much was that, even though the motor let go, you did a good burn out in my opinion and it sounded so good! Keep on having fun you guys! I really enjoy the show! I'm binge watching on my TV. I even catch the wife watching, she loves the animals as do I!
When towing with a tractor, I was taught to always hook the tow point below the axle of the rear wheel on the tractor. This will keep the tractor from flipping over backwards.
Merry Christmas Sleeperdude family. That was a great educational video. We learned that having fun can sometimes damage your engine. You already have your next burnout vehicle... the mail truck. It's already lowered to protect a roll over, you were already thinking of a new engine and tranny. You definitely will need a stronger engine cover though. Either way, can't wait to see the next vehicle. Take Care and Happy Holidays.
**** PLEASE READ **** Greetings, We enjoy your content but would like to make a suggestion. Can you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, pick a project like the 64 ford fastback and complete it. I think friends would enjoy watching your family do engine repair, interior, body work, welding, and even back yard paint. The whole family could help in different areas and learn from doing it. Just getting cars started then letting them rust back into the ground is a bummer. The whole idea is to rescue them not let them have a brief resurrection to just die again. And then sell them to a young person just getting into the hobby with a modest or brake even profit or even donate it for auction for charity. Take care, Jeff & Kathy
Hi Tearaways. Heres a thought for the Malibu. Cut/section the entire side of the body with the Sleeperdude sign on, and hang it on the outside of the new shop!
haaaa . you defitnely popped the pringle . new car maybe amc . bigger motor fox body would me nice pinto . merry blessed christmas happy new year my mates .
God bless you all and Merry Christmas. The fact that you invite all of us along on your family projects is truly a blessing.
Thank you so much 😊 merry Christmas 🎁

@Sleeperdude make it in to a v6 engine and blow it up again
I loved the way she started checking those rocker arms as soon as she had the valve cover off! Great job!
Hitting the nitrous with no load will definitely bend connecting rods, the kids skills are improving dramatically can’t wait to see the day when Ralphie and Wah Wah build their own motor.

Wow ! That blowed up real good ! Can't believe you were able to drive it up on the trailer. Great video, as always !
Crazy right

My favorite family car channel. Merry Christmas from California!
Merry Christmas to you as well
this is a great learning experience for the kids, and how exciting it was to tear this one down just to see what broke.
The Carnage!!! That was some crazy damage, RIP little motor.
Thank you
Good to see Wawa working on the cars learning her way, never know what the future holds. I see a top fule mechanic or driver .it's so nice to see a yong person learning with a wrench in there hand instead of a cell phone good kids
Pure calamity! 😂 I definitely think a shorter car would be better for Josh to sling around. Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
Your probably right . Thank you
RIP poor Malibu. Merry Christmas, y'all from Conover, NC!

Keep up the great content and we will surely, keep on watching. Merry christmas ftom our family to yours. Stay safe and warm.
Ralphie will have fun cleaning those headers
Your right
Great video. Can’t think of too many other kids that are in their dads garage tearing engines down . The knowledge they are learning is awesome.
You did a good job on that v8 lol Merry Christmas 🤶 🎄 ❤️ hope you all have a lovely time

Ralphy and the rest of the family go and take a safety class on driving as well as auto safety and mechanical safety.
please be safe..

Hey Mack!!!!!! Good to hear from you. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Squeezy saying "I'm Okay!" getting out of the car was priceless! WaWa getting the job done. That poor motor was toast! I grenaded my 230ci in my '64 C-10. It rattled and knocked bad. Merry Christmas guys.
