  • Here's a segment from PM Magazine Chicago featuring Norman Mark visiting Captain Nemo's Submarine Sandwiches (or do you say Capt'n?) at 7367 North Clark Street in Rogers Park.
    And they're still around!

Not sure when this aired. Probably 1981.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 3,800+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:

    Cap'n Nemos is awesome!
    Best subs in Chicago!
I worked there in '81 as a kid and Lou R, Mrs. Nemo and fam were fantastic people.

I just ate there. They still make a damn fine sandwich, but it's going to cost you more like $6. The original owner died late 2019, but his son (who made my sandwich) is quite competent.

Went there many times in the late 70s and early 80s until I moved away. I also thought his wife was beleaguered by the Capt'n and she was particularity at a loss when he went off on a racist (not towards me) tirade. Those were the days.
