The dry wall and light duty hinges make this project ‘An accident waiting to happen’, good idea though 🤔😬
Broken necks are all the rage nowadays
Your comment is related to the only reason I came to the comment section. I've seen stronger hinges on dollhouses. Maybe this person is one of those types that does things incorrectly or misleading just to get attention on videos🤷
Exactly what I was going to say!
Not anywhere near knowledgeable on woodwork and DIY, but my first thought was how lightweight everything was for something you'd be up and down on, with your full weight all day 😅
Absolutely terrible design. Those drywall anchors cannot withstand anything close to the dynamic load of a human climbing stairs. Those screws will not hold those hinges.
I see lots of folks talking about under-sized hinges, I'm more concerned about using dry wall to take the load
The load is transferred to the floor and the elevated floor. The drywall is just holding the contraption upright when its folded up.
@@bobguy6542 same thought.
Those drywall anchors are not rated anywhere close to the dynamic load of someone climbing stairs, especially since the stairs are loosely hinged and will transfer all kinds of angular momentum. Those anchors will wiggle loose. The first failure will be the 3/4" screws on the hinges torquing out of the plywood end grain though.
@@bobguy6542 No, it doesn't transfer to to the floor or the elevated deck. The whole weight of the person transfer directly and only to the screws and the hinges.
@@jtcmlt1 wouldn't it be a 50/50 transfer, 1/2 into the wall and the other 1/2 load into the outside stringer
It's worth repeating that the hinges are comically undersized for this. Disaster waiting to happen. The stringer against the wall is supported by the floor and the vertical portion of the landing so the sheet rock anchors just hold it in place. If they actually had to take load it fall part in a few days.
The 3/4" screws on the hinges will be the first point of failure. Probably would last a few days.
@Len James
It never ceases to amaze - and amuse - me how many YT 'experts' fail to see that the plan / design is of greater value that the demonstrated prototype implementation.
Who would seriously use particle board for unsupported stair treads?!
The drywall will eventually fail as well. The small screws won’t last as long as drywall under this application. I believe the outside stringer could be mounted like a normal stair with the hinges on the inside corner. That would also guard the pistons holding it in the top position
Agreed. I think it would be rock solid if it had some construction adhesive on it. Or... just find the framing! lol🤭
Yes I was surprised that was a serious suggestion, Obviously not enough for a structural application.
I always wondered how those cabinet doors were made like that. Thank you for amazing video. 👍😁
I've seen those before but I've never seen how they are made. Thanks for making this video
Great work man! The foldable cabinets doors looked sick. I'm definitely going to do that in my garage. Thanks for the idea
I'm sitting here wondering "What in the world is he making?" then I see it and I start to chuckle,,,,, How clever. BRAVO YOUNG MAN.
Youre obviously a smart guy, which confuses me why you would secure with drywall anchors. Legitimately
This is really cool!
I'm pretty sure the 3 screws in the hinges would rip out and I would fall through the stairs after using it a couple times though unfortunately, but for a kids bed or something it would be neat.
Very cool ideas for sure!!!
Thanks for this vid!!!
My first thought too when I saw those dinky hinges. A 300+ lb person might collapse this thing on the first try. I'd use heavier hinges and use bolts where possible and longer screws.
I wouldn’t even trust that hardware for my kids, kids are ROUGH on stuff. However it wouldn’t be hard to figure out sturdier hardware
Pretty clever. Can't see how those stairs are very strong. Must have quite a bit of give when a normal size person stands on one.
I loved the part where the project met code standards! Thanks for making the world a better place!
The idea is cool though.
🤣🤣🤣
Those no-swing cabinet doors are awesome. Very cool.
Helping Others In Their Tough Of Need Is The Best Gift Of Humanity So Your One Click Can Change Whole Life ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
dude the stair idea was really neat. I'm rebuilding a mobile home now. I think I'm gonna use these ideas 👍
Wow, mai vista una cosa simile! La chiusura del mobile nel secondo video, mi ha lasciato a bocca aperta. Bravissimo
Love the concept, but wouldn't the weight capacity of the stairs be severely limited by the light duty hinges used?
I think half inch plywood is strong enough for household use. Weak point is the dry wall.
@@ahmedeensaeed991 I think the plywood is fine, but from what I'm seeing, the plywood isn't supported by anything other than a cheap hinge. Probably wouldn't be too long before the hinge pin bends and you can't fold the stairs.
@@TheWeekendAngler TWA - You are right. The hinges are the weak point of this design and they should have been a much stronger type (and probably two of them per connection). This will fail in time.
They were mounted with really short screws that went into the edge of the plywood as well. Someone's gonna get hurt if they build using this design.
@@ahmedeensaeed991 the plywood is standing on the floor and resting against the back wall. The plasterboard fixings will outlast the hinges as there's no load on them
Love the cabinet door. I have seen the idea in garage gates and the idea is out-of-the box! Good job!
I love those stairs.
Great design.
I'll modify it a little and have them disappear into the wall.
Thank you.
He makes it all look so easy!
All of you dissing his construction… make us a video on how YOU would do it!
What a space saving solution a whole basket under there that’s crazy!
This guy knows his stuff.
You're fastening a stairwell to a well with just some sheet rock fasteners, GMAFB, the 3rd time you use it, it will collapse under yiur feet.
Imho Those fasteners aren't carrying the vertical load of the staircase. The plywood stair stringer is doing that. They're only there to stop lateral movement when he pulls and unfolds the stairs. Not saying they will never fail but he would know that immediately when he pulls on it. If it safely unfolds properly it should be safe to walk on.
True. Maybe his wall doesn’t have studs at all 😂
I envy your idea. I'm learning a lot. Thank you. I want to talk a lot, but I am not good at English. You're the best.
They say do not be too careful and do not be obsessive. All that you have done requires great care، It can not be done without care and obsession 🌺🌺🌺🌺👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥇
Van De Beek really has learnt new skills at Everton
That cabinet is pretty cool, but seems like it leaves a decent amount of unusable space, should you want to put shelves in it. The "doors" block a good amount of the top
quite flimsy design, I wouldn't dare to step on these stairs 😉, but very wellmade video 👍, thx for guiding me to decay's craft 😄
I love the idea of one handle in the middle bottom
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC JOB, JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR PRESCRIBED.
Yeah not gonna lie those cabinet doors looked sexy, and I also like the folding stairs super useful.
I am really impressed with your work, nice job!
Ok, that cupboard is the coolest cupboard I've ever seen!!
Wow that's awesome!!!
Great video. Good ideas. Now I just need to come up with 3k for all the plywood! Lol
hinges in edge grain plywood ? not sure how safe when the load on those stairs
Don't worry those are structural 3/4" Chinese wood screws.
@@onetwothree4148 I was just about to say, is he also using 3/4” wood screws?
Very interesting those stairs however if I were to build them like that I would reinforce each step on each side of the bottom with angle iron just doesn't seem like it would be that sturdy I'd be afraid to walk up them only because there isn't a stair stringer in the middle of the step
A good way of making an illegal set of stairs!
If you have all of those tools and material, you should build something like this. Well done my friend!
Now the folding steps was pretty awesome.
Very nice work! I love the storage unit/cabinet.
Can I possibly get the dimensions for the cabinet
Grazie per le Idee e per questi utilissimi lavori .
Good. Very good.
Love ❤️
Really great video
Wow its is absolutely amazing work Man, if you where here my country I really get you to do a renovation of my condominium I don't mind to pay more costs 😀 👍👍
Not sure what the point of these are, you see builds like this all the time in spaces where you could just build regular stairs. Stairs with drawers would be better suited in most of them. Maybe on a wall leading up to a loft in a garage would be useful so you can park your car, but that's almost never the case where the space saved was used for something useful. Here it was just for a basket of towels, I guess towels are useful.
I was thinking the exact same thing.. now it just looks like an unsightly thing against the wall.. i guess its a conversation piece but other than that in most cases its useless..
The stairs are ingenious. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Nice I don't like how the steps hang off the upside down stringer on the right side....not too durable
LOOK AT THAT! WOW!
Oh my goodness 😳...this is insane especially the last one....Great job man
This guy is so smart. Unmatched, full of ideas.
Some furring on the wall-attached stringer, flush with the bottom of the treads, would keep weight of people on the steps from shearing the treads off there.
True. But then they are certainly going to shear the other side off because you can't add a ledger board on that side. This is a horrible design. No doubt, the first time they ever built a staircase.
Very impressive ideas, tools, and workmanship.
Es un placer ver trabajar a éste hombre...! Ideas prácticas y obviamente unas herramientas que acompañan su forma de hacer arte con la madera...Un saludo desde 🇦🇷
You are a genius!! 😳 👍👍
Those little hinges, those little screws, and the way they're attached... I can't imagine this construction is going to last for a long time. I've already seen a few RUclips videos with "foldable stairs", which (with the same functional principle and the same space savings) make a much more stable impression.
wow perfect job. verry talented guy.
Газлифты на лестнице желательно развернуть. Прослужат дольше. Так как стоят не правильно. И в таком положении быстро выйдут из строя. Засохнет резинка и выйдет газ.
That's an amazing work,
Troppo bravo! Complimenti per il progetto e per l'esecuzione.
Mafoy has got some skills
Super pleased with the step by step explanations to go with the footage as well…oh wait
Keren banget saya suka ini, luar biasa brother 👍
very good but I can't practice it because it's hard 👍
Clever young man!
wow amazing job simple stairs
Excelente trabajo un abrazo desde Chile 🇨🇱
Благодарю вас за видео
Excellent mind blowing 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great ideas, with some room for improvement.
It would be helpful if you write out what all the things are called so we know what to ask for in a hardware store, thanks!
Again your wonderful job
Gracias por compartir , excelente trabajo, saludo desde Colombia
That's a big nope for me. No way I'm trusting my weight to those dinky little hinges.
Then use some industrial grade steel frame...
@@arieloq regardless, the treads should rest on the strings, period.
Finally a tutorial on something similar to infinity door. That cabinet at the end is very similar to the infinity door clip I saw a few years ago. The stubborn previous uploader did not show how it worked. 9:15 is magic 😊 realized
How to build an accident waiting to happen? Screws into side grain of plywood? Downward force is borne by the screws in shear? No handrail? Pure garbage.
Very nice 👍👍👍
If I had to guess this guys background involved making a lot of doll houses! Curious to see how well those tiny screws and hinges in plywood hold up after a few uses! They clearly have never seen kids use stairs before
SUPER KREATIF SUKSES SELALU GBU
The screws to the side won't hold for long and there will surely be an accident. Dangerous design.
Wuis keren abis disignenya 👍👍👍
Very good ideas,very good job
Saludos desde Ecuador no se si ud hable y entienda español es la primera ves q veo sus videos y la verdad esta muy lindo lo q elabora pero seria más i teresante si ud dejara las medidas k algún plano de lo q hace bendiciones a la distancia
Great Video.. thank you..
Amazing worked
Man,you are a maistro playing his master piece
Bro thank you for the video, great idea and concept...
Sei un ARTISTA!!!👏👍👏
I made a stairs of eight inch drawers for an artist's loft, forty years ago.
Great idea
Wow great idea 🥰👍
Must resist watching. Wormhole opening...weekend slipping away...must build for access to crawlspace. 🤣
Amazing 🤩
Magnifique travail
Очень классно сделал . Молодец.
The guy’s got skills!
He does not have a look of a carpenter but an office guy. Still he did a good job.
@@ahmedeensaeed991 He looks like a carpenter or woodworker to me. But then I am judging by watching what he does with his hands, not his clothing or hairstyle or whatever it is that makes him look like “an office worker” to you. BTW, I’m a carpenter with an Engineering degree that has done my fair share of office work. Now that I think about it, I did dress a little differently for some of those jobs. But, the craftsman in the video seems appropriately dress in my opinion. But it’s only an opinion, and it’s mine not everyone’s.
You’re right, though, he did a good job, and that is the point of the video.
Just my two cents.... (worth every penny 😁)
Great work job well done
Nice work
Nice ...can't wait to make in future
Great work! video🎥 chill out😎
Beautiful sir
This Ikea guy knows his job...
