There is a reason you can sum up Sailor moon as Cosmic horror story with magical space Jeasus who is also a harem protagnist insisting that happy ending is not just posabile but mandatory.
the worse/best bit is she chose the war agaist Chaos aka option 3 instead of option 1 leave chaos at the source of all souls at full strength or option 2 destroy chaos but all destroy the place where all the souls are made.
though when she wins(for good since she can acuttaly kill chaos it will just reincartate eventually she just can't destroy what is most likly called the chaos crystal) any death that has occured she can undo . she can also do this bweteen fights if she wants
I mean, Chaos is ultimately a Star Seed that failed to be born. And given Sailor Moon's thing is miracles, the renewed battle means she has a new perspective. She could, in essence, help said Star Seed be born.
Chaos is sort of not that in the manga in fact the star seed fully matured(aka a senshi crystal aka the source of a senshi power and where sailor chaos usagi/sailor cosmos rival comes from and is only part of chaos) chaos also forms into guardian chaos who is even more powerful but remains in the galaxy caldron to basically insure the soul/power source that is what I referred to as chaos crystal is melted down there which is the only know way to permanently destroy them.
Usagi power is less miracles and more at least her main two powers are Infinite Power(she will never run out of power) and Infinite Reincarnation( she can reincarnate herself or others as much as she wants she if for example their body and soul are completely destroyed we actually see usagi come back from that when she took option 3 aka absorbs chaos into her body and then melt them both down to nothing
As for what chaos is he is something from before Existence was a thing and doesn't like it so wants to destroy and and then commit suicide to return things back to the way things were before this new thing called reality happened in fact most of the the bad guys are it's spawn( or manipulated/controlled by it's spawn). The main thing stopping it is usagi because it can't fully get rid of things because she will bring it back so she must be made to give up

RUclips keeps recommending me this vid. And I keep getting back to it all the time even though I bought the track for offline listening a while ago. I just can't help it, your rendition of Moonlight Densetsu hits the spot so perfectly for me. I almost feel that this is what I was looking for - without even knowing it - ever since I fell in love with Sailor Moon back in my school days. And suddenly, in a bizzare impulse of nostalgia, after a couple of nights of searching RUclips for covers and pixiv for fan art, I at last found it.
I'm not sure I can express it well enough. Just ... so beautiful, so touching, so emotional. And even though I already can tell that you're THAT talanted, as your other covers got me into vocaloid (Suna no Wakusei!), I can't help but thinking that you actually do love SM that much. Just... damn, so WOW.

I spent my summer breaks during elementary school out in the field in a desert with my geologist parents, watching only Sailor Moon on a battery powered CD player in the mid-2000s. I can sing Sailor Moon by heart and I can't sleep in soft beds. Amazing that the two are connected.

Dark and gritty? It was already pretty dark with death, betrayal and horrible fates...and it also was the most kinky anime that got aired in the west, i mean name another anime where one couple is basically two very incestuous lesbian cousins
It's darker than usual, but it's still shoujo. OP probably means something with a consistently serious tone, like mature shounen or seinen.

Sailor Moon... I just remember how silly this magical girl show starts out... and then how at the end of the first season or so everyone gets murdered and Sailor Moon is left alone for the final fight, in which (I think) even her lover was turned against her... kinda hard to believe how fking brutal this show could be at times and at other times, have characters make stupid pranks or talk about who loves the hot dude more...
literally. First by Beryl, second by Black Lady (his own daughter...), third by Galaxia in the manga.

In Sailor Moon Crystal (and the manga, I believe?) Sailor Moon wasn't able to free Tuxedo Mask, so she ran him through with a sword instead; then tried to kill herself with it.

She "kills" him while fighting him after he is possessed by Metalia (if I remember correctly) and because she believes he's dead, she kills herself with his blade. Of course because there is like 5 arcs to Sailor moon, they pulled some magic out of a hat and oh guess what they're not dead

I still like sailor moon. I get that it's dark but I ask why is it so damn important to give up. I ask because life has been hitting me awesomely lately but it's like, must I if I reached said destiny? Idk it's just sailor moon taught me to be oblivious and not to give up. So again why giving up is important. I thought but now idk. I get all the other scouts but with sailor moon it's like EH? X4
I'll give the series some credit for that. Basically the immortal question, "Are some battles worth fighting even if there's no way you can possibly win?" And I definitely prefer it to more pro-nihilistic contemporary stuff like "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" and "Rick and Morty"...that at the end of the day, the "right thing" to do is still the right thing to do even if there's no reward for it.
(Although I think the source manga's original theme was mostly "cute people should be free to sleep with all the other cute people, even if they're parents and offspring"...)

And like i see where the both of you coming from but i do have to ask sir? would you save Sailor Chaos or no? I ask because lately it feels like saving chaos is important because i feel a small part of me knows somewhere from long ago that it is necessary to save Chaos but only if Chaos has had enough light and i guess that's where balance comes into picture

In the manga, Sailor Chaos was hardly even an individual but more like a malevolent force, and it didn't seem like there was "anything to save". (In fact, in the manga, Sailor Galaxia was the first and only true villain Sailor Moon attempted to "save"...but it wasn't out of mercy. She just so sick of people dying she didn't even want to kill the villains at that point.)
I never watched the anime but I know it did a lot different, eventually having Sailor Chaos merge with Sailor Galaxia and, in general, giving all the characters more personality. So I'm not sure how my opinion would change from that.
@@johntumahab323 not asking you to change your opinion but understand the 90's version and me as a 92 kid. if not then it is ok. i say that because i get the manga version of chaos but WTF are you supposed to do when all our lives we were told to pick one side and i tried that and its like wow can't believe i died a shit ton of times but all i can say i will save chaos either if i am alone on it or i die trying by that i mean literal dying and not spiritual or metaphorically. it is something i believe is right but if i die then i guess i was never meant to live and have a future and a dream. but what do i know after i have had people tell me i know nothing. so like wow thanks not mad at you just mad at my past. i love it, i hate but most of all i learned but i guess if i didn't then please kill me lol :') :) :'P

I wasn't trying to insinuate anything; just talking about my opinion on the series itself. I'm sorry if you felt that was a personal attack or a statement toward a person's value.
I was also talking about applying the theme of self-sacrifice to a greater moral principle rather that individual worth. (A good example that uses the same principle is the book "To Kill a Mockingbird". There's no way Atticus Finch was going to win that murder trial because society had already declared the man he was defending guilty the moment he was accused and the trial was, at that point, merely a formality. Nevertheless, he went through with it in spite of the social stigma he sustained because it was the right thing to do and he knew his client was innocent.)

when i was a kid sailor moon is one of my favorite cartoon but when i watch it my parents always ask me why am i watching a girl cartoon me as a kid i always wonder why

while watching sailor moon my dad ask me if im gay i told them no im not gay so my dad question me again why i watch a girl cartoon i just cant answer it no more. so after that i never watch sailor moon again or even finish it i was embarrassed so much! so i focused myself waching daimos and voltes v and gundam and after 30 years i search sailor moon again and found about this music. i fell in love with it since i love metal music and i got sailor moon metal music also! now my heart is about to burst of excitement since sailor moon is one of my favorite anime! im gonna play this music with all of my hearts content! PLAY THIS MUSIC AT FULL BLAST! AND START HEADBANGING! METAL! WILL NEVER DIE! LONG LIVE SAILOR MOON!
had the same thing happen to me. except parents kept teasing me regardless until one night. I was able to overcome it thanks to an anime(don't remember name, something to do about defending tokyo) I borrowed from a friend in high school. Step mother comes down the stairs into my room saying " still watching those kid cartoons?" she then turns to the screen :scene of Nude mother floating in midair stabbing herself and pulling out a sword covered in blood: "yep kid cartoons" I said. The look on her face priceless :) she walked out and I never heard it again!

Imagine making a rated R live version of Sailor Moon and when ever a villain shows up or we see the villain Queen Beryl plotting in her evil lair. We give it that dark and gritty feel.
It would be hard to do. But if done right by the right director, producer and right writer with a complete story. Imagine if it matches with the anime version. But make it super dark with action.

I have a request (unless you've done this anime theme already and I'm just not aware of it): the main theme for Space Battleship Yamato (aka Star Blazers) along with the themes "White Comet" and "Great Love" from that series. I think those themes would sound great given your unique approach, especially "White Comet".
