I’m a hairdresser and get golfers elbow, I even struggle carrying a hand basket around the supermarket. Today its pretty sore so I’m going to try these tips! Thanks guys
Out of desperation I self-discovered the massage technique (after icing and heating) and incredibly after like 10 minutes or so I felt it dissolve away. Thank you for validating this and for all your other help!
4 years of weight training left me with a chronic golfer's elbow in my right elbow. Got checked by a doc and the scan showed my tendon quality wasn't that of a 23 year old anymore. Did a minimally invasive surgery its been 2-3 years after the surgery and no gym. That arm is no longer what it used to be and I cannot push it over 70% of it's capability without pain again. For the most things it doesn't bother me and I forget about it but If I overextend and put pressure on my elbow then the pain definitely reminds me to stop. Just learn to get along with it and do your sports at ease don't go crazy and make sure you don't overtrain.
@@Memento__Mori Yeah okay. It's pretty easy to injure yourself when you're just getting into something really physical. I knew a bloke that hadn't done much weight training or sports before and decided to jump on roids. He reckoned he felt unstoppable and just kept pushing way to hard. Problem is your tendons just can't keep up with the pace of your muscle growth on gear. Afew years down the track and his joints are like that of a sixty year old with tears and strains and cant lift more than a cup of tea without feeling a twang. Poor, silly bastard.
@@swansong5960 Yes that it absolutely true, I was around 16 when I started hitting the gym, my problem was the ego and the strength I gained in a short period of time. I felt unstoppable during my workouts and trained 6 to 7 times a week. Basically bodybuilding schedule for a beginner gym goer...I learned the hard way, at least now I do my best to warn others of these things :)
have a theragun at home, tried this out and the pain has almost gone away completely , i was even able to do a weights session with little to no pain on exercises i would usually have issues with - thanks so much
I was JUST hoping you'd put out one of these. I tighten oil filters all day. Grip, tighten, TWIST HARD and now the inside of my elbow is ANGRY. Thanks for doing what you do!
So timely! I have been dealing with Golfer's Elbow for months. I'm embarrassed to say that I think mine is from holding my phone playing games on it. :/ I will use these techniques and look forward to ending this pain. FWIW, I did go to my PC on Monday to rule out any tears or such. I'm opting to do therapy at home with the exercises she gave me and what you've shared here rather than get a steroid injection. :)
You guys are the absolute BEST. Because of your videos I’ve been able to run again when I thought my Achilles’ tendons were shot, you’ve helped me recover from knee pain, and with this video I’ve been able to do pull ups again. Thank you guys so much. LOVE you guys.
I've had tennis elbow several times but golfers elbow is a first for me. Not sure how I got it but I do a lot of dirt motorcycling (and not easy stuff!) and it's been an issue for the last couple of months. Doesn't effect my riding but I can feel it when I do my rowing exercises. So I'm, giving your treatments a go Bob and Brad. It already feels a bit better after just a few minutes of massage. Thanks heaps and I'll let you know how I go.
Thank you Both are a Blessing have that problem also affects my wrist. I can't Bend it forward or backwards has lots of pain but messaging muscles & icing it : both elbow & wrist helps. Guess it will get better over more time, just got to keep doing it. Thank you Both.
Thanks for the massage techniques. I teach Golf Fitness and we focus on stretches to ease/prevent golfer's elbow and now I can share this too. Thanks Boys!
I've been suffering with medial epicondylitis for about 4 months now. It had been bothersome for about a month or so, I fell and jammed the elbow in the fall, I've been miserable. When I fell, I broke my patella too and that didn't hurt like this elbow hurts. Tyvm for the tips, I will do these.
I have had golfer’s elbow. I would say a daily combination of heat and ice but also total rest from whatever action caused the pain. For me, it was chin ups. I no longer do them. After about two months of rest from elbow strain I still had a bit of pain so I asked for a cortisone shot. That cleared up that last little bit of pain and I gave it another one week. This injury can really screw up your exercise routine because of how critical your elbows are. I totally switched to core exercises for those two months so all was not lost.
RSI (maybe tendonitis) from keyboard typing, I cant find any videos from you. Are the exercises in this video going to work for RSI? Is RSI from keyboard the same as tennis elbow
My elbow doesn't hurt to the touch, at all... but hurts near that spot when I do pressing exercises, or sometimes, even pulling, like pull-ups. Not sure if it's "golfer's elbow" or some kind of tendonitis. It's not too awful and I've had this for months and have been able to work around it - - shifting the angle of my arm in exercises can help, but it doesn't go away...
The last two fingers (ring and pinky - especially the ring finger)muscles going through the forearm seem most tied into the attachment that causes pain, so when doing pull-ups (and wide grip is better than narrow), I try to keep those fingers relaxed, or even sticking out -- it helps a little; enough to be able to keep working out. The problem hasn't gone away for me, but may have eased up a little. I also don't worry about getting my chin over the bar(to avoid cheating up with more arm/forearm assistance), since the lower half of the exercise is the more effective part, anyway... and I try to keep arm bending in pull-ups to a minimum... mentally approaching it with a pull-over(that sort of half-circular motion) in mind, even if it's still a pull-up. It all helps a bit...The pain is less noticeable now in pressing, maybe due to the changed way of pulling?
Help! Some thing seems tight between my tricep and bicep that goes down to that funny bone. Is that normal. When I touch it I can feel tingling all the way to my pinky. All other symptoms are normal My golfers elbow has come and go for a few years. Flairs up from boxing. I have had some trama to my elbow in years past. Really appreciate what you guys do!
My pain isn't on either side of my elbow necessarily, not on the inside like golfers elbow, and not on the outside like tennis elbow. It hurts more at the tip of my elbow. I ended up hyperextending it a couple weeks ago and, while it has gotten a bit better, it still hurts extremely bad if I barely end up tapping it on something, if I try to flex my bicep, if I try to do a pull up, and if I try to throw with a sidearm motion (i play disc golf). Any idea what is wrong and what i can do? P.S. Yall helped me cure my plantar fasciitis in my feet 😁, i love yalls videos ❤️.
Ok but what about those of us who only mini-putt? Yes that is a joke, I live next to a golf club and even figured out it's FORE, meaning ahead they say this summer and not FOUR! I never cease to amaze myself!
This reminds me of a story! I fell, smashed my bad knee, hit my chest! Picking up my bike 🚲 to store higher in trailer 2 weeks later, I sprained my sore chest, man it hurts to move and I keep losing my sneezes for fear 😱 of sneezing, ooowww!
Hi great informative video. I need to know should I start with the ice pack or should I massage my golfers elbow first. I also have a tennis elbow and problems with my shoulder after 2 operations. Hope to hear from you. All the best
Hi doc ! Due to knee injury I have got a Leg cast. It is on my full leg except ankle. Ny problem is despite my ankle being free I am not able to move my toes.I feel tingling and numbness also. Should I be concerned ??
I believe that I've had the pain because of holding my (brick of a) phone that weighs about 200gm for long stretches of time. Also it sometime stretches from my shoulder to my ring and little fingers and sometimes the neck. I think you'll need to consider cases such as these as well when making these videos 😅. Bdw thanks for your help.. will definitely try it out 🙏🏻😇
Maybe what I’m experiencing is something different, tricep tendinitis maybe. Because my pain isn’t secluded to just the inside and outside of the elbow but both sides and the back of my elbow where the tricep connects to the elbow joint. My elbow joints are so burnt .
I got tennis elbow when starting up tennis would you believe..😊 I no longer do tennis.. and am now fine also deciding tennis wasn't for me chasing tennis balls, like watching it though..
I like that cold pad, where do I get it from ? I have a frozen shoulder and when used too much to do my work it feels inflamed or tired. I use iced pad but this black I like 👍
I play pickleball and am right handed. My golfer's elbow is on my left side. I've had this pain for 2-3 months now. I have been seeing an accupuncturist to treat this pain and he tells me tendons take much longer to heal. I just don't understand why my left elbow hurts when I am right handed? Is it from doing something else?
To be honest I don't feel like this is good advice. Ice is an old school method of treatment. For me starting with isometrics was significantly more effective in reducing the initial pain. Do this once w day till the pain dies down and you can move your arm normally with no pain. From here it should be a mix of exercises and stretching. I recommend only doing strength training every other day and do stretching on the off days. Start with very little and don't make big jumps. If you feel good doing 1 pound don't jump to 3 pounds. It just doesn't work like that. The key is NOT to overload the tendon or you'll regress to an earlier stage. In my experience if you do the exercises at night and feel pain for more than half of the day after you did too much and should back off on the intensity. Be patient. This injury sucks but you'll just prolong your recovery if you're too aggressive.

beware that you don't freeze your ulnar nerve! it is very superficial on the medial elbow!
