    😊thank you El Paso!! After listening to over a dozen videos, you are the first one that covered the pain extending down through the hand and fingers. You are appreciated!! Thank you so much.. I am taking time to rest my arm for a couple days to give the area a break…. The pain was over a 10. After 24 hours of rest, I can already feel the pain to an 8. I can start strengthening by tomorrow.

    This is great, I’m an Armwrestler that has recently been blighted with duel tennis elbow. The concept of imbalance of internal/external forearm muscle couldn’t be truer with armwrestlers. Even though (pre condition) I try to stay balanced with stability exercises, it’s VERY difficult when the aim of the sport is to gain massive cupping and pronation strength.

    • @jamesstatham
      @jamesstatham Год назад

      But what should I do when my grip strength (pre condition), was world class, grip strength isn’t the problem (for me), even using ten percent of power results in pain. So what if the strength is already there, you just can’t use it?

  • @NamesAreRandom
    @NamesAreRandom 5 месяцев назад +1

    I agree with everything he said, but there is more you can do. There's a bunch of videos that show how to adjust the elbow which gives the inflamed area's a temporary break - some sort of band around the elbow, you tension the band by with a straight arm pulling it into your side with the other arm and then do some gentle squeezes. Lots of videos on youtube show this, just don't overdo it and irritate it by over adjusting.
    The other thing is it's not generally the muscles in the middle of your forearm that need strengthening, it's the muscles towards the edges - you can test and it's probably straightening the ring and pinky that hurt the most so it's the muscles on the other side of that you need to strengthen. Those grip strengtheners will generally mostly strengthen the middle. They also work the back of the forearms as well as fist has to be held cocked back when you squeeze so will irritate tennis elbow. Custom excercises that strengthen the muscles on the inside only and towards the sides are better.

    This is very helpful. I've been struggling with tennis elbow for months, doing hand/wrist therapy exercises, even tried laser but only got a couple days of relief at a time and as soon as I resume activity the pain comes back. It's so bad now that it DOES affect my shoulder/neck as well as my wrist. I think it's irritated the radial nerve you spoke about. I guess that means I'm not ready to start strengthening yet. I wish I'd seen this video before I wasted so much time on therapy exercises that were doing nothing for me. My chiropractor recommended I used a cervical decompression neck stretcher?? So what do I do now? Do you have any info on treating the radial nerve so I can get to the strengthening part and finally get some relief? It's my dominant arm so that makes resting it SO much harder

    10 years ago, I had to have my wrist joint removed (long story). The past 15-18 months, I have had tennis elbow flare ups. I have had x-rays & MRI with moderate damage. Bc of my previous surgery, I do not have the same motion as my other wrist. It will always be weaker than my other wrist too. I also have had cortisone injections. The drs said i am only allowed 3 injections bc of the area (it's considered a double injection). Does this sound right? Any suggestions? Should I do the squeeze machine also?

    Hurt my elbow using a very powerful drill by using my right arm as the clutch drilling a thick lag bolt into a wall. Let the drill move my right elbow up when the screw bottomed out.
    I don’t think my issue was because of one muscle being stronger than the other.
    Wondering what exercise would be best. Still having pain after 3 months.
    I do work out 3 days a week - hoping I don’t have to stop.

    Hi Dr. David, when I do the grip strengthener, is it wrong to change arm position when i do it? I do it with a straight arm and a bent arm. But i notice I’m still having tennis elbow. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m doing straight arm and bent arm, or if it’s because my grip strength still isn’t strong enough.

      Hey Marcia! We are sorry to hear that you've been dealing with tennis elbow. Unfortunately, we don't have a specific playlist on Golfer's elbow - as you mentioned the pain is present on the inside as opposed to the outside of the elbow when compared with Tennis elbow. However, you might be surprised to find that some of the exercises and tips we suggest for improving tennis elbow pain can also help with golfer's elbow, so don't hesitate to try the tips and info on this following playlist:

      Hey Joey! It depends on what level you are at with your elbow. You can try squeezing the stress ball and see if it makes anything better or worse. If better then keep going, if worse then you may not be ready for it yet.

After one day of using the tennis ball I woke up for the first time with no stiffness in my elbow and the pain was so much less
