😊thank you El Paso!! After listening to over a dozen videos, you are the first one that covered the pain extending down through the hand and fingers. You are appreciated!! Thank you so much.. I am taking time to rest my arm for a couple days to give the area a break…. The pain was over a 10. After 24 hours of rest, I can already feel the pain to an 8. I can start strengthening by tomorrow.
I just had to click this because the way you’re explaining it all is spot on to exactly my situation ! Thank you so much for this helpful and informative video !! P.S I have that same gripper it has a counter 💯😊

Wow I find your information so clear, and interesting ..I play the piano and am desperate to fix my tennis elbow (right arm). What you have explained matches my problems. I will try and use grip balls instead of the grip gun you show as I have sore palms. Thank you for all your advice.
Excellent diagnosis and treatment plan, Im so greatful you articulated the mechanics of my symptoms and how the muscles, tendons and all those flexors work and the root causes of what is going on in my elbow, fofearms and fingers, Thank you

Hey Roxy, sorry to hear that you are having this issue. It happens often from overworking your muscles at the gym! Hopefully this video helps to get that elbow back to normal!
@@epmanualphysicaltherapymy arms are very strong, I once arm wrestled and it completely messed up both my tendons and I haven’t been able to workout in months
I'm in the same boat. I received a cortizone shot which helped for a couple of months but once it wore off the pain came back. Hopefully we both get better soon.
This is great, I’m an Armwrestler that has recently been blighted with duel tennis elbow. The concept of imbalance of internal/external forearm muscle couldn’t be truer with armwrestlers. Even though (pre condition) I try to stay balanced with stability exercises, it’s VERY difficult when the aim of the sport is to gain massive cupping and pronation strength.
But what should I do when my grip strength (pre condition), was world class, grip strength isn’t the problem (for me), even using ten percent of power results in pain. So what if the strength is already there, you just can’t use it?
Thank you for the very helpful explanation. I have this & it hurts soooo bad, I am up at almost 3am in near tears from the pain... It hurts just to pick up a bottle of water to drink or turn over in bed, much less mow the lawn. I am in such excruciating pain with this!

I agree with everything he said, but there is more you can do. There's a bunch of videos that show how to adjust the elbow which gives the inflamed area's a temporary break - some sort of band around the elbow, you tension the band by with a straight arm pulling it into your side with the other arm and then do some gentle squeezes. Lots of videos on youtube show this, just don't overdo it and irritate it by over adjusting. The other thing is it's not generally the muscles in the middle of your forearm that need strengthening, it's the muscles towards the edges - you can test and it's probably straightening the ring and pinky that hurt the most so it's the muscles on the other side of that you need to strengthen. Those grip strengtheners will generally mostly strengthen the middle. They also work the back of the forearms as well as fist has to be held cocked back when you squeeze so will irritate tennis elbow. Custom excercises that strengthen the muscles on the inside only and towards the sides are better.

Thank you for the great information! One question, we were told to rest our elbow, rest our arm.....so......when can we start doing those exercises that you were showing us at almost the end of your video?
Hi Lucy, you are welcome! You can start doing the exercises when you feel that area isn't as inflamed. It's important not to work through any pain. Please do not start at full intensity. Start gently and you can increase the intensity when you feel stronger. We have a tennis elbow help playlist you might find helpful. This is very helpful. I've been struggling with tennis elbow for months, doing hand/wrist therapy exercises, even tried laser but only got a couple days of relief at a time and as soon as I resume activity the pain comes back. It's so bad now that it DOES affect my shoulder/neck as well as my wrist. I think it's irritated the radial nerve you spoke about. I guess that means I'm not ready to start strengthening yet. I wish I'd seen this video before I wasted so much time on therapy exercises that were doing nothing for me. My chiropractor recommended I used a cervical decompression neck stretcher?? So what do I do now? Do you have any info on treating the radial nerve so I can get to the strengthening part and finally get some relief? It's my dominant arm so that makes resting it SO much harder
You have a few on Tennis elbow, but what about the other side? Golfers elbow? I had Tennis Elbow for a while from shovelling snow that lasted a few months. It's better now but I have it on the inside of the elbow now.
What are your thoughts about using the Taylor Twist exercises (with the rubber bar) to address tennis (and golfers) elbow? The equipment is quite inexpensive and supposedly it has a high success rate…
Hey Jody! It's difficult for us to answer that specifically for you as we don't have any information on your diagnosis but generally speaking the treatment is sometimes very similar to that of tennis elbow. Here are some exercises that you can consider doing that might provide you some relief: "BEST 3 Exercises For Long Term Tennis Elbow Pain Relief" ruclips.net/video/f-DxVIk6_Wk/видео.htmlfeature=shared We hope this helps! 🙌
As a Polio survivor and cane user, it seems that my grip strength is beyond the ordinary. Could my tennis elbow symptoms be more from overuse of my dominant arm?
This is a well known and discussed issue with rock climbing beginners and it's 100% the imbalance thing. Resistance training for opening your hand (bucket of rice or sand) solves it.
Thanks for all this USEFUL and HELPFUL news and info. I was just diagnosed with TENNIS ELBOW. The funny thing they said its from texting. LMAO!! I hope I don't have any ARTHRITIS at all that stuff scares me deeply. I don't have any pain down my arm or in my hand at all but I do in my forearm. I can make a fist on somedays. I do want and wish this (SHIT) to just go away and fast. I HATE it big time.

Hey Deb, we are so sorry to hear you've been dealing with golfers elbow pain :-( Most elbow issues, including golfers elbow commonly stem from a grip strength issue, which leads to a muscle imbalance. Here are a couple of videos that could help! Check them out: "Use THIS To Help Elbow Pain " ruclips.net/user/shorts2Tdq6--TKAQ "Grip Strengthener For Elbow, Wrist, & Hand Problems - Honest Physical Therapist Review" ruclips.net/video/_AK-4mjvpEQ/видео.html Hope this helps! Tell your son he is welcome to stop by and say hello! All the best
Thank you for this video. I am 64 and have pain in both elbows and wrists, due to weight lifting, for four months now. A joint specialist didn't think it was due to arthritis or tendonitis, but worn-out joints due to old age. I've been using ice, ibuprofen, some rest and much lighter weights, but the still pain comes and goes. At my age, how much can I hope my wrists and elbows will return to normal?
im in same situation you are, except its only my right elbow, I think doing the grip strength exercises he mentions here should help as the forearm is probably the weak muscle that is contributing to the imbalance. i bought one of those old school hand grips you can find at a thrift store or big five and started doing these exercises every hour like the Dr. suggested.
Ive been lifting weights for years without any problems, recently i took up golf and have this pain start in the outside of my forearm just below the elbow. It gets worse when I grip things etc, haven't had it looked at but im certain its tennis elbow
Hey Damon! So sorry to hear about your forearm pain! You might be dealing with some elbow issues here. Here is a playlist with all of our content on tennis elbow you might want to look at: "Tennis Elbow Help" ruclips.net/p/PLJVIPiFvv1mZtBf8cey3q3K-lFvhezlxM
The pain in my elbow is on the inside of the elbow. Unless I’m missing something your video seems to say tennis elbow is on the outside of the elbow. So I’m unsure if the exercises you recommend will help in that case or make it worse. Help please! Could you clarify.
I have a question my husband has terrible pain it’s as you described, he is a driver, he uses ice, and a copper fit elbow band, but pain still persists any suggestions? Thank you
Hurt my elbow using a very powerful drill by using my right arm as the clutch drilling a thick lag bolt into a wall. Let the drill move my right elbow up when the screw bottomed out. I don’t think my issue was because of one muscle being stronger than the other. Wondering what exercise would be best. Still having pain after 3 months. I do work out 3 days a week - hoping I don’t have to stop.
How do you know if its tennis elbow or radial tunnel or supinator 😮 my pain is 2 weeks now when picking up - def from hammer curls at the gym. But the pain is definitely more in the upper forearm, not the area new to elbow.

My issue is, I have tennis elbow and trigger finger also, so grip strengthening devices are gonna be more difficult for me. Can you recommend something for me please?
my pointy bone sticks out on one side and not the other as mentioned in the first few minutes. It gets very pnfull thre like if thre was a crack threre type of pain. ouch.
Is that the reason I get weird sometimes mildly painful pops when I do reverse curls on my left hand which has tenis elbow ??? And will it get better if I train the inside muscles of the forearm ??
I had tried all those stretches that physio’s suggested, I had such bad pain in the elbow, and in the mornings my elbow was so stiff and sore, I saw this video, I stared squeezing a tennis ball while I was waiting for my grip strengthener to arrive. After one day of using the tennis ball I woke up for the first time with no stiffness in my elbow and the pain was so much less
Dr David, my issue is I have a growth there but not painful since hitting a bucket of golf balls for the first time in 20 yrs and can’t find anything online on how to reduce and make go away. Any idea pls?!

Hey Jessie! We are so sorry to hear that you've been dealing with pain due to tennis elbow and that your work did not allow you to get the necessary even though you were told to do so. 10 years ago, I had to have my wrist joint removed (long story). The past 15-18 months, I have had tennis elbow flare ups. I have had x-rays & MRI with moderate damage. Bc of my previous surgery, I do not have the same motion as my other wrist. It will always be weaker than my other wrist too. I also have had cortisone injections. The drs said i am only allowed 3 injections bc of the area (it's considered a double injection). Does this sound right? Any suggestions? Should I do the squeeze machine also?
Hi Tony, thanks for letting us know the link is missing! It has now been added to the description and here is the link for you as well: Grip Measurement Dynamometer by Handeful (Amazon) - amzn.to/3C24gHL Have a great day!
Hey Marcia! We are sorry to hear that you've been dealing with tennis elbow. Unfortunately, we don't have a specific playlist on Golfer's elbow - as you mentioned the pain is present on the inside as opposed to the outside of the elbow when compared with Tennis elbow. However, you might be surprised to find that some of the exercises and tips we suggest for improving tennis elbow pain can also help with golfer's elbow, so don't hesitate to try the tips and info on this following playlist: "Tennis Elbow Help" ruclips.net/p/PLJVIPiFvv1mZtBf8cey3q3K-lFvhezlxM We wish you the best on the road to recovery! 🙌
Hi Dr. David, when I do the grip strengthener, is it wrong to change arm position when i do it? I do it with a straight arm and a bent arm. But i notice I’m still having tennis elbow. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m doing straight arm and bent arm, or if it’s because my grip strength still isn’t strong enough.
Hey @reeco355 👋! We are sorry to hear that you are still dealing with elbow pain even after resting for days. Don't be discouraged! You might just have to adjust (decrease) the volume and/or intensity that you're currently at with the gripping exercises. In fact, we have a video that explains this more in detail. You can access that video here - skip to 1:30: "BEST 3 Exercises For Long Term Tennis Elbow Pain Relief" ruclips.net/video/f-DxVIk6_Wk/видео.htmlfeature=shared We also have a whole playlist for you on Tennis Elbow: "Tennis Elbow Help" ruclips.net/p/PLJVIPiFvv1mZtBf8cey3q3K-lFvhezlxM We are wishing you the best on the road to recovery! 🙌
Hey Joey! It depends on what level you are at with your elbow. You can try squeezing the stress ball and see if it makes anything better or worse. If better then keep going, if worse then you may not be ready for it yet.

Very informative!! Thank you so much!!!
Hi Lana, You are very welcome. Thank you for the kind words! We hope you feel some relief. 🌟
You have a few on Tennis elbow, but what about the other side? Golfers elbow? I had Tennis Elbow for a while from shovelling snow that lasted a few months. It's better now but I have it on the inside of the elbow now.
also handshaking. that one makes me nervous when I'm socializing
I was told to rest but because I was still at work, my work restrictions were not being followed due to the accommodations at work
What are your thoughts about using the Taylor Twist exercises (with the rubber bar) to address tennis (and golfers) elbow? The equipment is quite inexpensive and supposedly it has a high success rate…
This was a fantastic video. What is treatment for medial epichondylitis?
Hey Jody! It's difficult for us to answer that specifically for you as we don't have any information on your diagnosis but generally speaking the treatment is sometimes very similar to that of tennis elbow.
Here are some exercises that you can consider doing that might provide you some relief:

As a Polio survivor and cane user, it seems that my grip strength is beyond the ordinary. Could my tennis elbow symptoms be more from overuse of my dominant arm?
Brilliant 💪🏼
This is a well known and discussed issue with rock climbing beginners and it's 100% the imbalance thing. Resistance training for opening your hand (bucket of rice or sand) solves it.
Thank you for this🙌🏻
Where are the links for the grip-mometer & grip strengthtener…thank you 🙏🏼

Thanks for all this USEFUL and HELPFUL news and info. I was just diagnosed with TENNIS ELBOW. The funny thing they said its from texting. LMAO!! I hope I don't have any ARTHRITIS at all that stuff scares me deeply. I don't have any pain down my arm or in my hand at all but I do in my forearm. I can make a fist on somedays. I do want and wish this (SHIT) to just go away and fast. I HATE it big time.

I have golfers elbow….any videos on that one? I am in Boston but my son is in El Paso! I’ll tell him about you!
Hey Deb, we are so sorry to hear you've been dealing with golfers elbow pain :-(
Most elbow issues, including golfers elbow commonly stem from a grip strength issue, which leads to a muscle imbalance.
Here are a couple of videos that could help! Check them out:

It hurts like hell.
Is this excercise ok to do if the pain is in your wrist.?
My pain was from my neck to the elbow & I have osteoarthritis in my left arm and elbow in the joint
Good info, thank you.
Hey Preemo! You are very welcome! Glad you found our information useful!
At my age, how much can I hope my wrists and elbows will return to normal?
im in same situation you are, except its only my right elbow, I think doing the grip strength exercises he mentions here should help as the forearm is probably the weak muscle that is contributing to the imbalance. i bought one of those old school hand grips you can find at a thrift store or big five and started doing these exercises every hour like the Dr. suggested.
@@IRONTOSS Thank you!
Thanks it was helpful, how long do you need to rest with tennis elbow before starting the exercises?
Hi Jean! 👋 You will rest until any pain or discomfort subsides and then you can start the exercises. 😃
Sir Exllent treatment, please speak in simple tricks English
Ive been lifting weights for years without any problems, recently i took up golf and have this pain start in the outside of my forearm just below the elbow. It gets worse when I grip things etc, haven't had it looked at but im certain its tennis elbow

Thanks!

This doesnt work for me as squeezing my grip intensifies the pain in the elbow
I have pain both outer and inner elbow.
If this is caused by gripping and over use, how is using the hand exerciser not making it worse?
Hi Sandy, tennis elbow is caused when there is a shift in the alignment of the humerus bone not from gripping.

I have that pain what can I do
10 years ago, I had to have my wrist joint removed (long story).
I very much dislike when someone says they will have a link to product below, but there is no link. Hand grip Dynometer.😢😢

Do you have any info on golfers elbow? My pain is on the inside elbow
Hey Marcia! We are sorry to hear that you've been dealing with tennis elbow. Unfortunately, we don't have a specific playlist on Golfer's elbow - as you mentioned the pain is present on the inside as opposed to the outside of the elbow when compared with Tennis elbow. However, you might be surprised to find that some of the exercises and tips we suggest for improving tennis elbow pain can also help with golfer's elbow, so don't hesitate to try the tips and info on this following playlist:

I get sharp throbbing pain inside elbow- not outside
Hi Dr. David, when I do the grip strengthener, is it wrong to change arm position when i do it? I do it with a straight arm and a bent arm. But i notice I’m still having tennis elbow. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m doing straight arm and bent arm, or if it’s because my grip strength still isn’t strong enough.
when i type top of wrist starts hurting too.
Problem is, forearm/elbow hurts when doing the gripping exercises, even after resting the elbow for days …

Would starting off with squeezing a stress ball work?
Hey Joey! It depends on what level you are at with your elbow. You can try squeezing the stress ball and see if it makes anything better or worse. If better then keep going, if worse then you may not be ready for it yet.
@@epmanualphysicaltherapy appreciate it, thank you for your speedy response! Happy Holidays
