The "Self crucified..." part refers to Odin and the tales about how he torn out one of his eyes and how he made a sacrifice to himself, by hanging for nine nights on Yggdrasil - the tree of life and a centre to the cosmos in norse mythology - in return for wisdom. So "missed the right tree" and "tore the wrong eye out" means somenthing like "I sacrificed myself, my time on this earth, my sanity, etc., I endured so much pain and suffered so much, but still failed do gain wisdom. I failed to learn what this all means".
Also itchy fingers in polish means to be eager to do something. "The gods are bored with peace in our hearts" so their fingers are itchy, they are eager to mingle in them, to confuse us and stray us further from the answers we seek. "As if we never broke people out of sheer boredom" personifies the higher power, the gods. It just says that those "gods" - the symbol of higher cosmic power - act like people, who sometimes hurt other for trivial reasons, like f.ex. just for fun. After that, "gods" show no remorse and do it over again, not seeing fault in their own cruelty, making us - seeking for a meaning - more and more miserable .

There's also an error in the lyrics in the video which always made me confused until I found the correct line. "As if would be someone better, spelling purgatory in latin alphabet" should actually be "As if we would be someone better, EXPELLING purgatory in latin alphabet", meaning that we think we'd be better persons if we simply forgive everyone (letting them leave Purgatory in alphabetical order) no matter if they deserved it (purged themselves of past sins) or not.

I see missed the right tree and tore the wrong eye as saying one small mistake could lead to you losing it all everything you struggled for. One slightly different, wrong step or unforseen variable at play could lead to an unwanted outcome. Another footnote in the handbook for exercises in futility.

Maybe by tearing out an eye and self crucifying one gets the opposite of infinite wisdom and becomes ultimately ignorant, thus loosing the burden of knowledge, becoming free of it, becoming happier

Best band in the newest wave of Black Metal (imo). Completely awesome and breathtaking. Darkside makes a superb work in his kit, his dexterity with the cymbals is quite unique. The band's lyrics are also a peculiar point, mixing a mature nihilism with some metaphoric narrative "backgrounded" with Greek (and others) Mythology(ies). Monolithic riffs by mister M. complete the astonishing opus of these Poles.

Well, that's a surprise. Great band. Didn't expect to see them here tbh. lol I believe they are Polish black metal. Dissonance is a part of the sound of black metal so thats why sometimes seems off time and...weird. The music reflects the emotion. Tense, dark, other worldly sometimes. Other times incredibly serene. You'll hear the term "wall of sound" a lot with these bands and you can hear why.

Word "Mgła" itself mean "fog", and when it comes to the letter "ł/Ł" it is very characteristic, it's nowhere close to the letter "T". If you want to know how to pronounce it then use Google translate, choose Polish, paste word Mgła and listen ;) Cheers from Poland 🇵🇱

Nice to see rappers enjoying some good polish Black Metal. The lyrics tie up with the beginning of the album.
"The great truth is there isn't one
And it only gets worse since that conclusion"
The entire album explores nihilism and humanity's futile strive to create meaning through religion. It also points out the blatant hypocrisies, especially in part 5.
    "Blessed be the tailors
The masks are cut to fit
    Blessed be the woodworkers

Please, PLEASE, do songs 1 through 5! This was such a thought provoking reaction. I loved it and I hadn't heard of the band before.
The genre is close to traditional Black Metal but there are a lot of elements common to Post-Black Metal too. Post-Black Metal is a relatively new genre. I don't know how to describe it well enough, perhaps someone else can.
I HIGHLY recommend exploring tracks from both Black Metal and Post-Black Metal. There are layers of cultural, religious, spiritual, historical, and sonic relevance which almost no people other than a relatively small subset of metalheads go down the path of exploring. Yet these two genres are unbelievably rich in meaning and are very underappreciated and misunderstood. You go down the Black Metal path and pay close attention, you'll find representations of the beautiful ancient darkness that lives within all of us; not as a celebration, but as a recognition. Black Metal is like peering into your own depths where it is the most stark and cold, the bitter frozen wastelands of your soul, and then coming back out with a deeper understanding of what connects us all.
You will discover what is called "corpse paint", it's the black and white make-up which looks very grim and necro. It will remind you of the band Kiss but it's far more meaningful. Corpse paint is meant to worn as a representation of your own inner demon as the wearer see them self The pattern of black and white is meant to be created by the individual while truly contemplating what their darkest and most stark inner demon looks like to them, as a representation worn on the skin instead of being acted out in the world against others. Symbolically, it's a form of recognizing and bearing your own ugliness openly for all to see and as a representation of the ugliness we all carry, forcing us to see what we sometimes wish to avoid seeing.
Yeah, the traditions of Black Metal run SUPER deep. Sometimes bands can get really campy or take themselves too seriously, but there is a lot of meaning and truth in the best examples. It is very dark lyrically and thematically, and the music is meant to sound stark, cold, bitter, empty. It's made this way intentionally in order to create these feelings.
I would really love and appreciate Black Metal being explored by others who might be the least likely to discover or explore the genre. A lot of good for the world would come of it.

I like that you point out how the lyrics don't often rhyme. That's pretty common in metal, and in my opinion, I think rhyming lyrics make harsh vocals sound odd. Rhyming also tends to make phrases more catchy which is not something that nihilistic black metal is concerned with.

The "Wrong eye, missed tree" is a norse mythology reference in which Odin impales himself on a tree and tears out his eye to gain the knowledge of the runes. in way the song has this idea that they went for knowledge and gained nothing possibly losing much.

When you say that the drums aren't on beat with the guitars - they are, the drummer is just playing blast beats, where the snare doesn't fall on the "conventional" beat. I'm not a drummer so there's probably someone else who can explain more into detail...

They're Polish so I don't know what the letter is called in their language but it's not an l or a t but all together they say their name like Mgwah. Kinda like a mogwai from gremlins but without the O and with an AH instead of an I. But I believe it means fog or the fog or foggy. Something like that I think. I don't know exactly I don't speak Polish. But if you're looking into black metal you have got to give a listen to Cradle of Filth. They are the go to band for black metal they became the biggest or at least most well known in the genre. I suggest their most famous song to start with "Her Ghost in the Fog" then my favorite "A Thousand Hands on the Maid of Ruin" which is an instrumental.

The out-of-joint drumming of Mgla comes from Darkside doing melodic fills, mainly on cymbals. Playing melodies on drums isn't *that* new, but Darkside's way of playing rhytm parts with his feet at the same time is what really sets him apart!
