    Returned mine as the speaker let out a buzzer noise when paired and the large helmet size was too small. It looked nice but meh I went with the Sena Impluse.

    I did solve the problem on the modular hard to open and close I sprayed it with some silicone grease works like a charm ! the sunshade spray also goes down a lot easier just push it up with your fingers and use the switch to put it down! Problem solved ! Don’t be afraid to spray the shit out of it every there is a moving part I did use the spray straw to get into hard places !

    Both of my previous modular helmets - Nolan and HJC - had the same problem after a few months and had to be slammed shut in order to latch. It's something you learn to accept and get used to doing. I went on to wear both for about 5 years each before retiring them ...Just sayin'.

      @@MOTOBLADE ...As a matter of fact, I'm still wearing the HJC. It's an IS Max 2. I do have to slam it shut, but I'm really proficient at it and don't even have to think about it. The helmet is in great shape too, except for the cheek pads, which are starting to get a bit bedraggled due to razor stubble from my habit of going 2-3 days between shaves. And since the pads are now unavailable in my size, I'm doing research on a replacement helmet, which brought me to your video. Thanks for the great review. Unfortunately, I also dropped the helmet a week ago and destroyed my trusty Sena 10S that was purchased in 2016, so I've also got to make a decision on a new communicator. Everything has evolved exponentially in that time, and all this is starting to boggle my tired old mind. LOL!
      Cheers!

    I'm confused. You don't think this helmet is worth it in the review, but then the description says you use this "AWESOME helmet" as part of your gear and includes a link to purchase it. On top of that, you've got a few pictures of you wearing an ILM helmet (maybe not the 953 modular). Did something change for you that I'm missing? Legitimate question. I'm doing research on helmets with integrated BT speaker/comm systems and this was on my radar.

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE  3 месяца назад +1

      Your confusion with the “awesome” designator in the description is accurate. I recently had a technical guru do some SEO and description work on my videos. I am still double checking his work. Lots of videos to go through. I have changed the wording to the description in that area. Thank you for letting me know!
      The other videos of me in this helmet were prior to this, and my very early videos on my channel featured me in another ILM helmet (my first helmet I bought when I started riding).
      I include the link in case people do wish to purchase the helmet. Many have chosen to do so, even though this is not a helmet I would recommend personally, as stated in the video. People still like the affordability so I provide the links and they are free to make their choice.
      This video was posted 2 years ago. In the time since then I use an ECE22.06 approved very safe helmet that I also have a full review on my channel for. It’s a Ruroc Atlas 4.0. It was pricey but I wanted something safe and their safety and comfort information is why I decided to try them. I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit. Hopefully I never have to test the safety features of it first hand.
      Back to this helmet in this video - I would not recommend it. I would recommend something with an ece22.06 rating or snell rating. Hope that helps.

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE  3 месяца назад +1

      Ah I missed your comment about the Bluetooth comms. The Ruroc atlas 4.0 has its own built in wiring and spot in the back for their speaker system. It does cost extra but then there’s nothing hanging on the side of the helmet.
      Cardo talk packs also offer good audio quality for other helmets that you can install yourself.

    • @xMaticusfinchx
      @xMaticusfinchx 3 месяца назад +1

      @@MOTOBLADE I appreciate the quick reply on such an old video. Thanks for the clarification and reassurance that I'm not losing my mind. Funny you should mention the atlas 4.0. I was just looking at it and the EOX. How does their sound system compare to some of the other brands like Sena, Cardo, and Freecom? Would you say pretty comparable? Is there a brand or specific device that stands out to you as having the best quality for both music and voice? The more speaker systems I use, the more I get the feeling motorcycle sound quality just isn't the greatest. I'm still not the most educated on the matter, though.

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE  3 месяца назад +1

      @@xMaticusfinchx Cardo is the best audio in my opinion (they have JBL speakers in some models which provides nice sound).
      Ruroc's built in system is second and Sena a close third. I have nothing to back that statement up, other than personal opinion on what I thought sounded best to me. I have never tried Freecom sets so I can't comment on those.
      For audio now, I always use the sound system built into my Indian. I only use the headset when I'm on the little Harley with no speakers (and it's so loud I need earplugs anyway 🤣).

    I love the modularity of the helmet. Overall my experience riding 2 yrs with this helmet in all weather conditions hasn't been too bad. The quality is not the best though. Mine has a few issues with parts that have just fallen off lol. The windshield lost the spring to lock mechanism so when I put it up all the way it comes lose while riding. The chin curtain broke and fell off. I had to modify a charger cord to go further into the port to get a good charge. The bluetooth system will only play music or gps not both simultaneously. Also overall the bluetooth is wonky and hard to use when changing through functions. Honestly I'm planning on buying a another helmet and having this one for a backup. Definitely will not buy another ilm for the riding I do. Maybe it's better for someone that rides less. Im in an mc and ride hard and fast for long periods. 80-110 for hrs at a time. The wind the helmet catches definitely beats up your upper body when you have no fairing.

      My plan is to buy the new Ruroc Atlas 4.0. Quiet, good safety rating with e.c.e., and lots of nice features. But it is a full-face helmet. For modular, my recommendation would be Shoei NeoTec II. It's a bit pricier, but I guarantee you'll be happier with it. You'll get what you pay for. If you're looking for Modular, I'd recommend the Shoei NeoTec II. It has a SENA bluetooth headset (available separately) that is made just for that helmet. Major drawback is the price. If I remember correctly it's around $700 for the helmet only. Unfortunately that's what you're looking at for a good modular. I've heard shark helmets is also a possibility, but I have not researched any of their products so I don't know enough to guide you there.

  • @joec2078
    @joec2078 9 месяцев назад

    If you are critiquing the front vent because you don't feel the air flow on your face, that's because that vent is a defogger for which mine works great. When I ride in the morning to work and the temperature is low up here in Canada, especially on a spring or fall day, the visor tends to fog up when stopped but as soon as I'm up to about 20 km/h, the fogging is gone.
    I've done 15,000 km (over three seasons) with that helmet and my inner visor still functions flawlessly. I've also never had an issue in the rain. Regarding the cover to the battery in the back, that plastic tab doesn't go in like that (what I'll call horizontally). Instead it tucks further in vertically.
    I'm glad I watched this because I thought that the removable piece under the chin had to do with preventing the visor from fogging. I didn't realize it was to reduce noise which is my biggest complaint with the helmet. Noise and I 100% agree on the audio volume when listening to music. I also have a Spotify playlist and with both the helmet and phone max volume, it is still difficult to hear at highway speeds. Too much wind noise. So I'll put that piece back in for next season and I think I might also buy a neck cushion.
    As for the audio controls. I wish it had a previous/next song. It can pick up and hang up calls (even picking up calls automatically after 15 seconds I think). It can tune into local radio stations (not that I actually use that). It can connect with other helmets. You can even pause/resume. So the controls have every possible combo except next/previous song. I should mention that my helmet's battery will last anywhere between 8 and 10 hours.
    I can't really comment on the latch for the modular since I really don't use that function (I think I did one time).
    I don't have an issue with the chin strap slipping.
    Still, to say that this isn't worth 200 (I paid 300 CAD), seriously? I've been looking at reviews of smart helmets and they all have half the features for at least double the cost.

    FINALLY someone actually wears the helmet for a review! Thanks. Do you have issue with glasses fogging when in full face mode?

      Yes I do, if the temperature is below 50. Above that temp, no problem. I would recommend a pinlock visor if you're going to be operating in a cooler environment.

      I've seen that. While I'm not a fan of the helmet, the backlight does look pretty cool.
