    Excellent video, great to see the watch being treated with care and given a second chance at life!
    Just a couple of suggestions:
    1. You need to set the lift-angle on the timegrapher to 42⁰, not 52⁰
    2. It is better to re-attach the balance and balance-spring back onto the movement prior to putting through the wash. It allows the spring to 'pulse' in the fluid, and is MUCH safer as it prevents impact-damage from moving around in the wash.
    Really satisfying to watch, though. Ready for years more service 👍

      But a new watch wouldn't be half a century old and running +- 4 seconds a day like my 2209 movement amphibia. In my case how accurate is a 10 dollar US watch?
      Answer is as accurate as a brand new Rolex if you service your 2209 properly 😀

    I must admit to a bit of anxiety when I saw you put the balance in the basket with those other parts. Most watchmakers I've seen temporarily reinstall the balance on the main plate for cleaning and clean that in a separate basket to avoid damage to the hairspring. I certainly don't want to tell you how to do your job, but that honestly seems like a safer practice. But best regards I look forward to future videos!

  • @Sestorema
    @Sestorema Год назад +2

    Good job, but maybe you have forgotten to open and clean the box of the mainspring.
    And the stone of the balance with antishock spring must be cleaned and oiled too.

      Shows the original scratched and cracked crystal, then shows a new replacement, which is then sanded for no reason. Odd.

    I didn't see where you removed the main spring to clean. But the video shows you oiling the main spring ?
    I don't understand 😕

    • @VeganAtheistWeirdo
      @VeganAtheistWeirdo Год назад

      I don't understand many of the choices they made, so I'm glad it wasn't just me. There are 3 watchmakers I'm subscribed to right now, and unless there is a specific, unusual reason not to do so, which they will point out, every one of them has always kept the balance assembly out of the watch cleaning machine, opened the barrel and removing the mainspring before putting both in to be cleaned, kept brass parts, steel parts and plated parts in separate baskets when cleaning, been incredibly gentle in seating bridges to avoid damaging pinions... and when they want to replate something, they don't buff it, scuff it up, paint it, _then_ clean it in solution for the first time, and _then_ plate it with nothing but nickel (which turns most people's skin green).
      This was just odd from start to finish. They have the tools, but it's like they got the storyboard from ChatGPT and didn't know where the mistakes were. 🤷

    • @antiquesoldvintagewatch
      @antiquesoldvintagewatch  Год назад +2

      Доброй день. Для змащування використовується декілька видів мастил, марки та виробники мастил можуть бути доволі різними. Механізм мию в очищеному бензині ультразвуком. Але можуть бути і інші варіанти що до миття.
