Hi Joe, you are zonking all those "fake" vents but have you heard of the "Golf Ball" effect? In fact Mythbusters covered a car with clay and put round dimples on the clay like a golf ball and they compared with a regular car in MPG. They got better mpg with the car that they put dimples on its surface. So, those fake vents might not function as a vent but they improve aerodynamics for a better MPG. Also eCVT is different than the belt driven CVT.
I don't get why you zonk prop rods. Its not like most people go under their hoods often, especially the buyers of priuses. They are cheaper, more space efficient and lighter, which are all great things for a vehicle of this nature. Sure maybe on a 5500lb SUV would a prop rod be out of place, but not an economy vehicle

I would probably buy the Kia Niro hybrid instead, although the Prius Prime and regular Prius are on the most recent Consumer Reports top ten list, just after the Mazda MX-5 Miata. The Hyundai and Kia hybrids have a longer warranty, especially for the big hybrid battery, and they do not have a small starter battery that needs replacing every 5 to 7 years. The biggest downside is they have not been out long enough to know a lot about how they do with 200 thousand plus miles and 10 years plus for weathering.
I had to replace the starter battery in my 2008 Prius a couple of years ago, and I replaced the hybrid battery at 11 yrs/175k (which I thought wasn't bad). I had similar thoughts as to the Prius being out for nearly 20 years and the Ioniq only being out for 3, but in the end, hybrid technology has been around a long time and has been proven to be reliable, and Hyundai has an excellent warranty. After test driving both, I am hands down going with the Ioniq.
Remove the useless middle headrest in the back seat to improve rear-view visibility. The Prius does have regenerative braking. In fact, if you take your foot off the accelerator driving down the highway a slight regeneration is engaged putting a drag on the vehicle. Another 40 k = 5 to 6 years, it doesn't get any cheaper. I modified the mid speaker and transformed the JBL into something I really like. Huge difference in sound quality. How they allowed it as it came stock is beyond me. I guess they want to sell you a Lexus. I imagine some mods to the door speakers would boost bass, but that just wears out one's ears.

Honda Insight has no room to carry lots of cargo, but performance is the only thing Honda Insight has, if your going to compre this to a Honda, then the Honda Clarity will definitely be better than the prius, but the price range is around 20k difference
Good morning everyone. Hey Joe, great review as always! I’m not a big fan of the Prius but I think it’s a great car for someone who wants a cheap daily driver!
Toyota has been using lithium ion batteries in higher trim level Priuses for some years now. What you said about them only using Ni-MH in all Priuses is wrong.
I have owned my Prius for 12 years and absolutely LOVE it (2008 option 2 model). It's been extremely good to me; the only nonstandard maintenance I've done is replace the 11V battery in the back, and I had to replace the hybrid battery at 11yrs/175k miles (which I don't think is unreasonable). Being a loyal Prius owner, I test drove the 2020 and HATED it. I don't love the exterior design (although it's better than the last generation), and this shade of blue is obnoxious. You have to turn your head and look at the center every time you want to see your speed etc. (the instrument panel needs to be in the driver's direct field of vision). There is a LOT less rear head room in the 2020 than my 2008; my husband could not sit back there and he is only 6' tall (I'm 5'7" and I felt cramped). I cannot see out of the back of the car when turning my head to reverse like I can in my 2008. Flipping the seats down in the back results in a shelf rather than a large flat surface area for cargo. I went down the street to test drive a Hyundai Ioniq, told the dealer I was a loyal Prius owner, and asked him to make me a believer. He didn't have to - the car sold itself. That was a 2019 model, and I decided to wait for the 2020, so come this September, I plan to buy a 2020 Ioniq Hybrid Limited. It's a better car in every aspect than the 2020 Prius and costs less.
Good morning Joe 🤗. Sorry I'm late Joe I was still sleeping LOL. I don't like Priuses but hey Cool Beans. I prefer the 2017 Toyota Prius styling & Interior.
A bit of body roll??? Rocking like a boat, Joe! I know, it's not it's purpose. With the Accord and Camry Hybrids, this is not in my list of options. Gotta make it better looking.

@@patrickkamski8108 How about until charging is more widespread. With an only electric vehicle, if you are going on meetings and across counties you can't rely on it for work. I love electric vehicles and they will be the future, but that reality is very far from now. For the next decade, hybrid is the a leader in automotive powertrains.

Saw this at night and I was like woah’ the rear end and front end are so much better!!!!! I’m so glad they got rid of the rear alien looking taillight
Toyota Loyal so I especially love all your Toyota reviews.
Nice car & good review 😃👍
Umm.. the vertical black plastic things on each side of the front bumper are either eyelashes .... or combs.... :^)
Hey joe can you do a review of the 2020 ram 2500 or 3500? It won truck of the year.. just asking
I will get that together for you Ray!
@@RaitisRides thank you sir!!
The wheel hubcaps are nice, what they call, hard to replace 😮
I own a hellcat challenger Widebody and lifted Ford F-150 gotta have one of These to save on gas
Beautiful and distinctive car
Now this is a hybrid that I would have than the Hyundai Ioniq. Much more spacious AND USB for the back passengers. 😎
The Ioniq has more rear passenger space.
Would you recommend this Prius to new drivers? If so what is the estimated insurance cost?
The insurance costs are quite average and are in line with most cars in its class.
@@cosmicviewer477 *also the money you save on gas + it's a Toyota .. treat it good, it'll be your 1st and only car for a good decade 😂
Hi Joe, My name is Luis Urnieta and yes, you just can't have perfection in it's greatest.
Thank you so much Luis!! You are really great!
What color is this? Didn't hear it if he said it.
Did he say it doesn’t come with a spare tire? What kind of sense does that make?
Prius is a simple tool to move people from place A to place B.
AGREED!
is there a way to replace piano black after market?
Can the plastic in the wheels be removed? 🤔
No regen braking in the prius? R u 100% certain?
This is the one I have.... what generation is it?
The current generation.
@@RaitisRides *4th and current gen of Prius
Is it faster than a Honda Insight? ✏️
Would like to see you do a review of the Prius Prime.
I will get my hands on one for you Steve!
I always thought hybrids would always look like Will Smith’s Audi he drove in ‘I Robot’ movie lol
rear ac is under neath the front seats, i think. At least in mine there are vents underneath the front seats.
HUH? Really? I need to take a look at that.
@@RaitisRides ha...ok, i'm not so sure if it's ac or heat. I have yet to test it. I just got the car, recently. I do see some kind of duct/vent looking thing under the front seats though.
Prius vs Prius Prime? How low can I negotiate the price on this popular vehicle?
Prius Prime all day! Call Jeff Letham at Wesley Chapel Toyota!
I’ve never been a fan of that little gear shifter thing, I honestly think they should just do buttons
Love to see a review of 2020 Prius Prime Limited and how it compares with regular Prius models.
I will get that together for you!
@@RaitisRides much appreciated! you are the greatest! i have been car shopping and considering prius as an option.
I been seeing a lot of Prius owners giving me bad look at my Tesla Model 3 😂
I won’t personally buy any Tesla until soiled state battery technology come out.
@@patrickkamski8108 How about until charging is more widespread. With an only electric vehicle, if you are going on meetings and across counties you can't rely on it for work. Who has 20 minutes to charge a vehicle when filling up a hybrid is 2-4 mins and you're gone, with more range. I love electric vehicles and they will be the future, but that reality is very far from now. For the next decade, hybrid is the a leader in automotive powertrains.
@@diegoramirez4844 I legit think EV will take over a great chunk of marketshare in the next 5 years. Technology advances not in a straight line, but curve going faster as the year passes by.
@@diegoramirez4844 While that is a completely valid concern. Most people do not need to drive across country on a regular basis. Most people rarely drive outside their city for dedicated road trips, and for those road trips, the tesla charging network is becoming better and better everyday for that.
Better to get a Honda Insight, pretty much the same mpg w/o the in your face hideous looks. It use to be a decent looking car but really went crazy with the new design, they tried to fix it this year but still doesn't look any better
Yeah, no. It sucks!
Hi Joe, This car is nice but I would rather see a review on the Prius Prime. Thanks.
Where is the demo on toyota sense 2.0? Prius
When the RAV4 prime PHEV goes on sale all other models will take a back step in sales.
You're gonna love that lithium ion battery pack. You're gonna lose energy every year.
I like the Prius update, but the 2020 Hyundai Ioniq has better design and more features for the money.
The Ioniq is better, hands down. Trading in my beloved 2008 Prius (which is much better than the 2020) and buying an Ioniq this fall!
I really like your reviews! You're funny too lol
Thanks for letting me share the cars and the laughs with you1
I wish they was a suv pruis
I am surprised that they don't have one.
RAV4
Or Highlander hybrid
RAV4 Hybrid, C-HR Hybrid, Lexus UX Hybrid...
2021 RAV4 Prime is coming soon
I am surprised, I like the look of the exterior, except that front end.
I think the Insight Touring would be my preference.... for the looks, & driving experience.
I had a 2017 Prius. The seat killed my back so I had to trade it in.
Really? I considered buying a 2017 Prius. Then test drove a Mustang EcoBoost premium and bought it the next day.
Try driving a Nissan Rogue. Then you'll know back pain. I test drove the 2020 Prius today, and loved the seats.
I had this exact color and style vehicle it was interesting
The front air curtains*are* functional. You'll notice that every new car has them.
Thanks for the info.
Lol, Joe, I'm laughing through this entire video as you keep saying not my thing or my favorite saying aka not my cup of tea. My sister loves loves loves her Prius. I debated and in the end decided on the Mustang.
If you let me host the show I will definitely zonk the car inside and out a hundred times.
I feel your pain!
Great review. Do u actually eat twinkies??
Going back to CVT subject, Toyota doing their own CVT'S and they still not perfected this but a huge different in comparison with junky Nissan CVT.
Thank you, Joe!
Youre funny and entertaining. You and your snacks. Hehe ❤️
