  • One of the most asked questions I get on this channel ,is can I use oil-based paint in the same gun as acrylic, I've been doing it for years and this is all I do, never had I had a problem yet. I also use recycled mineral turps. Cleaning my airless spray gun after spraying an oil-based undercoat is too easy. "Never let your spray gun go dry inside is the most important aspect of this"

    i dont put my return hose from my airless in the paint, i have it in a 4l tin beside my suction pickup, also when it comes to cleaning the airless out,its less water,or turps needed try some time ,i was shown this by a irish painter years ago,and its a good trick

    What was the filter taken out around 7:30? Is it recommended to have any special equipment when using oil based compared to any other paint for spraying through a machine? If so where might one find replacement filters?

    • @ThePa1nterhowto
      @ThePa1nterhowto  8 мСсяцСв Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄

      That's a standard wagner filter in the handpiece,I buy mine in bulk on ebay usually. Spraying oil based is not realy for the amateur, lots can go wrong, runs will be your biggest enemy but a mohair roller sleeve can fix that

    For doing wicker furniture, do you recomend a short hose, like a 2 meter whip?

      I just did around 20 wicker furniture, chairs and tables for a wedding , i used oil based undercoat and two coats of taubmans all weather, I finished them all in one day, I think a whip would be handy but not essential, I just put drop sheets on the ground and moved the furniture around to get to the hard to reach spots.

      @ThePa1nterhowto awesome info, thanks.
      I've watched your oil clean-up videos. So, basicly, you are using a 3 stage (dirty to clean) wash process?

    • @ThePa1nterhowto
      @ThePa1nterhowto  8 мСсяцСв Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄

      Yes, I'm using the acrylic paint after the oil to fully clean the inside of the gun after my normal cleaning process.

    If I'm not using for a few months,do you reckon it's OK to run diesel through it and just leave the gun sealed in water bucket?

    • @ThePa1nterhowto
      @ThePa1nterhowto  10 мСсяцСв Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +1

      I don't leave diesel in it but after the diesel, water then seal the gun, no problems

      Beautiful, I've never had a run, don't need to thin it, and no special tips needed

    What spray machine is good for spraying oil based? I need something with less power to spray oil. My normal sprayer has too much overspray with oil paints

    • @ThePa1nterhowto
      @ThePa1nterhowto  Π“ΠΎΠ΄ Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄

      I don't know what you have, I believe all sprayers can handle oil paints, if your getting overspray , maybe your paint is to thin or too much pressure

      @@ThePa1nterhowto I run a Graco 395 it has smart control settings as well. It does celling and walls great. But I'm not sure how to turn down the pressure when doing doors and woodworks
