    Agree with your watch collecting take. I was a huge snob and for over a decade only wore things costing into five figures on my wrist. My last purchase was a Ginault OR2 that I love wearing and now looking at a combat sub... A cool watch is a cool watch regardless of price. Took me a while to let my ego realize this.

    I agree with you anyone who hasn’t owned a Combat Sub is missing a great watch for the price. Saving my pennies to get the Bronze Sub.

    Very cool, built well. I've had a combat sub for 2 years, runs great, still looks like new. Tremendous value.

    Had one, sold it because the bezel was as thin as a quarter. Gonna hookup with one soon, the Fifty Fathoms is too expensive. The glycine as a great alternative!!!!

    Glycine are great. Great case shape, and thin for its water resistance. Underrated for sure.

    I absolutely love these. Glycine is what I'm looking forward to, as a dad of a young family and being in NZ all the nice things are hard to come by.

    Just received the Ref. GL0322 (Bronze Sub) today. I have to state that I'm overwhelmed by how good it looks in the flesh and the general feel. Seems to be really well assembled, feels sturdy and rigid and that warm glow of the bronze case... I'm gobsmacked, I really am.
    I've had Rolex, Breitling, IWC, Fortis, Rado, but this nimble watch is so good looking, and for a very affordable price. Couldn't be happier.

    I wanted a watch with a bronze casing and had the doubt between Baltic and Glycine. I really use the date complication a lot for work so I went with the Glycine diver. Delivery was excellent and the rubber strap is super comfortable. Really love my purchase!

    I have one of the bronze Combat Subs ( GL0288, I think??? ) and it's a fantastic watch. I coat the back once in a while with pure lanolin to keep my wrist from turning green. Love it!

    I have that bronze GMT on brown leather and it's a fantastic watch, one of my favourites. Also patina'ing up nicely. Snobs might turn their nose up at the Sellita SW inside because it's caller GMT (what most people actually need) not traveller GMT (not everyone is an airline pilot). Also, snobs seem to think Glycine and Steinhart and the like are just knock-off homage brands. Also, they are not expensive enough for snobs to notice.

    to be honest, they need to update their website to showcase the watches better. the photo quality on the website does not put the watches in a good light.

    You hit the nail on the head. Never heard of Glycine until invicta purchased them. Invicta's reputation for poor quality control, very poor customer service, and phony advertising makes a big black mark.

    • @TheGearPeddler

      Maybe you never heard of them because you don't know shit about watches. Understand that Invicta saved Glycine. Glycine has been making great watches for a long time and if you never heard of them before Invicta saved them...you are admittedly not informed....that's a black mark on you.

    Could you please tell the model no. Of the GMT. It should be stamped on the back of the watch that starts with GLxxx. Glycine have so many color variations that it's hard to keep track.

    In the last couple of years, Glycine has brought out some very nice watches. The one that really stands out for me is the Combat Classic with the salmon dial, Glycine call it rose gold but it really doesn't matter what it is called it is still a great looking watch. The hands and indices are blued and against the salmon dial it looks phenomenal.

    I have a Combat Sub. Saying that it compares to Omega is ridiculous. The Glycine is a decent watch for the money but it absolutely doesn't compare to the quality of an Omega or Breitling. I have the steel bracelet and the clasp is junk compared to the aforentioned brands.

    • @blacktrucksfly
      @blacktrucksfly 2 года назад +3

      He said the bezel action compared. He wasn't saying the watch as a whole compares.

    • @wyang4895
      @wyang4895 2 года назад

      @@blacktrucksfly , yep, you are correct - my apologies. Serves me right for skipping forward, eh? Even here though, I kind of disagree. Maybe it's because mine has 60 clicks vs 120 but it does NOT feel or sound expensive and refined; frankly, it feels a bit cheap and crude. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent watch and I like that it has a sapphire crystal but the only time I ever wear it is when I'm fishing or doing something where a light watch with good water resistance is a benefit.

      I own 2 Glycines, an Airman DC-4 and a Combat Sub 46mm. I also have a Breilting, and I can confirm that the 120 click Glycine bezel is as good as the Breitling bezel, action and feel are both excellent, but at a vast difference in price.

    Sorry I couldn't stay for the video, it just popped up on my feed. I'll just throw my 2 cents in. I can't stand glycine because of Invicta, yes I said it. In 2012 a combat sub sold for $700 on the grey market, now I can go buy one for $400 all day long. Usually prices increase, not decrease. A great watch, but one can only imagine why they get so much hate. Imagine buying one at $1200 one year, then being being sold for $600 the next year by Invicta. It's the same reason Ball watches won't ever get respected. A damn fine watch, but when you cut your prices in half out of nowhere...

    • @sethsez
      @sethsez 2 года назад +12

      A while ago I paid more for my Combat Sub than their current going rate, but I'm not going to fault the one brand that appears to be course-correcting into a more reasonable direction (while everyone else is inflating prices out of nowhere) due to sour grapes. $400 for a solid Sellita-based Swiss dive watch is a completely fair and rational price, it's the rest of the industry that's gotten stupid over the past few years.
      And if this stings a few people in the "watches are investments" crowd, well, that's an inevitable sacrifice that happens sometimes. Buy watches because you like the watches. If you MUST buy a watch as a way to store value, just bite the bullet and get a Rolex. Nobody should buy a Glycine (or a Longines or an Oris or a Tag Heuer or a Breitling or a Tissot) as an investment.

    • @nightstalker824
      @nightstalker824 2 года назад +1

      @@sethsez my comment never mentioned anything about an investment, and you went off on that🙄. Glycine and investment are oxymorons. I just simply stated that when they were a private company they sold for a certain price, and people paid it. The following year after the purchase from Invicta they cut the prices in half. Is that good move? It sure is, but imagine all those people who people paid much more only to have the brand "cheapened." I don't own a Glycine, but have in the past. I wouldn't mind having one now
