I'd been homeless twice. After I got canned for having the flu from my 3rd job in a year (sure that's illegal, but who can afford a good lawyer?) I said enough is enough. I can put in 70 hrs a week and still fail. I stopped. I know they say it's a free country but I invite anyone just to do what they love no matter how low it gets. I'm not wealthy, I don't have much money. I don't drive. But for the first time in my adult life, I don't think I'm depressed... At least not as much as I was. At least for me, life in a rat race isn't worth my sanity. Money can't buy whatakes me happy. "Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me." 💛

I simply made one choice. I refuse any longer to do ANYTHING that I consider to be wrong. No ifs ands or buts. I'm not religious enough to be a monk, but it's kind of like that.

I'm happy that you're more stable. I was homeless for a few months back in 2001-02. I know what that's like. Keep going forward and don't look back.

I have enjoyed watching your journey grow, and your confidence grow along with it as you build the life you want. Always insightful. Thank you for sharing.
I realized in my 20s I didn’t want to settle for what I saw unhappy people settle for, and was willing to take risks to carve my own path. When I told my mother I was going to quit my salaried job to freelance as an artist, to my surprise she was happy and excited for me. She knew I needed to do my own thing in order to be happy and fulfilled. Life has certainly been full of ups and downs, but the only way to keep up is to be willing to make changes along the way and figure out how to change obstacles into opportunities. My conversation with her was 30 years ago. I think what helped me believe I could do it was her confidence in me. It helps to have an advocate. She’s been gone now since 1997, but I still imagine her cheering me on in some way every time I learn to pivot and expand my work.
It’s easier to thrive when one has an advocate encouraging them. I feel like that’s what you are doing in your business, even in these videos you make. They are always a reminder for me that I’m on the right track and to keep moving forward. Thank you.

Hi David, through risk, grit, hard-work and determination you found your niche. It’s a universal story and your message is very accurate.
Thank you for what you contribute to this, somewhat very uncaring at times, world. Australia

You have vision my friend, in a world where most see things as they are. You see things as they can be. Very unique. Thank you for believing in humanity, and giving them the opportunity to be better. Thank you David

David, fantastic video, thank you. It is as if you are speaking of my exact personal experience (and hope many people feel that way as well), each and every single thing you say here (even the uncomfortable truths) are things I resonate with.
I don’t play victim much, although the victim thoughts do creep in while life CONSTANTLY kicks my ass up and down the street each and every day.
I make “enough” money where I am now, but trade incredible amounts of energy and time to get this, and imo is not worth it because although my finances are not a burden, the trade off of time and energy results in no actual time to enjoy life. And when I say I make “enough” it means close to $100k but not quite, I live frugally and still am not wealthy by ANY stretch.
Thanks again for this vid, one of your best for sure.

Thanks for your vulnerability and sharing your voice here Jim. I'm curious to know... are you living your ideal life? If not, are you working toward something else? What does that look like?

if you are not thriving in these good times of plenty this failure is 100% on you. Consider what are you going to do when the global economy collapses and we see true hardships. Things have never been better than they are now and will never get better than it is now during our lifetime.

Ultimately everyone creates their world and the world, but I'm sympathetic and do not measure happiness and success by economics, as you probably don't either-- the 100% failure on you could just reinforce one's belief that they are a failure, and it can be used to generate blame on the homeless, non critical with authoritarians. I would be embarrassed to thrive in the U.S. today, having enough is enough. Compassion can't develop in a New Age retreat, but by doing real things about the suffering all around us.
