American Girl - Tom Petty (bass cover / play along)

My quick bass stab at one of the late Tom Petty's most notable and recognizable songs. Surprisingly it never charted well in the US, but has become a staple classic rock song. Written on July 4, 1976 and released in 1977 on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers debut self-titled album. Not overly complicated, but fast! Listen for some 16ths in the verses. Whew! [editor's note: yes, my slapping needs work but it's an old Fender P-bass and it's not really set up for slapping]. Writing credits of course to Tom Petty. RIP, man.
