Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is a 2017 multiplayer tactical first-person shooter video game developed by Antimatter Games and Tripwire Interactive and co-published by Tripwire Interactive and Iceberg Interactive. It is a direct sequel to 2013's Rising Storm and is set during the Vietnam War.

I miss this game so much. Its such a shame it was abandoned so early by the devs and now Blackmatter doesnt even exist anymore

I mean you can still play it, it always has a couple full servers, some vanilla and some modded. It’s just unfortunate it’ll never get any updates or new content outside mods.

Coming back to say the some of the devs from Blackmatter started another company and bought the rights for '83 and are have started up development again

100% agree, rs2 is my fav fps and one of my top 5 games of all time as well.
There's something about this game that makes it so special. The fact that it hasn't gotten an update for a very long time would usually leave any game to die on the vine. But the community of rs2 (kind of) has done that for everyone. The mods. The map making. All of it. I can still get into a mostly full server day or night over the last year.

i have almost 600 hours on this game which is A LOT for my standards, it's just fun tbh, i don't think there are many other shooters that balance realism and arcade so well as rs

Get on!!!! I play prolly 4 nights a week and always get in. Play the LMC servers but stay away from mega servers.
Perfect video talking about a near perfect game (gameplay wise). It's a shame we are not getting a sequel or spiritual sequel any time soon (and maybe ever), I mourn '83 every day :(

@@Tantwo Didnt it go free on epic games at one point amd then there was a good update? I was sure it was gonna blow up then. It kinda did but sucks that it died down a bit.
I do still enjoy it too and Red orchestra, its timeless for me. Nothing comes close except maybe HLL but even that is very different

Dude the song as the alarm song part is so true thought. I set message in a bottle by the police as my alarm for one year during highschool and I cant listen to it or running through the jungle by choice.

GOM 4 + Black Orchestra should be launching near the end of this year, soon we'll have a breath of fresh life for RS2.

My only regret is that I wasn't around in time to play the original Rising Storm and Red Orchestra 2 in their prime. RS2 is still such an incredible and genuinely fun game to play - especially with the weapon handling. It's arcadey enough that it's easy to pick up and play, but it's realistic enough the guns feel beefy and don't just shoot wet spaghetti. Also the "ping" you get when you get a headshot is peak.

you could call it that, I get team killed on purpose at least once a session when I play on the asia server lol
This game is amazing. It is my favourite shooter. The immersion is great. I'd say that this game as well as Project Reality and Darkest Hour: Europe '44 - '45 are ganes that suck you in being fully immersed.
I miss piloting in this game, will get back into it eventually.

hey u might be aware if there are servers with green army men maps?
Got this game recently and I really enjoy it except for the fact that for some reason I can’t even load into 90% of the servers and have to get lucky to play.
My main issue with RS2 is that (atleast in EU servers) most servers with official maps have map voting, which means that 90% of the time it's same 3 or 4 maps.
I have over 200 hours in the game and I don't think I played on all maps yet.
Really gets tiring of seeing same maps all the time, which is why I liked to play on custom maps servers.
just be thankful you have a populated server with humans to play on lol unlike me these days
I feel like Vietnams setting would be perfect for Hell Let Loose style gameplay ngl
i played a LOT!!!! of Red Orchestra 1 (and its mod, Darkest Hour)

and IDK if its just the look and feel of unreal engine 2.5..... or how the weapons look a bit smaller/more realistic..... or the harder combat
but i still say RO1 is the best RO/RS game ever made.... (especially back when 100s played RO1... the modding community was the BEST EVER)

its spawning system made sense for a game centered around Stalingrad...... and its STILL the only RO/RS to do tanks right
RS2 tanks had potential.... but not being able to jump out, and only 1 tank model sucks

even COD united offensive had 2 tank types (heavy tanks killed mediums in 1 hit.... yet it was STILL balanced as finely as counter strike)

with a good commander, god mods, amazing player base...... and LARGE combined arms maps
that is STILL the best game i ever played

RO2 was great for inf combat..... but was dumbed down a bit (a bit too much fast pace..... not enough 1.5KM walks from spawn like in RO1)

RO1 is still the best game ive ever played...... and id play the base game, no mods, today for 10 hours straight, get fired from work, loose my GF.....
id even let my dogs/cat starve to death (jk... love my rez mutts too much)

Are the Australia servers still populated or have they gone empty
I seem to be haunted by a bug that prevents me from leveling up. I reached level 40 four times!! I reinstalled the game and progressed to Level 41. And then got stuck again, unable to progress past 1k points in Level 41. I should probably be Level 50 by now.
I have around 150 hours on this snd it's the only thing that actually scratches my Vietnam gaming itch. Honestly the only gripe I have is that the ragdolls can buy out sometimes vut that's about it. Long Live PR Long campaign server. It doesn't matter how long I don't play but when I come back that server is always there waiting. I would almost kill for a studio that could make more official content for this game but we all know thst won't happen.
I think that's the main issue honestly, People play for a couple of rounds untill they play Hue city for the third time in a campaign and then they stop flr a couple of weeks

Truly the best 1st FPS I've ever played. Based on all the points you made! But, the Falklands is the worst map on multi-player haha.
I would say that Burning Lands looks good but I have been obsessed with Vietnam war games since the original Vietcong, Eve of Destruction mod and Battlefield Vietnam. RS2 is hands down one of my favourite online games, it has that perfect balance and the intensity is just right. What Burning Lands lacks is the freeaim system though, RO/RS has the detached aiming system that makes handing the weapons so much more interesting (like firing at sharp angles in close quarters), having the aiming locked to the center of the screen sucks. I hope they can element that in Burning Lands!
Burning Lands will be probably the same as Squad can be, so low-paced, waiting sim.
Btw mr bronson, whats the game that we from the aussie servers on rs2V, play nowadays?

How active is Aussie and SEA servers recently? Because I’m really hungry for some Vietnam actions after 200 hrs of Squad.
The Aussie/SEA server disappeared a few months ago and the playerbase went to zero overnight and has been dead since, TFZ gets no players.

I put my PC from the Living Room back into his Gaming Closet and so i also will ve playing again, cant see sh*t on a 49" FHD TV compared to my 27" WQHD

Rising storm 2 is the only game I have 1,200 hours in and every match is intense

i like this game but my 5600x and 3080ti struggles to run it even on low.
there has to be a problem on your end because I have a 5700x and 4070ti and I demolish the game on ultra settings. Maybe do a reinstall or delete the documents folder that contains RS2 to reset the settings?

I love the game but the bugs are super annoying especially the movement and water bug.
there will NEVER be a realistic shooter like rs2 I enjoy, sandstorm is the closest to it that I enjoy but it being so much more focused on cqc combat instead of ranged itll just never be what rs2 is.
