Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is a 2017 multiplayer tactical first-person shooter video game developed by Antimatter Games and Tripwire Interactive and co-published by Tripwire Interactive and Iceberg Interactive. It is a direct sequel to 2013's Rising Storm and is set during the Vietnam War.

I shoot shotguns in real-life. The range on the shotguns is accurate on the game, even with buckshot. Buckshot and birdshot don't instantly spread when they leave the barrel.
What about the duckbill thingy?
I have never used that nor seen that application. From what I have read, the duckbill was introduced in the Vietnam War and not really popular thereafter.

Yeah, RS2 is one of the few games that actually has realistic shotguns. The issue with most other games is that they don't have maps large enough to accommodate realistic shotguns. Most call of duty maps are all within real world shotgun range, even though people are using sniper platforms in those situations. If shotguns were depicted realistically in those other games, they'd dominate most scenarios. But because RS2 has places where you'll be fighting at ranges of anywhere from 100 to 500 or more meters, they can actually let shotguns behave more realistically. It's funny to see cod boys rage because they got one tapped with a shotgun at 60 meters. They seem to think that buckshot just de-spawns at ten feet. 😂
Speaking of TK's... Rising Storm was the first FPS I ever played. My first map was a night map playing as Australians. I had no idea what was going on and didn't know what Australian uniforms looked like. I spawned into a bunker and tk'd an entire squad of teammates running into the bunker for cover because I thought they were VCs. lol.

shotguns wouldn't have been issued to VC or PAVN soldiers, but they were commonly used for hunting by civilians before the war. French double barrel shotguns (like the Fusil Robust Brevete) or domestically produced single-barreled ones (like those traditionally used by Montagnards) are known to have seen some combat use throughout Vietnam and Laos.
not that the IZh-58 in-game makes sense specifically but it's a fun gun
LOVE the hunting side by side 12ga in RS2; always get a smile when people who are used to more arcade style FPS's getting killed by 12ga at more than 50 meters.

The VC looted shotguns and elephant guns from the monarchy and the frenchs and use them. Mostly high ranking officers use them.
Wasps and hornets love to build nests just outside my window. I've woken up to having a few in my room (on me) that crawled in through my turned off window AC unit. So whenever I hear something that even remotely sounds like buzzing, I immediately jump out of bed to look around the room.

@@Tantwo i used to have that demon hovering over me and i was frozen, when i was young, and if i could move, somthing terrible would happen, bloody awful, but they disappeared as i got older, thank fuck , so theres hope! :)

How do you go finding servers here in Australia? I’ve been getting back into rising storm lately but I’ve had to play on US servers with 300+ ping, is that your experience as well?

Lately I have been using just shotguns, especially the riot gun it's just like shoot, reload, reposition.
I also have been having some trouble with the game, can't click anything on the UI so I am not able to play the game for now. Do you have any fixes, reinstalling and deleting UI/Input files didn't work, I use Epic Games for RS2V
the riot shotgun is really good and unfortunately I can't help you with the UI issues but you might have more luck on the RS2 reddit page

lol my dad fought in the Bosnian war on the Bosnian side and his first weapon was a pistol. Later they gave him a similar shotgun to the Vietnamese one in the game. And that's in 1992. No way the Vietnamese didn't use stuff like that back in 1960's.
