    It is about time that I find a tech guy that knows his stuff on the older stuff which makes it fun and at the same time said tech guy has some camera skills. The chit chat "Priceless" I haven't watched too many of your vids but I am retired now and want to learn something about electronic repair so I plan on watching more. Thanks.

    Great channel. Always look forward to your videos.
    Congratulations on excellent camera work and i also enjoy listening to your excellent explanations and chit chat. I have learned a lot from you. Many thanks.
    If you could find some cd players to repair in future videos that would be great.

      CD players. No problem I have some of those to fix. I am looking for one in specific that I know I have somewhere, but just can't quite put my finger on it. I know, or think I know where it should be, but it wasn't where I thought it was. Unfortunately many times with CD players it is the laser assembly that fails. Some times it can be cleaned, as was the trouble with my Minidisk player that I already fixed in a previous video. I fixed my son's JVC mini system, and neglected to record it.

    I have the same kind of problem with my Sony DVD player/radio/cassette Home Stereo system. The Cassette door dose n't open unless using knife or sharp object to open the
    Cassette door and then pushing it back to close it . i think the push button is broken or it might need alignment...not too sure.

    Hi I’m trying to fix a vcr combi can I ask you if the tape you put in the video was empty because I think I may have a similar problem with alignment because “I”(!!!) forced a video in but I’m wondering if i can run the cogs it will fix itself!!

    Also forgot to mention all the timing holes match up as per the service manual so I don't think it's an alignment issue.

    The cassette goes in but does not lift the cassette tab, so a beep noise is heard and the cassette is immediately returned. My VHS is SONY SLV-720HF. What can I do?

    Thank for the info, the deck I am working on, tape is going part way in, and then sounds like and looks like, jumping cogs, so it may be alignment issue.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  5 лет назад

      A plastic piece breaks and allows the cogs on the slide gear where the front loader meshes with the spur gear to go out of alignment. It is usually repairable as the foot that breaks is usually still there and can be glued back on.

      @@12voltvids It turned out to be the lever on the rhs, that retracts the tape back into the cartridge was sticky, cleaned that, no further problems.

    I got a Panasonic, very similar to this one. You plug it in, get no display or On LED, but heads start spinning, and it takes the tape, which it doesn't eject afterwards. Do you have any videos troubleshooting this kind of issue? Thank you.

      @@12voltvids Do you happen to have at hand what voltages are to be expected? It's got 9 pins. I'm really amateur at this. Everything I know is thanks to your videos. Thank you!

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  3 года назад +1

      @@ArchivoHumano There are multiple voltages, 5, 12, 30 for tuning ect.
      You will likely need to locate a schematic to know which pins should be what voltage unless they are marked on the board which some are.

    Hi if a VCR tape loading mechanism is broken can it be repaired, or does it have to be replaced with an identical part..

      Some times the front loader can be repaired. It depends on which part is broken.

    13:40 "I don't have to do any other work on this."
    Well, it may be a good idea to check the condition of the electrolytic capacitors on the secondary side of the power supply.
    After a while, the caps in those Panasonic SMPS units leak or dry up to at least some degree; they run a little on the warm side and they aren't too tolerant of power line anomalies. The symptoms can range from nothing at all to all sorts of weird issues, like a dim and unstable picture, flickering whenever the advance mechanism motor starts up and runs, dim vacuum florescent display, and so on.
    At least, that's been my experience with these things in Florida. If their time being plugged in for several years doesn't get it, then the power surges that happen from time to time in the "lightning capital" would.

      ? I if you are referring to my phone with the text message notification that is the only way I can differentiate between a text and one of the other less important notifications I get throughout the day. There are only 3 people that know my cell number, my wife and the kids, They are the only once that ever send me a text. Everyone else contacts me over BBM, which is the only message app I use. I tell my friends here is my BBM ID, if you want to get hold of me you can install it. When they chirp FB messenger, or whatsup, Snapcrap or any other, my response is the same. BBM or buzz off. I get constant dings, pings, blings throughout the day. My phone is constantly going off with email, and notifications that someone has posted a message on my youtube channel. I ignore them all. When the text message goes off, I have an obnoxious one so I know it is something I need to check. When I have commented that it is someone annoying me with messages, it is usually one of my kids whining about something, and getting little sympathy. Don't get me wrong here either, they are not little kids, they are both grown up adults, but still whine and complain like spoiled brats sometimes. My response is usually GROW THE F--- UP>

      Well you are talking film a chemical process. Recording video on magnetic tape requires a huge bandwidth. Sure you could do it with a stationary head but the required tape speed would be so high that a large reel of tape would only hold a few minutes. The tape would have to run at about 4 metres a second. That is where helical and perpendicular scanning come into play. The first system was quad and was a very complex system that used a 2" tape. They helical scanning was developed and the rest was history.
