- Electronic duo Sylvan Esso is a collaboration between vocalist Amelia Meath of folk trio Mountain Man, and producer Nick Sanborn, bassist from Megafaun. The project melds Amelia's confident vocals with the sputtering synths, chopped up samples and hip hop grooves that Nick first explored with his solo project Made of Oak. The duo approach the stage as balanced parts of the equation, performing with such energy that you can be sure they are both having a great time. We invited the band to visit the Wilderness Bureau to record a live session for us, and all had a tough time sitting still during their electric set.

Dave Dooley These guys are super disciplined performers - from their other live in-studio performances that less edited, like the WFUW one, you see the same audio quality as this. No need to lip synch. My thought is they had more cameras that required editing work, and there may be some synch issues with the audio track that was recorded. Far from calling it "not live" or "not one take". I see no evidence of that.

ok sorry, if thats true my mistake then, was the video one sequence or was there multiple ones made then edited to seem like one take ? if this is the case then that may be what is confusing, video and sound would not be linked perfectly then, cheers love the video by the way !
+Dave Dooley ? What are you talking about? Typically for sessions like this there are multiple cameras. They use the one audio track and cut around to the different angles to give it a better feel. It's 100% live.
you misunderstood my point completely, multiple camera's are nothing to do with what I said, this is multiple takes spliced into to one, at 1:49 the next take is used and it varies from then on, that means the vocals are of a singular perfect take that will nothing to do with some of the video, i.e. the vocal tone is too clear and consistent for the way she's moving thats how it's easy to spot in the first place, the only reason I said it in the first place was that saying the video is live is taking away from engineers in other videos that don't dupe people with editing but instead rely on their skills with the talent. All good though mate, it's hard to spot i suppose !
