I don't understand the people that say Raúl Esparza sounds like Lin-Manuel Miranda. I think Raúl's voice is a lot deeper and richer than Lin's, which is good in its own way, but I don't think they sound like each other.
I think they have a similar timbre, but I also agree that Raul has more power and control over his voice (which is why he's been able to portray such a wide range of characters)
They both have great projection and articulation and are in a really similar range. Raúl has waaaayyyy more range, but I discovered his singing exploits because his speaking voice kept making me think of Lin.

The musical emotion and the story emotion must be go together at same point in Broadway to save time of people and money of stage setting.
