    Not a group, just one beautiful woman, Adele is her name. Very hard to find something not great by her. 'Rolling in the deep', 'Someone like you', 'Set Fire to the rain', 'Send my love (to your new lover)', are all amazing, that's just my opinion. She writes about what's real to her at that moment, she's a really down to earth, funny person.

    I liked your thoughts on the years seeming to pass more quickly as we age because each is a smaller and smaller percentage of our overall life experience. This is also my favorite Adele song. Her albums are simply numbered with her age when she made them. It is an interesting way to reflect upon them. Hang in there Daniel and thanks for sharing this journey and your thoughts with us.

    @Daniel Your theory about age and perception is interesting and does make a lot of sense. I remember being 40ish thinking about how months seem faster than they used to and my 80 year old mom told me "you ain't seen nothing" lol . But it makes sense that a year to her was 1/80. Her theory tho was that life is like a roll of toilet paper... the closer to the end of the roll you are, the faster it spins haha. :)

    Most of Adele’s songs were written while she was going through tough times. Absolutely brilliant are her songs. Try Hello, Someone Like You, both written during or after relationship break ups. Also Hometown Glory and set Fire to the rain are very good.

    One of Best Singer/songwriters EVER. I have three of her album...I rarely listen to them because her songs seem to make me cry...and I am not alone. She is a classic like Jazz singer Nancy Wilson or Billie Holiday...she sings about complicated feelings in relationships that causes pain that we as humans don't want to say or anyone to know.....this song got to me because I am old and death is knocking on my door. I know it. I can feel it. And it is not death I fear but the moments I will not experience with my love ones. It gets to me. And i smile at my friends as if it is the time I will smile at them. She is definitely one of my favorite Divas. She sings about adult stuff not kid stuff. To get a feeling on this....Check out your relationship between you and your little sister.

    I had heard a few songs by Adele over recent years but honestly I did not find her voice appealing to me so I didn't search out more of her performances. Once Angelina Jordan came into my life and 'covered' a few Adele songs, including this one, suddenly I found Adele's songs beautiful and meaningful. Just my opinion but Adele's voice just sounds like something is missing in comparison. Many thanks Adele for creating these beautiful songs.

    The melody of this is almost a note-for-note reproduction of _Yesterday, When I Was Young,_ a 1969 hit for Roy Clark, but maybe even more famously (and powerfully) covered by Dusty Springfield a couple years later. Just listen to this, it's uncanny:
    ruclips.net/video/OHGuMGWQkYE/видео.html
    Another interesting fact is that even that was a remake of a 1964 French song, _Hier Encore,_ by Charles Aznavour.
    (edited to add: the melody is far closer to Yesterday, When I Was Young than it is to Phantom of the Opera)

  • @lesgray6183
    @lesgray6183 3 года назад

    That was a very good reaction. This is a great song by Adele, it's just a shame that so many great songs are so full of sadness and regret. For me, in this time of pandemic and lock downs, this song has a new meaning, perhaps that many of us share in common, I'm sure I'm not the only one. Especially the older generation, we see our lives flashing by, so many plans and dreams cannot be fulfilled.
    Comments below mention the version of this song by Angelina Jordan, hers pays much respect to the Adele presentation, perhaps from a viewpoint more like your own. Angelina sang this at age 12, but could already foresee what would come into her life and the sacrifices she would have to make (and had already made), gives it a feel as though she is writing a letter from her future self, so as not to fall into the same traps. Perhaps you should react to Angelina's version, not to compare or to rank, but to be aware of a slightly different interpretation of the story, the emotions are all there...

    Besides doing this as part of a comparison with the Angelina Jordan version, you could also compare her big hit "Rolling In The Deep" with the cover by KZ Tandingan on the Chinese show Singer 2018, (the year after Dimash's "S.O.S."). KZ's cover was such an original treatment, it won that episode of the competition.
