I'm a lifelong huge metal fan. But this woman does something to my soul when she sings to me. And, in my humble opinion, this video shows the Adele that I was most attracted to.

She's got projection and a depth/roundness to her voice which a lot of pop singers just don't have. And a vibrato that is just gold. She's got serious skill.

I understand that she was unhappy with her body and her decision to loose weight was absolutely hers to make if that’s what made her feel good but honestly when I look back to her this way I think she was gorgeous now she looks miserable, like constant resting bitch face 😩

Adele is from Tottenham which is in london and has a distinctive London accent.Start with her first 2 songs home town glory which she wrote when she was 16 and chasing pavements which were on her debut album 19.
Her albums are named after her age at the time.
@sarablack2547 I agree with you. However, many artists from the U.K have a singing voice which has qualities that sound like southern (bible belt states) and has a raspiness effect. Dusty Springfield sounds like a southern belle singing "Son of a Preacher Man." Lol
@@norskawarrior1919 it used to be a thing were British acts put on a fake American accent for singing,that passed.most lose their accents when they sing some can't like Scottish band the proclaimers.mamchester band oasis and some can't and use it as part of their sound like the Arctic monkeys.

Saw her live in Seattle a few years ago. Great show. She has stunning vocals, combined with evocative writing and sings so easily. She is very down to earth also. She didn't like the way she sounded during the first couple bars of "Hello" so she said, "Damn, I am going to start over." None of us noticed anything wrong but she is quite the perfectionist.
I heard the song on the radio long before I saw the video. I swear by all that's holy I thought it was a gospel singer NOT a British lady. Her vocals and emotions in this song are so powerful. I felt the same way you did watching it for the first time. Pure joy.
I think this is my favorite Adele song. That line "you held my heart inside of your hand but you played it to the beat." gets me every time. Great breakup song.

Probably my favorite Adele song is named River Lea. It was not one that was ever released for the radio but it hits me hard. And I think it speaks to what makes Adele so iconic-her vulnerability. She lays herself out there in her music and it’s raw and it’s beautiful.

Love Adele, and, yes, she lost a lot of weight. Believe it or not, she was criticized for it! (I still don't understand that take.) According to her Wikipedia page, it was used in the films "I am Number Four" and "Skiptrace", where Jackie Chan sang it while drunk. It has also been used in several TV shows and commercials. So, it's likely you have heard it somewhere.
