    Low spin isn't an issue when you consider the distance it is going. From my testing these are about 2-3 clubs longer than sets from 6-10 years ago. Based on that you need to compare clubs that hit the ball the same distance. If this 7 iron is 20 yards longer then you would probably be hitting a 9 iron versus a 7. With the 9 your launch and spin would be similar to an older 7 iron. However, hitting a 9 iron will be way more accuratenthan a 7 iron.

      100% agree with you. About 3 days ago I lost the head of my 7... My clubs are about 6 years old and my 7 is about 160 at 90% swing .. today I went to the pga store and used these irons and my 7 with 80/90% swing with no warm up 180/190 and my last 5 shots all went 200/215.... I bought them on the spot LOL

    I'm 74 soon to be 75. My 7 iron has been about 150 to 160 all my life. I am an 8 HDCP in my senior league. Also, had my shoulder replaced 3 months ago . I was down to 130 yds with my 7 iron a Ping G710. Struggling to get back to even 130 with my 7, even with the best Ping clubs made perhaps. I go to an indoor practice facility hit off a trackman so I am seeing the numbers. The pro is a Callaway rep so he has new Callaway irons laying around. I picked up a demo he had Rogue ST max with reg flex Cypher shaft he had laying around, and after a few balls was hitting around 140 to 150 yards! Then hit one 155! It seemed like that the Project-X "Cypher" shaft allowed me great feel to square up the face in the slot. Going to sell my pings!

    Question☝️
    - what do you thinking, these irons (St-Max and OS)are fore? Hcp 15-beginner ?
    With these lofts, they can play max, the iron 7 and no chance, to stop the ball on the green🤷🏻‍♂️
    I didn't see the sense, to wright the wrong numbers on the clubs🤔
    Ohhh my 7 iron is sooo long...💪
    realy!?🙄

    Thanks for the Review Guys, the roll out on the MAX & MAX OS Irons would worry me, I would hate to hit the Green but roll off into the rough. The PRO Irons look much nicer, though the chrome is a little too shiny (I prefer a matt finish). But I'm looking forward to an opportunity to hit the Pro's to see how they perform.

      100 agree. Launch and spin are extremely low with no stopping power. These clubs are loft jacked and would be hard to game these.

      This is nothing new, and certainly not exclusive to Callaway. 27-29* is pretty common for game improvement irons, regardless of manufacturer.

    I play xrs os. I love them but I don’t like the offset to the left. How does the offset compare with the st max os and the st max? I just ordered at max but I’m scared they won’t hold the green. I’d really appreciate some input. I know i should get fitted but I don’t have a lot of money.

    Great video guys. I am a right handed golfer. I have g710 8-s. I was considering the g425 or st max for a six and seven iron. I am hitting all my clubs to the left except for my g425 six hybrid. It keeps going right on me and my G425 nine wood is laser beam straight for me. I noticed how far left Drew is hitting these st irons. I want a club/clubs between my nine wood and eight iron that will just go straight. No workability. Just straight consistent distances (on good hits of course) and hold a green. Any recommendations?

    I'm getting fit for first time next month. Sadly no 2nd swing where I'm from. Ready to ditch my chunky Wilson D7s which were great to start. I'm a 16 handicap but been steadily improving every year. Goal is to reach 12-13 this summer. I'm having trouble narrowing down my options. Looking for more spin and stopping power for sure and wanna ditch super strong lofts. swing my 7 iron at 90 mph. Apart from i210 or a ZX5/ZX7 combo set what else should I consider?

    • @lindsaynewell6319
      @lindsaynewell6319 2 года назад +1

      P790, Apex and T200 are probably all worth a look. Apex also has DCB version if you need to combo for longer irons and T300 could do the same with T200 (you may need some loft adjustments to make the combo sets work). Mizuno option would probably be 921HM/HM Pro. All of these are about 3-4* weaker than D7s.
      I’m looking at most of these as well - slower swing speed than you, 10.6 hcap replacing old Callaway x16s so I’m going the other direction with lofts.

    • @jackandrews9231
      @jackandrews9231 2 года назад

      The closest comparison would have to be the Apex 21, however you're going forged and expensive than Rogue Pro. Not a whole lot of irons in this category that are more traditional in loft and size but not forged. JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro would still be classified as game improvement 29 on the loft, 3.2mm offset vs Rogue Pro 30.5 and 2.8.

      Also won't need a 4iron in the bag either. I agree Drew or I wouldn't need the lofts as strong but if you have a golfer that has speed but needs forgiveness we might want to tweak the lofts. If anything this video shows that all golfers will obtain distance and forgiveness - Thomas

    Callaway seems to be using the term “AI” rather loosely in their marketing. Artificial Intelligence has been developed for computers, and machines that use computers or chips containing code, to make decisions in solving problems. Things like the best chess moves, self-driving cars, etc. The term has been expanded loosely so that people will be impressed, or intimidated, into thinking if it’s AI, then it must be the best. Not really sure how this applies to the manufacturing of a golf club. There is physics involved, but with physics there is no decision-making needed. It is what it is. Good club design or not so much.
    I think Callaway is just using the term AI as a marketing tactic, just like using the name “Rogue” might catch someone’s interest. Personally, I think the name is quite misplaced. If one looks up the definition of that word you would see that Callaway could do better when naming their products.

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  2 года назад +1

      Hi Rafa and thanks for the comment! Callaway’s application of Artificial Intelligence was for the construction of the clubface. The supercomputers they invested in allowed Callaway to come up with thousands of different clubface designs and structures, which is extensively more than a human design process. If that makes sense.

  • @davidgoodwin101
    @davidgoodwin101 2 года назад

    All manufacturers are doing the same on game improvement irons the key is distance apparently. When they going to realise it's just a club number change 7 iron loft is now a 6 iron loft which is cheating way of doing it, they would do better changing it the other way 8 iron loft on a 7 iron..and hay ho you might get back to 31° which is still strong but less chance getting a bullet ball out the rough and will give you better spin numbers and not 3500 - 4000 spin.
