Ingredients-
300 grams butter
300 grams sugar
5 eggs
300 grams self raising flour
95 ml whole milk
1 tbsp vanilla essence
160 grams evaporated milk
160 grams sweetened condensed milk
Additional 160 ml whole milk
280 ml whipping cream x2
Handful of pistachios
Handful of dried rose petals

Original Tres Leche Cake doesn't contain Butter, You have shown a normal cake recipe.
Tres leche cake has the Egg yolks whisked separately with Sugar, then flour is folded in, next the Egg whites whisked separately with sugar until stiff peaks. Then the Egg whites are folded into the mix. This is because it is a light Sponge, not a standard cake.
The milk mix is added to a warm cake, then left to absorb the milk for a few hours preferably overnight. Its supposed to be a moist cake.
In the comments a few people have made misunderstood the concept of this cake, it is not soggy it is meant to be that way. Its a milk cake .

And also as much as i know about mixing the cake... i've always learnt that you shouldn't over mix the cakes after adding the flour in? Since that makes the cake harder not soft and fluffy?

I've made this a few times and it came out amazing! But could you clarify the amount of double cream in the pouring milk and the topping. The written recipe says 280ml*2, but the video says 100ml or grams in the pouring milk? Thanks

How do you get the whipping cream to not be runny when you pipe it ?. ....also to make multiple cakes do you just double the ingredients and divide in half ?? Xx
When u pipe normally the heat from your hand will melt the cream so try to hold the bag at the top where there no cream otherwise the cream will melt an become runny
Add icing sugar when whipping the cream it helps it stay stiff, only a tbsp or two x

Thank you for this recipe! My question is, how can you make it this in advance? If you put the pouring milk on top of the cake but is eaten the day after, won't the cake be soggy? If you sell to clients, when would you put the pouring milk on top?
Hi sorry for the late reply! You can make and store the cake in an air tight container for upto 3 days, when serving pour on the pouring milk and pipe the cream on top for the best taste! Don’t soak the cake beforehand as it’ll get soggy, I’ve made another video about this coming out next week, subscribe to see more baking tips😄
