I was in the hospital a few years ago and my roommate was a woman from England. The hospital wanted to release her after a 4 day stay but she wasn't ready to go home and threw a fit at everyone trying to discharge her. She wasn't done resting up after whatever was wrong with her, she didn't say what it was, but it wasn't a surgery. She finally began bitching to me about how uncaring the American health care system was, trying to turn her out before she felt ready to leave, and eventually I told her I wished I had her insurance, because I would have loved to save several thousand on my bill. She asked me what I was talking about. I couldn't believe my ears. No one had explained to her she was paying many thousands of dollars for her stay. She said hospitals are free. I told her only in England. She thought her stay would be free because she was English, and they would just extend her England free coverage to her as a visitor. I told her um, NO. She thought the credit card she had showed them was for identity purposes, since she was from another country; as she didn't have her passport with her when admitted. She immediately called admitting and discovered she already owed more than 120,000 dollars and that they had approved her to stay longer. Since she was far from home and hospitalized, her credit card company had extended her credit. Needless to say she turned into a hysterical sobbing mess demanding to be let loose instantly. She would have stayed another week if I hadn't told her she was screwing herself to high heaven. Someone should have made sure she understood before I randomly did. It's not just foreign hospitals that take advantage.

Too bad she's not Israeli I just learned that our government sends the money to subsidize their health Care system and then they're allowed to come to America to seek care and it still covered by their country system which is subsidized by America. Apparently it's a running joke amongst nurses in the hospital when an Israeli comes in.

I was tended to by the UK health care system in February 2022.
I had my baby boy, he was on time. Everything was horrific.
My waters broke 24 hours before I headed into hospital, on the Monday, on the 24th hour things changed, but still no contractions. I called the maternity ward, they told me to come in so they could check me out and send me home again 'because he isnt going to arrive for another few days.' I arrived at hospital at 10pm on the Tuesday and they told me I had no fluid left, promptly starting my contractions. By 3.30am I was in full flow, starting to push, had an epidural the hour before. Things progressed quickly. Then it just stopped progressing.
By 7am, still no baby, despite the constant need to push. A doctor wandered in and said 'she shouldn't be doing this for this long' and wandered out again. I was prepped for surgery and rolled into the surgery room. On the table, I had a second epidural, I gave one final push whilst they were organising for the forceps and baby flew out, placenta followed like I had to birth both at the same time (cord was around baby's neck twice.) They caught his face fleetingly with the forceps - bruising his face. He's fine now. That was at 10am on the Wednesday. I haemorrhaged on the table at this point.
They fixed me up and rolled me into my room. I haemorrhaged again, but this time I was alone in my room for 10 minutes.
They then did a blood test on baby and realised - he's got sepsis. Wait, if he has sepsis, mum must have it too!
My first blood test happened after I had been in the hospital for 12 hours and had a baby in this time. They were in panic, trying not to stress me out. Which was stupid.
They had tracked my sepsis to over 36 hours - more or less as soon as my waters broke I was infected - it was that ingrained.
They informed me, within an hour of the birth, that I was so sick I couldn't see my baby for at least 24 hours. I was distraught, but angry.
So I fought back. I ate like it was going out of fashion, I drank so much water I felt like a fish. 18 hours of not eating, 12 hours of it was actively labouring and pushing, then to have to be dragged off to surgery, makes you ravenous. By 5pm I was well enough (non mobile at the time - epidurals had that effect) to see and hold my baby boy for the first official time.
5.30pm I informed them I needed to go to the toilet (I had a catheter in - but it wasn't working). I was told I had a catheter, and that was that. I was rolled back into my room, minus baby because he needed a little more care in neonatal and I needed to progress with my health too. I still needed to go to the toilet, but I was told I had a catheter, snd that was that.
They tried to flush my bladder with 4 bags of liquid, but nothing happened. They kept ignoring the button I was pressing, as the bladder scanner told them that there was nothing there. I was in agony by 11pm. My partner was sent home by 8pm. I was alone, fighting my corner and no-one was listening to me. 1.30am on the Thursday came around, I still needed the toilet, even worse now because of the amount of water that was pushed through my system. I was screaming in agony on the ward, I just got told off by the nurses for making a racket.
Neonatal nurse came in with the baby so I could have a cuddle, she was unaware of the situation, so I told her to take him back to baby ward for a few hours because I've got to sort myself out first, she handed me the baby and marched over to the doctor on the ward, who was in surgery, dragged him out and started yelling at him. By 2.30am the nurses were changing my catheter, with the threat of me staying in hospital for an extra day, 'whatever it takes for you to do your jobs correctly' was my reply.
The average human bladder can take, at full capacity, somewhere around 700ml. I had 2 litres of urine built up in my bladder. They changed my catheter, and left me in a wet bed.
I knackered out and fell asleep. Woke up at 6.30am to have the baby given officially to me, and because all they do is eat and sleep at this point, and he was already fed, I fell asleep again. Woke up at 7.30am, had breakfast at 8.30am. Still in a wet bed. No nurses from 7 till 8.30 because of changeover. I asked for my bedding to be changed before breakfast. Nothing happened.
My other half turned up at 10.30am (Thursday still) and asked the nurse at the desk for a full set of bedding so he could change it because they couldn't be bothered to do their jobs properly. They panicked and swapped out my bed within 10 minutes.
I was in hospital for 4 days in total. I was on morphine for 2 of them. It took them 12 hours to discharge me on the Saturday.
I was informed that I had sepsis and I had to take 2 weeks worth of antibiotics and injections to fight the last of it off, as well as avoiding DVT and clots. I also lost 1.5 litres of blood, so I had to have 2 iron infusions (not blood surprisingly) too. I was also informed that my original catheter had blocked. I asked if my bladder should have ruptured, he said yes, but incredibly it didn't. It would take some time to rebuild it though. He swiftly left, no apology or anything.
I'd love to give my son a sibling, but the hospital experience is not an experience I want again. Although the births are different every time, I can't guarantee that the nurses would care for the job, like this lot didn't.
I have sent in 17 complaints so far since I left hospital. It's been 18 months and the complaints seem to just keep going missing. Yes, once a month I fire it off, special delivery, and via email too.
I'm back to relative health and my son is doing amazingly.

Boy do I have a story from listening to Story 1:
So, at the young age of 7, I too had a stroke. No one can tell why it happened to me, or why I had it happen at such a young age, but it happened. When I was taken to the hospital in Kentucky they adamantly refused to believe it was a Stroke. My parents took me to a doctor in Illinois my mom's aunt worked with (She was a nurse) and they said I had a stoke.
So my parents took me back to our state at the time and finally got them to confirm that I had a stroke. They put me on medication that, according to my mother, turned me into a living zombie. I'd wake up, eat breakfast, go to school (Sleep in class most days), come home, eat dinner and go to sleep without doing my homework sometimes. And that was the constantly schedule I'd be on while I took the meds. My mom said enough was enough and stopped having me take them. I returned to behaving like a child should, aka a playful bubbly child.
I got held back in 2nd grade almost 3 times before my parents pulled me from school, the school didn't want to give me the help I needed cause I wasn't, and this is what they said, "She's not reta**ed so she doesn't meet the requirements for specials needs class" they actually said that. Made my mom cry that the schools would call me that.
Hell, even my old pediatrician from that state called me the R-word when my parents called to get my old medical records for my current doctors to see what happened back then. And this was when I was in my early 20s, I couldn't call cause I don't do well with convos using my mouth. I get really nervous. Anyways, my parents called and I was in the backseat listening, they had the call on Speakerphone, and they asked for my medical records and this mf really said, "What is she *R-word*?" When my parents said no the bish really said, "Then she needs to be the one to call." My parents have legal rights over me. Since I can't comprehend what I read. And it's just to ensure I don't get taken advantage of by con people trying to get me to sign up for something and I'm not well when pressured into something.
Anyways, that doctor wouldn't give us the medical records, despite my parents telling her that they have legal guardianship over me. E-town doctors are idiots and I feel bad for anyone who has that witch as a pediatrician.

Not the same thing, but my family was charged for my transport to a different hospital via ambulance. The ER we originally went to treated me, but I had to stay overnight and they had no available beds in the hospital itself. The ambulance ride was somewhere between $1,000-$3,000 for a 20 minute drive at most!

    • @saltywench
      @saltywench Год назад +2

That happened to me many times. I have an HMO, and have to be treated there as soon as possible, but ambulances take you to the nearest hospital, not the one you have to be treated in. So I always have tp pay for the ride to the wrong hospital, and then the co-pay for the wrong hospital, and then the ride to the correct hospital. Which is STILL BETTER than staying in the normal hospital where they charge me for the ride from the emergency room across the parking lot to the telemetry building in back where I will be staying, and then back across the hospital parking lot every time I need a procedure done n the main building 300 yards away. It's a RACKET. Don't get me started on the 10 hour wait times for the ambulance to show up to take me that 300 yards.

    As a healthcare story.
I live and work in Japan and the insurance provided is actually pretty good. It’s government standard but usually through your company which pays half.
Late February I found out my previous company had lost so many contracts they just didn’t have enough work to go around, so I was let go. It was a super bad time as job hunting in my field usually starts in October of the previous year.
In late February I also got sick, with what I thought was just a mild chest infection, I had pneumonia twice in 2021, so I kept working and went to the doctor as much as possible. I also had a pain in my leg that the doctors wrote off as a leg cramp.
Mid march my contract ends and I had just managed to find a new job to start in April. My insurance with the first company would last until the end of March and my new insurance would kick in with the new company in April. But it would take a while to get an official card.
Turns out the pain in my leg was a DVT, a blood clot caused by my birth control. And it actual caused a pulmonary embolism on April 4th. I ended up in the ER talking to my work, as I had no proof of insurance, apparently after they heard I would most likely be hospitalized for 3 weeks. They tore up my contract and the hospital had to help me get set up with Japanese national health insurance.
I was in the hospital for two weeks, a few days in the ICU and then the rest of the time in the CCU. My current company did find work for me which I was obligated to take as I was in no condition to job hunt. Its a horrible part time job thats left me scraping by. And I only had a day before I had to start doing training and then was tossed into a new job, far away, that was so physically demanding to my recovery, i would get exhaustion sickness about once a week.
Fun fact. The hospital bill without insurance was about 1,200,000 yen so about $12k after insurance and some relief programs they helped me sign up for, it got bumped down to 120,000, so $1.2k which is still amazing.
The shitty part was my company that Im currently trying to leave. I lose about 3hrs a day to my commute and im so exhausted I don’t have time for my side hustles. Im scared to move back to the USA because I keep having these health issues that I feel like would cost way more, but finding work In Japan is tricky. You’re pretty much boxed into a few options.
This podcast has been nice to listen to while i try to destress at the end of the day so thanks.

The first story reminds me of all of my dental horror stories-
The situation with the first one was I had a chipped tooth that was long overdue for a check up (mom didn't feel like setting appointments and I couldn't since I was a kid) and the dentist not only damaged it further, but also caused even more pain that I had to deal with for another few months. I finally went to see a specialist who fixed my tooth, then gave me a filling.
The second one was caused by my grandma sorting out my dental stuff for me. So, she's a cheapskate and would rather go the cheap route with anything regarding medicine than make sure I'm getting the care I need. She took me to a pediatric dental office for a few fillings I needed done, she signed me up to let a student work on my teeth without asking me about it first, then on top of that she refused to pay for any numbing or anything like that despite my insurance covering at the very least local numbing gel (or whatever it's called).
    It was absolutely agonizing.
At some point I had to get a tooth extracted (baby tooth that wasn't extracted by the first dentist for "cosmetic reasons" began to break down in my mouth) and I finally got to go to a good dentist who not only made sure I was comfortable, but also explained the procedures he was doing while he did them so I wouldn't be so anxious (most of what made me anxious was the amount of shots I had to get in my mouth since I hate needles.)
If you've gotta get dental work done, don't cut any corners with the office you go through. Having a good dentist can make all the difference in not only the experience you have but your recovery afterwards.

lol for the baby story of the initials, I have a really funny one. My mom worked in weddings for a long time, and one of the weddings she did there was a six month old baby. And the mom explained that when they were choosing names, they wanted to name him after his grandpas. And his initials would have been BJ. Their doctor, the pediatrician, asked if they really wanted the names in that order. And they’re like yeah, he says what will his initials be. Mom and dad, stop and then start laughing, because they are married last name was Cox. Their son would have been BJ Cox.

while pregnant with my last baby, I knew my job was not going to give me paid maternity leave, FMLA, or short term disability so I was going to be unpaid for the 6 weeks I would be off from work. My husband and I opted for the more expensive healthcare option at his work so that hopefully we wouldn't have to pay so much out of pocket. My OBGYN had me pay her office 6k (the part that insurance would not cover) and then the morning after I had my baby (I had her at 11:11pm) the hospital was calling my room demanding payment on the 15k bill and when I said "no I have insurance" they said "no this is what your insurance doesn't cover" She's 18 months and I still owe like 10k and I seriously don't want to pay them.

Yikes. America is nuts. I don't know how anyone has kids there. I had a boy in 2009. I'm in Canada. I was stuck in the hospital for SIX weeks up to my emergency c-section, 4 days stay after, son in the NICU for 2.5 weeks, weekly home visits from a nurse to check my healing progress then eventually remove the staples, and I only received the hospital discharge papers when I was discharged and again when my son was discharged.
Edit: I was also able to check out a breast pumping machine from the health region to pump for my bebe in the NICU. I returned it shortly thereafter because my bewbs decided not to work which is fairly common for preemies.

The disability story... Twice I've gotten onto the phone, trying to get through to a doctor about anxiety. I just wanted to talk to a professional. There is a recording that plays, telling the caller that the appointments can be made online (I did this twice too, my first one took months, my second one ignored/missed), and to only call if it's an emergency. I just want to make an appointment, and I get all these thoughts and guilt that I'm taking from someone who needs the appointment more... and I put the phone down. It's crippling. I wouldn't say my anxiety was terrible, but a small amount of help that OP is getting does wonders. Their 'friends' should mind their own, and understand that not all struggles are obvious, and there are ups and downs to these things. They might be getting better now and are in a good place, but what happens if there's a slump? If there's more pressing events during their education happening? It's useful now and it will become extremely important later during those moments. They were approved of the program, which means their school looked at them and agreed their program was for OP too. Their opinions are unwarranted, ignorant and invalidating.

I was the messy one in my marriage. My husband was extremely neat and organized. Never changed. He was able to remove the bottom T shirt on the shelve ( with 4 other stacks of neatly folded clothing in the same shelve) without disturbing a dust particle. I, on the other hand, litterly walked through a room, and it was not neat anymore. I felt at home when the place was either neat or clean. When it was his way and he felt home and able to relax , I felt as if everything was standing on attention in the room and was not able to relax. It became worse when I got pregnant, had a colic baby while both of us had full-time jobs, overtime to work, and he took a nightly university course for a year. I did not cope with a baby crying 24/ 7 for 6 months in winter. My child could not latch well on either bottle or breast. I had enough milk. I only had a rest for 10 to 20 minutes every 2 hours the whole time. I medicated and carried the baby during the day on my body with a wonderful gadget. cried and slept like a dog on guard. Tried in vain to burp him. Baby was a fat big baby but lost weight until he was underweight, and I started to feed him rice porridge way too early
He said let him cry till he was exhausted. That did not happen, and I could not stand that after I tried to do this for an afternoon. I did not know about cupfeeding or that chiropractic treatment could help.
It helped that I slept late in the afternoon. I slept in another room 4 hours before my husband had to go to work so that he could have a few deep sleep hours. Friend living in same building popped in to hold baby while I went to the bathroom or made me a cup of tea and bring my breakfast, which I thought I did eat. Listen with me and could tell the next person or husband that he cried all the time . Another pair of ears helped more than you can imagine.
On top of it, beautifull sexy students visited my husband to help with course and studies. He was handsome and I jealous ect. How we survived I do not know. Later, we decided that 1 room would stay neat for him to study and can escape to if it were too much for him. Naturally, our priorities were not inthe same order of urgency. I am not housewify. So the dishes could wait till last or tomorrow . Children being in bed and things put. ready for tomorrow, were much more urgent for me Then we quarreled me angrily, shouting I would do it later before going to bed. Him washing and cleaning and complaining or critique me. Until I once asked him why he did i, he said because he could not handle messy kitchen and was upset that I was not gratefull but angry. I told him he did that for himself not us so he may not complain if he did it for himself . He was brought up with the idea it is womens work. I on.the other hand was brought up ( mostly females in big extended famy) that what good us for the goose is good for the gander

I know this is an older podcast, but I have to tell my story. I went to the hospital throwing up blood, fever of 103* F, 5 hours later my husband showed up to see if they were keeping me. The desk clerk said I had been seen and released. I was still in the waiting room and hadn’t even seen triage yet. When I heard him ask, i came over and said i hadn’t been seen yet. She said I was not me. That I am a Mexican woman with stomach pains. I said no, here’s my ID. She looked confused and said they already billed my insurance. And she couldn’t do anything. I said, well can I see a doctor? (Btw I am a blond blue eyed white girl). She had to go ask. I had ripped my esophagus and that caused the bleeding and the flu caused the fever. I was kept in the hospital for a week. When my insurance sent me the copay bill, the other person’s charges were still on there. The hospital never cancelled it. When i called they said they didn’t have the woman’s real name to bill her, so they weren’t changing it. My insurance company took the charges off me, and refused to pay my bill because they already “paid” for “my” tummy ache, and thought they were scamming them. The hospital then fixed the billing error because my actual bill pays so much more.

I have special needs too due to mental health issues. I (have severe GAD, ADD, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and substance abuse issues as a result of unsealed childhood trauma and from all the anxiety.). I used to feel like I didn’t deserve the accommodations they gave me, but now that I’ve gotten them for over a year, I can’t tell you how much it makes me feel so much more in control and therefore, makes my disorders more manageable. Mental health isn’t something that should be overlooked just because people struggling with it put in so much of their time to be functioning. Yes we’re able to look functional, but it takes a huge amount of energy and makes you feel like you’re just on autopilot or breaking down. I now have the space to be at school and work on bettering myself at the same time. To that OP, I’m glad she took the steps towards making her life less stressful and get the help she deserves an needs.

As for the A.S.S. name: first of all I find it very considerate to warn parents of issues with their chosen name before naming the baby, it’s not like just saying: I don’t like that name, better call it this or that (like some people do) but maybe parents didn’t realise that they would give the child a name it would get bullied for. Secondly if already the dad got bullied, why did he even consider doing something like that to his child. 3. Why can’t they just switch the first and middle name so it becomes S. A. S.?

Re the pregnancy story: I had a coworker who was about 7 months pregnant before she told the majority of us that she was expecting. She tried to hide it by wearing blazers and big sweaters, but we all knew. She had obviously told the bosses. Another coworker was obsessed with the fact that she didn't announce her pregnancy to the office. There were very few days that she didn't mention it. I kept telling her that it was none of our business and I mentioned that, perhaps, the pregnant woman had experienced trouble with a previous pregnancy and she was keeping things quiet until she'd gotten past that point.

She has never cared when I have been at deaths doorstep, which has happened a few times since I was a small child, scarlett fever 6, pancreatitis 19 (she was annoyed to drop me at the ER doorway and did not come to get me when I was released a week later) and during the birth of my first child. (A few other times I was not I’ll, simply having my life threatened and left to bleed from my head.
because she is so casual with my life, ignoring me (how the temp got above 107 when I was little without medical attention) or complaining about dropping me off at a hospital she could not be bothered . Sadly I am the child who she calls whenever she needs something. Time, money, help with a project, answers to question about health and home renovations. I was the one of four who bent over backwards to make her life easier. She takes full advantage but attacks me when people take up my time she has allocated for herself…That said, I don’t expect any favors from her for me or my children because she has made it clear that was hers is hers. Messed up parent story:
One day my stepfather was surprisingly nice to me
He gave me some coca cola to drink and i helped him make sandwiches and even got to eat one
    The day seemed incredibly awesome
Until he, my mom and me were sitting in the living room in the evening
My mom dropped something that rolled under the couch
She bent down and looked under the couch and said angrily "it's so dirty down there! Get it cleaned up RIGHT NOW!!"
That was directed at me since I was responsible for keeping the house clean
So I got our broom and started to clumsily sweep under the couch without moving it since it was very very hard for me to move and I didn't want to ask my mom and stepfather to get up
After a minute of me trying to sweep under it properly, my mom screeched that I'm taking too long and I'm useless and I can't do anything right
So my stepfather got up and took the broom from me and beat me with it until it broke
Then he shouted at me to get outside
It was currently winter in Germany and I was only wearing a shirt and pants
So I went outside where it was already dark until my stepfather came outside and told me to take my shirt off
I was appalled since I hold a deep amount of shame of my body, even then at just 8 years old
He told me to take it off again so I did
And he told me to stay outside and went back in
So I went to the back of our yard to our dog who was laying in the dog house and I hugged him for warmth and cried until I fell asleep

I’m a retired O.R. Nurse and those lumps on your legs are lipomas (like you said, fatty deposits). You don’t need surgery for those. And I’m serious when I say, smacking them with a book will disburse them. Honest. Also should you decide on the surgical route again, tell them just to cover with a bandage and have your mom close it with a small line of super glue along the edges and just hold together for a minute. I recently chopped the end of my finger off and no bandage or anything worked so I dropped one drop of super glue on it (yes they’re doing this in surgery but charging an arm and a leg for “surgical grade glue”. Bullcrap. The stuff you buy at the store is just as good, lets the wound heal, keeps water and dirt out (better than stitches or staples) and leaves minimal scarring. Trust me. Save yourself the scarring, the money and the infection. Your skin will start to shed the glue as it heals on its own. 👍

I've always had a difficult time having sex without it being painful so when I went to get a pap smear, I was so anxious. I also have severe anxiety. Well we tried the pap smear and it was painful. My gynecologist recommended we try it with Xanax. So we scheduled a new appointment, got the Xanax down even though I have a crippling fear of swallowing pills. Still couldn't do it. So we were gonna do it under general anesthesia, sounded good. Apparently my insurance expired the week before I had this procedure done, and I was never informed. I didn't find out for 4 months and had no bills from other appointments I went to after that. Somehow my insurance had been renewed by itself for the following month, but not the month I had the pap smear. So I received a $1900 bill for the "surgery" that my insurance wouldn't pay because I didn't have insurance that one month of the year.

Pap smears always hurt. It's best to just take a leather belt and bite down on it to get it over with.

I will not give an organ to my parents, and my parents wouldn't accept an organ from me, but only because I have a 3y/o who's been on the transplant list for nearly 2yrs and a 6y/o going through the listing process, and we have the opportunity to participate in a future DISOT trial.

i actually have a friend whos enitials are the same letters (ass) and he makes a joke of it saying "as it is written so it is" lol, in the story of the restraining order lady i think she dated the guy from that apartment complax on purpose, i knew someone from my old militray base who had his ex take out a ro (she cheated and spat at him so he pushed her away and she fell on her arse on the floor) and for 3 years she kept following him to his new adresses moving there then enforcing the order and he kept being evicted as she took the order out, so he joined the army to get fully away from her, she even tried to date some soldiers from his base to get him kicked out but the base commander had been made aware of the whole situation, and told her to leave with the help of the base MP's,

Nah. The siblings sold their their in the family home because they didn’t want or apparently have the means get it up to par. If not for the work and money the new, sole owners put into their personal property, there would be nothing to split. They also have no confirmation of who the box belonged to. Could have been a siblings that asked greats to store it for safekeeping. So, if mom wants her grown kids to have money, that’s not their siblings job to support them financially, ESPECIALLY after helping the siblings by buying them out the FIRST time.

Just so you're aware, closure of the surgical wound is part of the surgical package and is NOT separately billable. The only way they can bill separately is if the closure was complex and required a lot of undermining of tissues to fully close the wound. Depends on depth and size of lipoma removed. Removal of stitches are also considered part of the surgical package. There are 10 day global periods (minor surgeries) and 90 day global periods (major surgeries) which you, nor your insurance should be charged ANYTHING. Please be aware of this, some insurances will require patient to pay 20% of coverage in a traditional insurance plan, and any deductible's you may have. If you are being charged for closure of a surgical wound, or removal of the stitches (or staples) I am going to recommend you double check with your insurance company before coming out of pocket to pay for those services. Unfortunately, it sounds like you were taken for $1000. It might not help now, but hopefully it will help others be aware of charges that they should not be paying. Insurance plans vary in coverage, so be sure you understand what you are paying for before you pay.

I was raised with Christianity through my aunt and uncle, who practically raised me till it was time to start school and are my mom and dad for the longest. Started off as weekends when I was a baby and slowly progressed to practically living with them. My mother and father aren’t religious at all. When I ended up pregnant and having my daughter a month after I turned 17, my aunt and uncle were very upset with me, while my mother and father were happy. My mother was ecstatic and my father was just happy I didn’t end up being a lesbian, he has nothing against the community just thought he’d never get a grandchild out of me because I thought I was lesbian.
